  1. Well, if he signed the veterans minimum, I'm not actually sure it would be cheaper. I think you can sign for ~2.5 million and it counts just 900K or so against the cap(rough numbers). And I really don't know what he is. He never played. He has a pretty big arm, he seemed at least somewhat mobile. If he's smart and can learn the offense, he might be a guy who is a good backup who can start a few games and keep you afloat. And maybe the Lions think he can be even more than that. I don't think he's destined to be a star in the NFL, but he seemed more than capable of being a good backup.
  2. I'm not really going to count them as 3 until I hear something new. So far it sounds like it's one REAL big dirtbag lawyer and one massage parlor where this is all originating from. Not saying he's guilty or innocent...but I find it a bit suspicious. He did these things to 6 different women after he was given a massage, each time at the same place, this clown of a lawyer tries to get a big settlement out of him, then he speaks out and within 3 days there are 5 more women who are all claiming the same thing happened? Just the claim that he did it 6 times...and they kept welcoming him back? The story just sounds weird. And the lawyer being friends with the McNair family is fueling speculation that they're somehow involved...which doesn't make any sense to my mind, but none of this does so far.
  3. The issue is more about when Jrue's not playing. Who is our backup PG. Forbes?
  4. Kinda disappointed to see Craig leave without ever really getting himself going in Milwaukee, but I guess we've got plenty of wings and need any available space to add a PG. I see the Bucks are interested in Isaiah Thomas. Which suggests that Jrue is going to be playing a LOT of minutes in the post-season and when he's not, it'll be Krhis and DDV running the offense.
  5. Yeah, that is kinda funny. I don't know where some of these beat reporters are coming up with this stuff. When I think of Cult figures in Packers history, it's Henderson or Kuhn, or "Frankie Baggadonuts" or "Old Bag of Donuts." Not a backup QB that nobody was real excited about. I think people have been more excited about Hundley, Kizer, Callahan and Hill than they were about Boyle. He was just kinda solid and kinda boring. But I guess just tweeting, "Lions sign former Packers backup QB," doesn't get as many hits or likes as "cult figure."
  6. I kinda doubt it. Both signings make sense and the Packers scheme is out there. It's make FAR more sense to just hire an intern who worked with the offense in GB, SF, LA or other teams who run the same scheme. Williams is a very solid back and while Boyle was NEVER anything even approaching a "cult figure," he is a nice young QB who has the size, can move a bit, and has a strong arm. I wouldn't be the last bit surprised to see him play 10 years in the NFL and have a year where he starts 5-6 games and is competent. Plus...it's not like Detroit is building up to beat the Packers this year.
  7. Nope. I'm just not buying that the Brewers are turning down a top ~10 SS prospect for him, or that they're demanding Abrams AND another very good prospect. It feels like they're piecing together rumors about the Brewers wanting an MLB ready piece...and a prospect and citing the best prospect they've got(arguably) and a young player who's MLB ready. The "searching for some reason to get made at Stearns" is just...kinda out of nowhere and ridiculous. You said "Then why even bother to shop him...why bother to take offers? If you're asking for Abrams AND another high ceiling prospect, you're not serious about trading him." Sorry if I am misreading what you posted there, but it certainly appears to me that you are criticizing the team for shopping Hader with unrealistic expectations concerning his value. If I am misinterpreting your point, I apologize. Right...but then I said; "I think it's more likely that the rumors aren't accurate. I have a hard time believing they'd say no to Abrams." I don't think Stearns would turn down that type of talent for Hader...and I don't think the Pads would give it up, and I'm a big fan of Stearns and how he's built this team. I think writers insert players based on the parameters they hear the Brewers are looking for. A prospect and an MLB ready player. So they look at a teams top prospects and find a prospect that fits what Stearns covets. Then they find a young player who's already played in the big leagues and they throw those names out there. Stearns just doesn't telegraph his moves like this. Hader will probably go to a team we haven't discussed and for players we haven't talked about.
  8. HiAndTight could put up an easy 20 on Augustine. I recall defense was not his specialty, had no idea how bad. I do have a killer crossover....just sayin. Seriously though...did he really work out any differently than we thought? We knew how bad he'd be defensively. He shot pretty well. Tucker just seems like a perfect fit. Provided the dip in his play this year is more due to how bad Houston is and not him just being washed.
