  1. I don't think that's a very good approach to take, but it does kinda seem like the one Seattle has taken. Everyone's known their OL has had big wholes since they been a contender really. Yet they've really neglected the OL in the draft. From trading a guy like Max Unger years ago for Jimmy Graham to constantly drafting more DT's than OL(not sure if that's actually true, but just glancing at it, it feels true) in the early rounds, they've kinda neglected that position. They're a well-run franchise, but you just can't keep asking your QB to make up for a terrible OL. This past year they did hit on a guard. Got a very good young player in Damien Lewis...but again, he was a guard. They haven't drafted a tackle since Britt 5 or 6 years ago and I don't know if they really thought he was a tackle or not. He's played mostly at center. I guess you are probably right though. They must figure since they've got a mobile QB, they can put more of an emphasis on other positions. Also...I'm guessing they didn't think they were trading for a very small OLB'er who could suddenly no longer play Safety when they gave up multiple picks(2 1sts and a 3rd+ a decent safety) to grab Adams. That trade is looking real ugly right now and one I'm almost positive they'd take back. That's a great player to have...if you have two guys like Amos and Savage already in place. It's a luxury. But I'm sure as hell not gonna cry for the Seahawks and as much as I like Wilson, I'm not gonna feel bad for him when he gets to Chicago(if) and he finds things aren't any better here and the fans turn on him.
  2. Right...that's what I was kinda thinking. He's so good at eluding the pass rush and moving around in the pocket to create throwing lanes, but once that's gone...if he's just an immobile 5'10 QB, that's gonna be rough. It worked for Brees because he had a great system in place and he's had a great OL for a while now. Consistently better OL than Rodgers, and that's been one of our strengths.
  3. I think they're pretty good in most sports. And certainly relative to CBB. IN the NFL, sometimes it can be a little bit longer, but they usually figure it out pretty quickly and it doesn't add much to the game. Short commercial break and they come back with the call. MLB, pretty much the same thing. There's less ambiguity there. But man, they look absolutely brutal in MCBB. And at least yesterday(again, limited viewing this year), it didn't look like the review even helped them make the right call. They blew three HUGE calls in the final minute, reviewed all three, and didn't correct any of them.
  4. Exactly. What's wrong with taking a very strong interest in your Son's athletic career? Sincerely, Marv Marinovich
  5. Wow...that's probably a pretty strong indication he wasn't the easiest Dad to deal with. Or that he has a little bit of a drinking problem(which is kinda irresponsible to speculate about, it just seems strange). I get the instinct, but you'd think you'd have enough common sense to just not go to message boards that talk about your son or his teams. Unless you are Jeff Trout. Unlikely he'd ever read anything the slightest bit negative about his son.
  6. I've become less of a CBB fan. Is that a flagrant like an incidental shot to the face is a flagrant in the NBA? If so, I can at least understand why they called that. I can't understand the foul on the 3 or not giving UW the ball after reviewing the out-of-bounds play...but without being a big fan, I'm having trouble understanding why that is 2 shots and the ball. If a guy hooks then call it on the floor, it's dumb to go to a review. Right, but what I'm saying is in the NBA, they review even benign shots to the head or neck area, even if there is no intent, and call it a flagrant 1. I'm asking if that's the rule in CBB with regard to hooking. If they see it, they have to call it on review. It seems ridiculous either way, but if the rules say any hook and pull is a 1, I can at least understand that stupidity. If that's a judgement call by the refs, it's that much worse.
  7. I was just going to post this after seeing it on Twitter. Is it possible the Badgers are actually a top 5 team and [sarcasm]win their 2nd straight NCAA Tourney this year?[/sarcasm] Half sarcasm because I don't know how good they actually are. I've watched less CBB this year than any other year...but those were the worst calls I've seen at the end of a game in a long time. And they all went in ONE direction. I guess there was the play where they called a tie ball and the Badgers had the arrow, but even in that play, a Badger got caught with an elbow to the face...much closer to a flagrant than the one they called.
  8. Rashod Bateman ran a 4.39(4.37 hand-timed) at a recent unsanctioned Combine-type event(one NFL personnel are banned from attending). Given his strengths are supposed to be his toughness, hand catching, and NFL-ready route-running, and savvy...while the knock against him is his big-play ability, I wonder what this will do to his draft status. Viewed as an early to mid 2nd in this draft, could this push him up...or could this make him a bigger target for the Packers to use the extra picks they've got to go up and get him? Also, for whatever reason, it looks like Waddle is moving past Smith in several mock drafts as Ruggs moved past Jeudy last year. I still believe they should take an OT, especially given how good of a class this is for OT's, and OL in general, but last year was the year of the WR'er and the Packers took 3 OL and a QB in the 1st, so who knows what they'll do.
