  1. Ya I agree. I could see Chicago getting it and you are right, WI would be used to some extent. I know when Chicago was trying to get the 2016 games, WI tourism were hoping for Kettle Moraine would get the long distance bike course and/or other satellite events.
  2. Now that I have your attention ... If you took the city with the highest attendance, Wall Street Journal says Milwaukee would be the host! http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10000872396390443792604577573393290580100.html?KEYWORDS=2024+olympics Part of the article ... Spectators will receive commemorative Olympic cheeseheads and be entertained by races between the Brewers' Sausages, who are already way better mascots than Wenlock and Mandeville."
  3. Dude, this isn't a bar fight. The sooner you lose the me-vs.-the-world attitude, the sooner it'll be enjoyable to read most of your posts. Well said TLB. But I will apologize for "coming at you" Slappzilla. It wasn't my intention. Like others have said, to say as fact that the Brewers will not contend, no how no way, is a little short sighted. A fellow baseball fan would know that. But anyhow, lets stay focused on the thread topic now.
  4. As others are suggesting, it's kind of foolish to try and project the 2013 when it's August, 2012. I'm not convinced that the Brewers' 2013 rotation will be the weak link. Here are some updated ZiPS projections: Fiers: 3.28 Gallardo: 3.68 Estrada: 4.5 Peralta: 4.65 You have to take projections of young players with a grain of salt, of course, but I'm actually excited about the rotation next year. That is a cheap and potentially solid group of guys there. Depending on what Melvin does in free agency, we could see realistically see an above average starting rotation at a very below average cost. This is where I am at. I am actually pretty excited to see a home grown starting 5. If 2013 ends up being a tough year, hopefully we learn something about the above players. Then when 2014 hits, we have another wave of arms to pull from. Our offense should always be in the top half. (Barring injury) ... so to contend, we need quality SP's and a pen that doesn't wet it's pants with a lead. For me, I am excited for spring training 2013 to see Fiers, Peralta, Thornburg, Estrada, compete for their spot in the rotation. (I know Fiers has his locked but do you have him as a 2? a 4? Spring training probably will determine that.) Like rluz said, I am excited!
  5. ^ thisSorry for being honest? Sorry for having a crystal ball that looks into the future and can predict team success? Let me know who will win the divisions next year so I can lay some money down. If you are cashing in 2013, you better want the following all traded: 1. Hart 2. Aoki 3. Ramirez 4. Gomez Then NO good free agents will come here as our front office is saying we suck and we plan on sucking. (And dont think they will come running back in 2014 either after we finish with 90 losses.) We won't be able to get a good bench bat or good bullpen arm's. (As most of those guys go to contending teams) ... I am not advocating we go all in for 2013, but I would say we are closer to contending then we are away from it. I think we just stay the course, with the guys we have. If we suck and are in the same spot come August 2013, then maybe you trade the above. But I am not giving up on a year that hasn't even started when we have good players.
  6. I don't believe you can honestly say the Brewers have no shot at contending next year. Of course they do. Many factors play into it. The Cardinals will keep regressing as they get older. The Cubs are the Cubs. So that leaves the Reds and Pirates to contend with next year. On August 7th, 2011, did you have Washington penciled in with the best record in the NL on August 7th, 2012? Awesome. And I am sure after all the moves Detroit made, you had the White Sox sitting in first place (considering their 3rd place finish and a losing record in 2011) The Brewers rotation does have question marks. But you don't know what you don't know. I am sick and tired of this "we have no rotation for next year thus we are going to suck mentatlity." Guys can step up and perform (see Mike Fiers.)
