  1. Turbo - lol. Yes, good job out of Ned. And Doc, good job out of Svuem too. I will definitely be rooting for them. Pit @ KC for the series.
  2. Glad to see the Royals in the playoffs. Especially with ex brewers manning their 1, 2, and 3 hole. Go Royals!!
  3. Lets all take a moment and remember the greatest moment of 2014 http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2014_06_17_milmlb_arimlb_1&mode=video&content_id=33822799&tcid=vpp_copy_33822799 Here is to you Kirk Gibson. May you keep the fight going.
  4. On his way out of the office, he picked up a baseball and plunked La Russa as no one cans Kirk Gibson. #Gamer #UnwrittenRules
  5. This is true. And there isn't another club like the Brewers who love trading young cost controlled talent for 1 - 2 years of service from an "all-star." The Brewers have traded away so much and are sitting here with just a bad looking team and a horrendous upper Minor's system. We don't have 1 guy above A ball that is ranked in our top 10 in our organization. viewtopic.php?f=64&t=31859 Heck, in our top 15 we only have 1 guy. Taylor Jungmann. And it isn't like he is setting the world on fire with his 3.98 ERA this year at AAA. He is a middling prospect at best. Not a guy who looks like a top of the rotation starter. Not a whole lot to get excited about. This is why the Brewers need to hit the reset button. This team has more holes than positions filled especially if Aram ops out. We have a hole at 1B, 3B, SS. Our organization doesn't think our 2nd baseman can hit lefties and our left fielder hit an awesome .243 / .299 / .457 / .756 clip. His .299 OBP is good for 15th best in baseball out of 17 qualifying. If you take the qualifying off he is the 48th best LF based on OBP in all of baseball. Awesome. Looking at next season, which player are you like - can't wait to see him play again. Lucroy. Gomez. (crickets .....) Doug is scraping at the walls with his mediocre talent. And coming up next is more mediocre talent. So Mark A, please aim for 2017, re-build it and can Doug.
  6. And so does Mark A thus why I see about a 1% chance at a rebuild. We have a chance at "being competitive" and Mark and Doug are satisfied with that. We as fans are not, and want greatness, but Mark is fine with just being competitive.
  7. lol. Lock it up. This thread is done. In all honesty this is the guy we should go get. http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/stl/team/frontoffice_bios/michael_girsch.jsp " In 2008, he was named Director of the newly created Baseball Development department - a group focused on supporting Baseball Operations via internet applications, analytical models and decision support tools. Girsch led the Baseball Development department for three years before being promoted to Assistant GM." Ummmmmm, sign me up for that! Go get it done Mark!
  8. 1. Fire them all. Damn near everyone. 2. Trade damn near everyone. Carlos Gomez. Kyle Lohse. Gerardo Parra. Yo Gallardo. Aram if he takes his option. I trade everyone for AAA or guys who were just brought up in 2014. 3. My focus as a GM would be the 2017 season. Throw out 2015. We are going to suck. 2016 will maybe see a few guys on the team, but 2017 should be our target year. With the influx from the trades, Clint Coulter, Tyrone Taylor, Orlando Arcia will hopefully be big pieces on this team come 2017.
  9. Hard to say. Maybe http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/11589333/derek-jeter-plays-final-home-game-new-york-yankees There is no way that was grooved. With a win today the Orioles would only be 2 games behind the Angels. I highly doubt it was grooved as the Orioles are playing for something. Just give the guy some credit - that was a picture perfect moment
  10. That is just an unreal moment at Yankee Stadium. Way to go Derek. As said in Moneyball "how can you not be romantic about baseball?"
  11. Lol. Carlos says yes!
  12. Which is why I always wonder why anyone would want him at 1B... He will have to make a lot of plays at 1B too, not just receiving throws... Did everyone forget just how bad he was? Yes. I have certainly forgotten. I remember there being errors but not to the point of frustration that Yuni brought me. My point is just, why not try him there? (Especially in Spring Training) ... What if he can play it? and if he can't, don't you want to at least know?