  9. I guess that's the sticking point then. What's an "interview." They interview 60 people at the combine(though that may have dropped last year) and they're "in contact" with SO many more players, it seems like you end up talking to just about every player...so it wouldn't be surprising if they'd just had a phone call with someone they picked...not much different from a zoom call. So if that's the criteria, I'd be more surprised if they had picked someone they hadn't talked to. I did find this article. It mentions that Oren Burks was the highest drafted player they'd actually picked since 2013. https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/nfl-draft-2019-packers/2019/4/3/18293967/the-packers-usually-acquire-several-players-who-take-pre-draft-visits-to-green-bay I wasn't questioning you, that just struck me as kinda odd. Almost intentional, trying to not give away who they want to pick.
  10. I don't think that would be enough for Wilson. I think Stafford is capable of playing at a much higher level than he has, but I think Wilson is still clearly a better QB. He's also younger, never missed a game. So they got multiple 1sts, a 3rd, AND a young QB who was the 1st overall pick and led his team to the SB just two years ago. I think it's fair to say you could get at least a 2nd for a 26-year-old QB who is 42-20 as a starter and throws for about 275 per game(without Jeff Fischer). Probably a 1st. Foles has negative value with 13 million in base salary, so that's almost worth giving up a good pick to get rid of(think Brock Osweiler) and Fuller is a nice player, but at 13 million in a year they're trading Wilson? In my opinion, this is less value for a better/younger player. That said, the Lions new GM was hired away from the Rams, so there was a relationship there and if Seattle wants to trade him, there are said to be only 4 teams he'd waive his no-trade for, the Bears, Raiders, Cowboys, and Saints. Dallas is the only team that makes sense. Dak+1st, 2nd for Wilson. They can make it work and it's a ready-made roster. It works...at least according to Spotrac. They can get about 13 under just by cutting Hicks, restructuring Mack and making this trade. I just don't see why Seattle would go for that trade...unless things are a lot worse in Seattle than we know. Wilson's agent just said he was OK staying in Seattle. So unless this becomes a Watson like situation, I'd be holding out and trying to repair things if I was Seattle. But if Chicago can pull this off while keeping Mack, that would make them a contender. It likely would kill them in 3-4 years, but I don't know that they'd care.
  11. Man, what are the cap implications of THAT? Also....just why? What has Seattle done to make Wilson so unhappy there? And then why would they accommodate his list of 4 teams he'd consider(which the Bears are obviously on)? I get he wants more protection, but it's not like Seattle hasn't tried while Chicago has the great wall of China to play behind. Also, take Mack away and how different is Chicago from Seattle? Neither would have good defenses, Chicago would finally have their QB, but still not a great offense. Even if they bring A-Rob back, as good as he is, is that better than Seattle with DK Metcalf? I guess Seattle has traded away a lot of future picks, mostly for Adams, but Chicago isn't much better. I don't think this makes either team a real threat(in fact, it'd probably signal a rebuild for Seattle) and Wilson is already going to be 33 next season. So Chicago, who I assume would have to add picks with Mack, accomplishes exactly what here? I'd trade for Watson if they could, I wouldn't trade for a QB who relies on athleticism and is entering his mid 30's. Trade up and
  12. Since the beginning of the TT era, the Packers have never brought in a 1st or 2nd round draft pick. The highest they have drafted anyone they brought in has been the 3rd round. Really? I guess he's using a pretty broad term when he says interview as they interview or talk to a lot of players. They talked to Love a few times last year, but I don't believe they ever brought him in for an interview. But it's a little surprising to hear they haven't brought in a pick in the first two rounds since Thompson took over.
  13. Is this in reference to something that actually happened? Did Ben Hendrickson's Dad post on this site?

  15. Apologies if I missed this, but don’t they have to be under the cap by the full RB tag amount to be able to flip Jones? That seems like a tall order, given how COVID has complicated the Packers’ cap situation. If we were the Saints, we'd sign 4 or 5 different FA's this off-season after extending Linsley, Jones, Adams, and whoever else they wanted to. It really shouldn't be that difficult. They're talking to Rodgers agent(or at least have talked to him). They can save a big chunk of it by just restructuring him like they did Bakhtiari, and then doing the same with Za'Darius Smith. Then extend Adams and they should be fine. They're planning on bringing Peston Smith back, but hopefully, they've talked to him and his agent about taking a pay cut. That dude has to know he did not play like a guy who should get 16 million this year. Plus, one of these days, the NFL is going to have to tell teams what the actual cap is.
  16. I think it's worth the gamble even if you keep him. RB's aren't worth the long-term deals because they usually don't play well at the end, not because they don't play well on the front end. 8 million for a full year of Jones and Dillon? That's worth it. Then throw in an extra 2nd, particularly from Jax would REALLY be worth it as it'd be like having 2 firsts. So it's a win-win either way.
