  1. I dont have a problem with Counsell getting the start. Wouldn't mind seeing Escobar in over Hardy, but it's understandable I guess. Wonder if BA is going to be moving onto bigger things?
  2. While I generally am ok with Brian Anderson as an announcer, I agree 100% with the comment about him going way overboard on statistics. If a Brewer ever has a chance at a no-hitter I guarantee BA will ruin it, and probably by the 4th inning. I seriously imagine BA going on and on about a no-hitter by the 3rd or 4th at the latest. And as it is his stat bombartment for nearly every Fielder and most Braun at bats is incredibly aggravatinng. In the olden days I would turn on the radio and watch the game on tv but right now I'm living out of state and have to choose between mlb.tv and gameday audio so I get really tired of the stats.
  3. I think this is a case where you have to set the rivalry aside and admit that Wrigley Field is a cool place. When I was growing up my dad used to drive us down there once a summer to see a game. This was mostly in the 80's and early 90's before the Brewers joined the NL, so I actually haven't seen a Brewer game there yet, so I would see Grace, Sandburg, then Grace play against the likes of Strawberry, Gooden, Bonds the Pirate, and saw Maddux in his prime once. I loved it, the scoreboard, the Ivy, the brick walls, etc. I have so many great photos from Wrigley. I have been to a lot of baseball stadiums. When the retrofit stadiums started coming around I thought Camden Yards and then Jacobs Field were way cool but now that I've seen every bank sponsored park on the East Coast I have grown pretty tired of the homogenized feel of all these new places. Also Wrigley is in a fun neighborhood so it was fun to go shopping after the game or for Chicago Pizza and last time I was old enough went to some bars and it was fun. It's better location than being surrounded by a massive parking lot in my opinion. The only stadium I would say I like better is Fenway.
  4. J.A. Happ deserves ROY hands down. He's been amazing pretty much all year and especially when the Phillies needed him the most - he became a starter in late May when the Phillies were not dominating the NL east, and was a stud almost all year with an ERA under 3. I'd love to see McGehe get it but he's no 1992 Pat Listasch. Of all the rookies out there this year, I think Tommy Hanson is probably the best guy that will be an all star many years to come, but he started too late in 2009.
  5. Yeah, great start by Narveson! Actually with 10 games to go he should get two more starts. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't? If he can keep it up then yes he is at least putting himself into consideration for the #5 spot next year. one thing I don't understand is why we would re-sign Looper... And how about Gerut? I see that Gerut thread heating up towards the end of the season if he keeps it up.
  6. Wow, Lederhosen Bernie was before my time. He is by far the best. And Bonnie Brewer??? what a babe!!! My vote is definately to bring them back in costumes that mosts genuinely reflect the two I see in these black and white photos. That would be absolutely remarkable.... While I agree that the current Bernie is much better than the various shapeless monster mascots, I do also think that the current Bernie is very ugly and plastic looking. I'd be happy to bring back the old Bernie. And by all means he has to slide into the beer barrel. That's the whole point of the slide. Slide into a beer barrel and balloons go flying out. That was the greatest home run celebration of all time. Now we just have this ugly bernie sliding on the family friendly platform. But wow, going back to those old Bernie and Bonnie black and white photos, man, those were the days. That's just fantastic.
  7. Here is my first post on brewerfan.net.... No major changes next year except we sign Wisconsin native Washburn, resign Cameron, and trade Hardy for bullpen and/or prospects (his value isn't high enough to command a starting pitcher) and Kendell is gone..... Unless McGehe or Gamel can be a bargaining chip for a #2 quality starter I think we keep them both... 1.Escobar SS 2. Weeks 2B 3. Braun LF 4. Fielder 1B 5. McGehe 3B 6. Hart RF 7. Cameron CF 8. Rivera C Gallardo Washburn Parra Suppan Bush Bullpen: Hoffman, Coffey, Stetter, McClung, Vargas, Smith, Difilice Bench: Gamel, Gerut, Cattalanatto, Counsell, Salmoe (will get a chance to start if he proves himself)