  9. You must mean classiest. When have Philly fans EVER been anything but respectful? https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/eagles-fans-are-the-absolute-worst-and-here-are-9-times-they-proved-it/
  10. Full trade is PJ Tucker, Rodions Kurucs and a 2022 first round pick which was the Bucks pick for DJ Wilson, DJ Augustine, 2023 unprotected pick and right to swap picks in 2021 Houston's second round pick for the Bucks 2021 1st round pick top 9 protected. They also traded Craig to the Suns...though I guess that was technically a second deal. This seems like a good deal even if Tucker isn't the same player he was last year. They free up some room for the payroll, get out from Augustine's contract since he was never a good fit here. Seemed like they never really gave Craig the playing time he needed, but if they can pick up a competent PG who gets bought out, seems like it is at worst it's a solid trade. And if he ends up playing in the post-season like he has for Houston...he could end up putting us over the top.
  11. I've heard some evaluators say this OT class is similar to last years WR'er class in terms of it being really deep. Maybe not quite as good as deep, but a really good class. So I would hope we'd be able to find a competent OT in the 2nd if we don't go that way in the 1st. I'm going to continue to hope that we end up getting Spencer Brown at some point on Day 2 if we don't get one on Day 1. Felton looks like a really nice prospect, but it's kinda hard to imagine a RB going that high, but on the other hand, he does offer that ability to play the Tyler Ervin role, so I wouldn't be too upset with that.
  12. So I guess going to a playoff contender with a good QB...not as big of a priority for him. That's fine though. I do not think he's worth the salary cap work we'd have to do in order to pay him 10 million this year.
  13. That is not what Wilson was concerned about. It was the offensive line and the play calling that he is concerned about. The Seahawks have barely invested in their offensive line only the Bears really have a worse offensive line than the Seahawks do but the Bears have been signing free agents and drafting guys here and there. I think the last time the Seahawks drafted an offensive lineman early was back in 2017 and they haven't drafted an OL lower than the earlier than the 4th round since. Very little has been done to protect Wilson and that is his biggest gripe with the team and also the offensive play calling he has an issue with along with Carroll's sons basically getting nothing but free passes. When Wilson first spoke, he said he wanted to be more involved in the decision-making as well. I know it was mostly about the hits he's taken and his protection, but I took that to mean he felt undervalued. Even if that's not the case and I'm interpreting his words too much...I guess that is still telling. These guys have big Ego's and they want to know they're wanted. It is a little crazy to me how little they invested in their OL. I remember going back through their drafts and the last high pick they used was on Britt as a tackle...and he ended up being a Center. So I understand his frustration.
  14. That is just crazy to me. Why a team like Seattle would even consider trading Wilson. That so many on the org could agree to it. I really don't want to hear any more stories about how Rodgers is a Diva. Not that I think Russ is, but he's been more of one this off-season than Rodgers ever has been. Rumor is (via Dan Patrick) that Chicago offered 3 firsts, a third, and "two starters" for Wilson. He didn't get names on the 'starters'. That's a tempting deal that most teams would have to seriously consider, though I agree that when you have your QB, it's borderline insane to give that up and potentially throw yourself into a Bears-like QB situation where you're constantly looking for 'that guy'. I just saw that report AND it also said they gave Seattle a list of players and Mack and Hicks were both on that list. So if that's true, 3 1st, a 3rd, Mack...ok, now I can see it! If that's true and Mack was actually part of that deal...I guess you turn around and deal him and try to rebuild quickly. I would have to assume he's still worth at least a 1st if not 2. I know players are available at any price, I just couldn't believe there would be a price that would make sense for Seattle to trade away such a great QB who's also so beloved by the City. I now believe I saw that price. Wilson should look at that as a pretty clear sign they want him back very badly.

  16. I just remember the Bears pretty much immediately said they were going to match(but then waited the full 7 days to limit the Packers ability to make other moves). It would be nice to see the Bears have to cut him and the Packers get another bite at that apple. He's at his best playing man also(or so a PFF write-up on him from a couple years ago says). If so, that would be a nice fit on the other side of Jaire. Probably out of our price range, but the later it is, the more teams will have used up cap space.
  17. Nope. I'm just not buying that the Brewers are turning down a top ~10 SS prospect for him, or that they're demanding Abrams AND another very good prospect. 18. I saw a lot of people talking about him after the Senior Bowl. Apparently he was pretty dominant during that. I actually saw a mock that had him as a potential 1st. I knew nothing about him until the Sr. Bowl. Scouting reports say he's not a good fit for an outside zone scheme...but his RAS score is a 9.91? I guess it's hard to score those this year, but that's outstanding and seems like it'd be a fit in any scheme. Hard to not root for a kid like this.
  19. Of course. That's closer to what I thought he'd get once he got to free agency.
  20. If Trubisky were a 2nd round pick and not the guy they took instead of Mahomes and Watson, he'd probably have signed an extension. He's clearly better than Dalton IMO and like you said, at least he offers some upside. Physically, he's pretty solid.