  17. I don't get how they can review the foul on the 3, stay with it, go back to the foul on Davidson, and rule that was a flagrant. Davidson hooked...so fine, correct that. Then correct the non-call that you JUST reviewed.
  18. I'll take the over on that...not because I think you're wrong, I just think having to play a little less will help him out in the long run. I don't quite see Cain as the albatross others do(and I'm assuming from this, you don't either as 3 WAR is pretty good in the last couple years of a 5 year deal for a vet).
  19. No, they didn't draft Yosh, but he was a UDFA they went after pretty aggressively...and I believe he's been on the roster the last two post-seasons. Gutey does certainly seem to prioritize size and athleticism more than Thompson did, but I'd be surprised if he had so few WR'ers as draftable last year. If a guy like Huggs would have fallen...and MLF wasn't instant on drafting Love, I'm sure he'd have taken him. I'm guessing these are just loose guidelines...otherwise, Adams himself would likely be off the board if he were in the draft today. Pretty pedestrian RAS and not a particularly big or long WR'er.
  20. He's a little more versatile than Lewis...but I agree, if they bring back Lewis, I don't think they need to do anything at TE other than maybe draft a young talented guy in the middle rounds and try to develop him. There also seems to be a ton of respect for "Big Dog" in the locker room. As for Cook...had he taken the contract the Packers offered, I believe he would have made more money than he did leaving for Oakland, and he very likely could have had a couple of huge years. Tonyan is great, but Cook is just a different animal with the ball in his hands. Still, getting Bennett seemed like a really nice consolation prize, but he just wasn't interested in playing any longer.
  21. So what you're saying is that Gutey likes athletic guys at every position but OL(where he did pick up Yosh who scored close to a 10...and actually, Jenkins scored exceptionally well also), likes to interview the player before he drafts them and he likes OL who are versatile, while also preferring a WR'er, he likes bigger guys who possess a wide catch radius...unless there is a real good player who's smaller? I think these are all pretty standard from team to team. The places I'd say Gutey's differentiated himself from other GM's and in particular TT, he is aggressive in trading up in the first round and he values upside over immediate impact.
  22. No it's not that Im not high on Gore. I don't like the idea to trade Hader plus for him. His innings limitations is a cause for concern unless you kept him in the minors this season and the next. But would anyone be confident Milw would do so? So concern is wasting team control a year even 2 and prematurely playing him at MLB level. Now you leave yourself with 4years of control to basically prune him for large markets to sign away. A TJ injury is a very good threat from a HS drafted SP building up his innings. Hader helps this team for 3 seasons now and Gore I don't see doing so until after 3 seasons pass. When I say that I mean pitching meaningful Sept and Playoff innings. Sorta feels like trading up in the 1st rd to select your next QB. I go back to how high you were on Corbin Burnes and how you argued he had as much value as Walker Buehler just a few starts into last season and the only conclusion I can come to is that you just place a far-FAR greater value on pitchers in the Brewers farm system or under team control. Also...yes, I would trust the Brewers to develop Gore. I'm not sure why he needs two years in the minors just to work on his inning limit though. I would assume the Padres were having him throw regularly last year. Incidentally, we're basically at the place in your most pessimistic scenario in which we're with Burnes and Woodruff where we're "Now you leave yourself with 4years of control to basically prune him for large markets to sign away." Of, Gore could have a similar season to Walker Buehler in 2018(he'd only thrown 109 IP in the minors and he didn't spend one of those seasons at the team's alternate site throwing regularly in simulated games). We wouldn't even entertain a trade like this if someone was asking us. Even last year with Corbin Burnes coming off an ERA of ~9, I doubt you'd have entertained such a trade...so why would the Padres take a premium talent like Gore and trade him for a reliever? Even a really good one. Pitchers with Gore's pedigree are the type you build your staff around...hell, your team. Not guys who are PART of a trade for a reliever. Even a really good one.

  24. I always thought he was an underrated player. Good blocker and sure-handed WR'er. Actually a bit more than that. He's a pretty good red-zone threat. Things ended ugly in Minnesota though. He came off as whining about not getting enough touches and saying he wouldn't take a pay cut "just to be a blocker." Otherwise, IF he'd sign, he'd be a nice addition. Meanwhile, another TE, Kellen Winslow Jr just sentenced to 14 years in Prison...which honestly seems like a pretty lenient sentence for the things he did. Victims ranged from 18 to 77. I'm sure this will be blamed on CTE, but I don't buy that. Some people are just trash human beings. He's one of them. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/30997360/ex-nfl-player-kellen-winslow-ii-gets-14-years-prison-sentence-rapes-assaults