  7. 1. My favorite memory was the 2008 Wild Card clincher which featured Braun's big shot, CC completing the game, and then the fans sticking around to watch the Marlins beat the Mets. 2. Robin Younts 3,000 hit - But I was only 10. 3. Game 5 of 2011 NLDS - This was an awesome game to be at. 4. I won tickets to the Wolf Pools & Spa's Hot Tub in 2003. The hot tub was where the Tundra Territory is. People would be in the hot tub during a April game. It was pretty funny. Plus good scenery on some games. (Picture of tub http://aquamagazine.com/content/post/Waterfront-July-2003.aspx. ) I also remember being in the extra locker room in Miller Park. It is their visitor's visitor's room. And there were Mr 3,000 scripts all over the place. After we changed into our swim gear we were screwing around reading scenes from the movie. My friend walked all the way around Miller Park in scuba gear (for some reason they had flippers, snorkle, goggles, sitting next to the hot tub.) It was probably the funniest thing I have seen at Miller Park. 5. The Free game per Attanasio. In 2005, Mark gave away 20,000 tickets to the last game of the year. I attended with a bunch of friends and we ended up on the front page of the Journal Sentinel. We were all interviewed and asked to give our impression of this new owner. I remember saying, he gave away 20,000 tickets and actually got people to come to a meaningless game. Got to hand it to him, on a day when you are geared to not make a dime, you make a ton off of parking and concessions. I like him. 6. Braun's walk off in 2011 where he pointed the bat at the stands and Corey Hart has his hands raised over his head as he (and everyone else in the building) knew that ball was gone. Brewers clinch the division. (http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=19566869&topic_id=11493214&c_id=mlb&tcid=vpp_copy_19566869&v=3) 7. Prince hit's roadrunner sign. That was the longest homerun I have ever seen. I don't think that ball has landed yet. Edited for Grammer Issues and to add to #4. The game was pointless but I will never forget being in those "seats"
  8. The article was good ... Here is part of it: Baker said, "We hit Prince Fielder on purpose in the minor leagues, in Beloit, Wis. He hit a ball that went so far, he hit it 10 years ago, and it just landed the other day. He wouldn't run until it landed, so we were waiting and waiting and waiting for him to run. So next time up, we hit him in the shin. He reached down and pretended to brush off his shin, like a fly had landed on it. Then he gave our pitcher the death stare. Our pitcher was scared."
  9. I agree. We have Braun / Aoki for LF / RF and then Gamel / Hart / Davis / Morris for our 1B in 13, 14 and on. I just am unsure of what that gives us by playing him at a position he has never ever played and are already filled by productive players. If you really believe in Maldy than just trade Lucroy. He would net a lot. But I am not in this camp. I say he stays our catcher.
  10. I am unable to watch and am only to listen in occasionally on the radio. Glad to hear he is doing well.

  12. Here is an article from 07 when he was in the sox org. http://www.southsidesox.com/2007/7/9/217/82574 Great return for Kottaras
  13. In this article they say the Angels owe him the remainder ... But it may be inaccurate http://m.espn.go.com/mlb/story?storyId=8207299
  14. I would like Marcum back ... I would offer him arby
  15. I am very happy to be a Brewers fan. Sure, going into this year I had playoff expectations, and going forward I am really unsure of what 2013 will look like. But with what our minor league system looks like after taking it to the bottom of the barrel last year, I applaud Doug for getting this deal done and for getting our system back to a respectable level.
  16. I know a lot on these boards follow minor leagues at a high level. Some may have even seen some of the kids we aquired. I am curious as to how good a trade this is. On the outside it seems good.
  17. I agree with this. Plus the fact, the Yankee's were not going to be denied CC. They would have just kept raising the cost until he signed. So it didn't really matter where CC felt like going. In the end, money won and it usually does. With Greinke though, since he is a little different, you might get something different.
  18. On 1250 WSSP they are talking about this post: http://brewernation.mlblogs.com/2012/07/26/heres-what-i-know-so-far/ Are the Brewers looking at Elvis Andrus as part of the trade? He has 2 years on his contract left after this year according to BB. (FA after the 2014 season)
  19. Pretty disappointed we give Bianchi all of 11 AB's ... I really hope Profar shows up on this team
  20. HAHAHAHA. Sup pitched great!
  21. Link: http://m.espn.go.com/mlb/story?storyId=8197964 Does this set the bar for Greinke? I can't imagine him getting more.