  13. I just don't see that. I really don't. Braun is a better athlete than Prince and Braun's problem at 3rd was throwing the ball. 16 of his 26 errors were throwing the ball. How many bad throws were the result of not fielding the ball cleanly because he can't field a ground ball very well? He was bad at everything about fielding at 3B not just throwing. How many balls did he screw up that didn't count as errors? He fielding at 3B was historically bad. Range, throwing, fielding, everything. I certainly don't remember each play he had at 3B to emphatically say he was horrendous and everything was bad. I believe the Brewers really need to take a deep look at where Braun fits into this team. And as more guys come up and move to the upper levels, having Braun being able to play multiple positions will be a positive. What if Coulter is bad at 1B? Maybe he ends up as a decent OF? Who knows. Even if Braun can just play an acceptable first base, it gives you options. In all honesty, there isn't any reason they shouldn't have tried Braun at 1B this Spring. We all saw the hole at 1B in Spring, Melvin just refused to believe it. So we now have trotted out players who have qualified for bottom 5 in the league for 2 years running. And 2015, we are banking on Rogers and Clark to end the rut? I guess I just wouldn't put all my eggs into 1 unknown basket (again.) The Brewers need help at 1B and need all avenues looked into, IMO.
  14. I just don't see that. I really don't. Braun is a better athlete than Prince and Braun's problem at 3rd was throwing the ball. 16 of his 26 errors were throwing the ball.
  15. Braun to 1B is now being discussed internally with the Brewers according to McCalvy and Haudricourt. With next season 1B still a gigantic question mark it only seems logical to give Braun some seasoning there in spring training. Time will tell and it will be interesting to see what they do with Coulter who will start 2015 at A+. If he excels in 2015, he could reach AA and then 2016/2017 reach the big league club.
  16. Well this guess was awfully close. Only team missed was not picking KC instead of NYY. Also, no one had predicted the Angels would make up all that ground and take the division from the A's.
  17. I'm not sure any coach signals run vs stop when rounding first, let alone the manager way in the dugout. Rickie just being Rickie. Ya, I meant more the philosophy of "just send em!" Which seems to trickle down to the players and Eddie. Just keep sending em Ron
  18. Damn. Rickie was almost in there! Lol ... Keep sending em Ron. Just go. Screw it. Even if the ball is already at the next base. Send me anyhow. Maybe the guy will forget to apply the tag?
  19. Watch the video here. Ueck's call is halfway through the video. http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/85898182/mlb-notebook-jonathan-lucroy-powers-brewers-past-reds When Luc hit his grandslam vs the Dbacks this year, Joe Block was on the call http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2014_06_17_milmlb_arimlb_1&mode=recap_away&c_id=mil#gid=2014_06_17_milmlb_arimlb_1&mode=video
  20. I guess for me the 1 Series win in 26 years is disturbing, but brushing aside spending differences is giving baseball a pass when you shouldn't. Spending is at the root of the in balance in baseball. I have posted plenty of times the spending DOES have a direct impact to making the playoffs. Once in the playoffs, in reality spending impact is minimized as hot teams win and advance. But getting in is directly tied to spending. (And it isn't even close) As far as calling this franchise "sad", I would agree with Rick in saying a "sad" franchise is the bucks. However, I don't think many can argue the philosophy that Melvin has built teams and drafted has been overly effective. Maybe it's a bad combo with our development program but there is something wrong in our system and replacing Melvin should be looked into. I can see both sides but the thing that has always eaten at me was his inability to draft pitching.
  21. I agree with a lot said but one thing to point out is guys like Cruz, Nelson, Brantley were on the rise in our system and never once talked about as future long term starters. This to me is an important note as it speaks to how bad Melvin and his staff are. We can have top level guys in our system and not even know it. In addition Stache's point on Melvin has 1 playoff series win in 26 years is disturbing.
  22. RRR is sticking it out with Reynolds as he has him starting again. Just laughable
