  1. I never knew how this works. If Milwaukee and Colorado both want their affiliate to be Carolina, is it basically a bidding war? I am sure there are other factors involved besides money but that is the bottom line?
  2. I seem to be missing something. Why is everyone here assuming Lancaster when other outlets (including jsonline) are reporting Carolina is still in play? I am sure someone here probably has insider info, but I didn't see any post alluding to that. I am still really hoping for Carolina because it's better for the team but also for me I would be in driving distance to some Carolina league teams.
  3. Seems like Baez just put on a huge show to get that HBP. Looked like it clearly hit the bat first, if it even hit his hand at all. Even the replay guys bought it. Counsell not happy
  4. Where's Nelson? I don't think you have to worry too much about next year's rotation. Other than Nelson and Davies, I don't care who's in the rotation and I think they're both locks at this point. Garza and Guerra (and even McCarthy) are either gone or around for another half season to gain/solidify value for a trade. Peralta may be a bounce back candidate at this point, but he also could just be thrown into the pen to see how he does there. Anderson's just a guy. He could be a throw in in another trade (or does he actually have options left as well?). But point being, Nelson and Davies will have their spots and I don't think it will hurt any of the prospects to spend more time in the minors, so the rest will sort itself out. It's going to be another rebuilding year, so a rotation of Davies, Nelson, and three of Guerra/Peralta/Garza/Anderson/McCarthy is fine for the first half of the season. I get what Brew4U is saying. I think just in terms of being a fan and watching games on a regular basis, it's not very fun to watch the likes of Garza/Andersonn/McCarthy. I can deal with one of them every five days (Anderson), two of them seems too much, and three would just be overly excessive. Given that we already have Garza and Anderson, the prospect of trading for Brandon McCarthy is not exciting. I understand that it is to take on salary and would be worth it in the right deal. I just am not sure if adding a McCarthy is any better than just eating the salary (same way I feel about Garza, I would let him walk, he is not building trade value). I would rather see a rotation of Nelson, Davies, Guerra, Peralta earning another chance, and then the 5th guy would be a free agent/waiver claim (perhaps Stearns can find another surprise like he did with Guerra). Or give a prospect a chance to earn the 5th spot. Having these bad to mediocre old vets around just seems to block young guys or transactions that might result in something good. The vision should be focused on the rebuild but I don't think having these guys around helps anything (except maybe "innings eating").
  5. I was not watching game but agree Sedar has got to go.
  6. Why do you think that? I thought it was an okay idea. Fowler seemed to be moving slowly to the ball and Braun did make it in there. Slid 2 inches to far. He would have been in scoring position with 1 out. He was being lazy, but it took a horrible throw to be safe. A half decent throw and he is out easily. He also would have been much slower had he gone into second at a speed slow enough to stay on the base. Seemed likely a very unnecessary risk. I'm not saying it was plain stupid, but it wasn't all that smart. If that would have been Villar this place would be blowing up. If that would have been Villar he would have been safe by a mile.
  7. If you are talking about his out at 2b I disagree. He saw the outfielder take a lazy route to the ball and broke for 2nd. He made it in safe but over slid the bag because he was going a million miles an hour. Unfortunately a bad over-slide but I wouldn't say it wasn't smart base running. Garza in top form again tonight. As an ultimate Garza hater I am shocked by his recent run.
  8. And Peralta is looking really sharp. He's had a couple of really nice strikeout pitches. Low pitch count -- he could go deep into this game at this rate.
  9. This is one of the best outings I can recall seeing from Garza as a Brewer. He is hitting the corners and been throwing strikeout pitches very effectively.
  10. Sac flies count against obp but not your average. So if you go 1-3 with a sac fly your average is .333 but obp .250
  11. That was my first time seeing Barnes pitch and I knew nothing of him. Pretty impressive. Throws hard anyway. I read he was a converted college infielder. Otherwise I didn't find much on him. Anyone know how he projects? Is he viewed as part of the Brewers pitching staff or fill in for injuries?
  12. I was expecting to see Garza get shelled. Maybe he will prove me wrong. That would be cool as the Brewers rotation could use something positive.
  13. Then what happens when multiple teams place a claim on a player? Do they then have to bid for him and he gets to chose? Or something else? Thanks
  14. That's 3 straight hits that could or should have been outs. All earned runs, none really deserved. Lousy D.
  15. Nice graphic link, 1992 casey. This graphic made me less opposed than I initially was reading the article and comments. We'd just be going back to the same strike zone of the 80's and early 90's. I still would like it to stay the same, but would be satisfied to compromise with the knees being the lower zone (opposed to the top of the knee).
  16. Yeah I read an article about Nelsons peripheral statistics being quite bad despite his relatively solid start in April. It will be pretty depressing if Nelson turns into another schmuck and we are left without any legit starters.
  17. I think Rock said it right with that reversal at home plate. "Kind of like touch football" I guess they applied the rule right after 5 minutes review but seems like a joke.
  18. I'd rather have Anderson Espinoza(18 years old) instead of Brian Johnson(25 years old in AAA) I would be so happy about a trade like this but think there is no chance.
  19. Looks like Thornberg got his fastball back. Could be a great bullpen piece for the crew this year
  20. Just tuning in and a couple thoughts: The new radio announcer seems much more pleasing to listen to than Joe Block was for me. I could have written up a dozen different lineups and I don't think any of them would have Domingo Santana batting first. Never would have guessed that.
  21. 1. Villar, ss 2. Lucroy, C 3. Braun, lf 4. Santana, RF 5. Carter, 1b 6. Hill, 3b 7. Walsh, 2b 8. Broxton, CF 9. Peralta, p Went with Walsh over Scooter on opening day because they are facing MadBum. Vs rhp I go with Scooter and would start Walsh over Hill regularly. I thought about batting Hill or Walsh 2nd and making Lucroy/Braun/Santana/Carter hit 3/4/5/6 but couldn't settle on that. Middle of order is something I would play around with like that and other combos. CF chose Broxton because he is the exciting option but who knows if he will stick.
  22. I was just giving one example. There are plenty of other baseball publications projecting that Lucroy is not that good. He was very bad last year and is an injury risk. I am just estimating that his trade value is not nearly as high as some of the Brewers fan trade proposals on this thread suggest. And if he plays in 2016 like he did in 15 then forget about it. Does not seem at all unlikely to me that Lucroy's value is low. Don't see why I need to be laughed at about this view that is not at all unusual outside of brewer nation.
