  1. That's what I was thinking. But I still had a feeling it would have been overturned.
  2. Not sure what Bill's talking about. Looks like the tag was made behind the plate and he's safe.
  3. No it was just being lazy. Well, he was sure it was a homerun. I guess you could say he was being lazy for not sliding just in case, but I don't see many guys sprinting full speed and sliding into home on homeruns. The confusing thing was it didn't seem like *anyone* was signaling him to pick it up or get down or anything. Doesn't matter. He should be running hard until he's stopped or an umpire calls homerun and no one called it. That's a high school mistake and shouldn't happen in the majors.
  4. I had to rewind to see what they were talking about. Last night the Mets walked the batter in front of him and he got upset so when he homered he took his time around the bases and the Mets got angry. He didn't even look like he was going that slow to me. Seems like your typical "everyone's upset about something stupid" baseball situation.
  5. 3.1 PA per team game. He needs to be at 230 before this game and he's at 129. He needs 503 for the season. He needs to get 374 more PA this year. That would be 4.25 per game. Not impossible but he would most likely need to play all of every game the rest of the year. Theoretically speaking, if he were sitting at 490 at bats, he could tack on 13 hitless at bats and if he is still leading after his average is adjusted then he would win.....? Now I know why Sogard isn't take walks anymore. He can't generate the at bats that way. It's plate appearance, not at bats.
  6. Never understood why players get upset when they intentionally walk the batter in front you. It's sound baseball strategy. But I guess players are complaining about shifting not being fair because they can't stop hitting grounders into it so I shouldn't be surprised.

  8. A lot of lefties seem to be able to golf baseballs about 2 inches off the ground. Never understood it. As a left handed hitter I can attest to it being true. Typically when your legs collapse like Shaw's did though, you don't hit it that hard.
  9. Is it physical strength, juiced baseballs, smaller parks, or what? Because in what world should that pitch that Shaw hit, with the swing he took, have gone that far to dead center.
  10. Really interested to see what happens with Villar/Sogard once Jon returns and to a lesser extent Perez. Sogard has clearly outplayed Villar so far. Shaw has locked down 3B, even against LHP. You basically have 3 guys for one starting spot, where ever that may be defensively. I imagine Sogard and Perez see some time at SS but I just can't see a place where Villar deserves to play.
  11. Obviously the calf has been preventing Wily from throwing strikes the last 4 years. I'm glad they finally figured that out.
  12. Jake Arrieta had done nothing in his 3.5 year career, and had a 7.23 ERA and had a walk rate of 6.5, when the Cubs took him in trade for Feldman at the age of 27. I don't think the Cubs regret asking for him in a trade instead of waiting for him to be released. Not saying the same thing will happen with Peralta, but there are lots of similarities between him and Arrieta through age 27. I believe the Orioles also took away Arrieta's best pitch and the Cubs let him throw it again. I just don't see anything about Peralta that makes me think "if he could just put it together, he'd be really good."
  13. MiLB News and Notes: The Charleston RiverDogs spent their whole game against Tim Tebow's team mocking him. https://sports.yahoo.com/mets-gm-scolds-opposing-team-relentlessly-mocked-tim-tebow-044114745.html
  14. Thanks bullpen for not giving up any runs when we're losing. Try that next time we're winning.
  15. In no world is Shaw a journeyman. He was a somewhat regarded prospect who's played reasonably well in the bigs and was traded because the Red Sox thought Sandoval was back to his old self and they have a top 3B prospect in AAA.
  16. Second. This idea deserves its own thread I see this way too often. That's a huge overpay for the Rangers. Jeffress has been dominant at times. Peralta has never been anything.
  17. Yeah, I've been trying to understand among the criticism of Peralta and how much Garza "sucks", why Davies has been immune so far. Most likely because Peralta has always been terrible and Garza was total crap the last two years. Davies at least had a good year last year after his first few starts.
  18. Every manager has to fall in love with a crappy player and Franklin is Craig's crush this year.
  19. As in retiring it?!? Umm wow isnthr Brewers history pathetic and shame on the current group to not realize how pathetic that is. Not retiring it, just not giving it to anyone.