  21. Depends on the prognosis on Bakh. Keeping Rodgers upright and healthy is the biggest component of this team winning games. If they think Bakh will be ready earlier in the season, then I'm more inclined to go CB or DL and take my chances with a veteran (if they can fit one in under the cap) or a RT drafted in rounds 2-4. But if Bakh isn't going to be ready until later in the season, then I go OT/CB/DL in that order. Samuel Cosmi had a great workout at their pro day, and last year he only allowed I think eight pressures in something like 360 pass plays. If he's there, I still say that he's the pick... but Greg Newsome II would be very, very tempting. I wonder how much skepticism there will be with the Pro-Day workouts this year. Players almost always do better at their Pro-Days. Certainly, I remember the Badgers players running faster during theirs. It's not to suggest that Cosmi isn't a great athlete(he actually reminds me of Bahk...or his scouting profile does) or that Newsome isn't a stud. Just feels like this year's draft is going to be that much harder to really evaluate. I'm going to guess there are more Pro Bowlers and AP-type players drafted in the middle rounds and more first-round picks who are busts. I would definitely prefer to take someone who actually played last year(like both the players you mentioned).
  22. Remember, Dillon (like all rookies) had minimal camp and was also out for a long time with COVID and lingering symptoms during the season. We don't know what he would have done had he been healthy the whole season and/or had normal mini/training camps. Hard to be a major contributor as a rookie on this team - especially trusted with pass-protecting Rodgers - without much for mini/training camps. That is one area we're really gonna miss Jamaal Williams. He was a stud at picking up those free runners. But I think too much is put on the "He's only a 2nd stringer." I would expect Dillon to get ~150 carries this year. He'll very likely be the back closing out games. And I think he and Jones will be on the field together at times. I was a bigger fan of Gibson at the time...though I didn't expect a RB to be taken at all, but now that we have Jones locked up, I think it makes the move make more sense in retrospect, not less. But I understand why others would disagree. I also think had we taken anyone other than a QB with our first pick, people would also judge the Dillon selection far less harshly.
  23. I've been a big PPat fan for a long time...but I don't think that's the move. I see some similarities with him and C-Wood, but Woodson was struggling due to health, and he was at odds with the organization. As you said, Peterson just hasn't been good the last two years. Maybe some of that is the pressure of being the #1 option and maybe he could thrive as our #2, but I would think if AZ doesn't pay him, that's probably pretty telling given they just paid Watt quite a bit and they have a lot of young talent on that team with Budda, Simmons, Jones...etc.. As popular as this may be and as beloved as King is...I think bringing him back might be the best option next year. Provided he is cheap. If they could swing that and then a Troy Hill signing, I'd be pretty happy going into the draft.
  24. I'm sure you're right. I don't see how Cincy or Miami can pass on him with young QB's. If he's really as good as everyone was saying before this year, someone will have to take him. This is a very deep class at OT. That, plus the Packers needs ensures...they will pass on an OT almost certainly! I guess it's more the idea of it. The Falcons obviously knew Julio was just THAT good. If you knew you could get an OT that was going to be maybe better than even Bahk, you'd probably have him for a Decade+...would you take the risk and give up a 1st, 2nd, 4th this year and then a 1st and a 4th next. I can't even imagine how upset the fanbase would be and how we'd hear about Tony Mandrich.
  25. Ha! Nah...just bored and speculating. Seeing if anyone would agree. And I don't see an excess of supremely athletic Tackles being a problem in the near future. I thought it was funny because I was just looking back at Nijman's draft profile and thinking about his potential when I see you post about a massive trade-up to draft a tackle. And I knew you were a fan. I'm a fan of his athletic ability. And I'm guessing there is something there that the Packers like as he's been active for the post-season the last two years, but that's just it. Guessing. It's like being a fan of Antoine Kelly and then not seeing any results from him for 3 years. Has he turned into a stud...is he still talented but has major flaws? I'll be a fan until they prove they can't be successful. That could be a big wildcard. Maybe we do nothing at OT and it's because only our FO knows we've got our next stud in place...but I'm not a big enough fan to want to go into the season with him as a starter. I'm also a little skeptical about Turner out there...and even more so if we lose Williams and Lewis as they both helped out a ton in pass protection. I think we covered up for Turner, but maybe that's not giving him the credit he's due. More than anything, I just think if you can lock down those two tackle spots, Rodgers is just about unstoppable. With the running game, Bahk should be back and playing at an elite level with the way ACL's are repaired now and how tackles of his caliber tend to age. It was unquestionably a video game-esque move most likely. [sarcasm]But if I was Gutey...I'd be paying someone right now to see if they could get pics of him in a bong mask and be ready to grab Sewell![/sarcasm]
