  1. I'll go with Manny Parra trusting his stuff a little more, getting some help from Rick Peterson, and getting some better luck and putting together a nice season.
  2. It is simple, Gerut was traded for TGJ, both of whom are bench guys at best. Edmonds is a cheap insurance policy and a one year rental until Schafer or Cain are ready in CF for 2011. Where does Carlos Gomez fit into this equation?
  3. I think what you arent realizing about "clutch" hitting is that most players perform right around where they would normally hit (with no runners on) when they are in these situations. Sure some guys have years when they hit better in the "clutch" but there is nothing that says they will continue to do this year after year. I understand that you are not a real big fan of Cameron, but even if you don't like to admit it he does have value as an offensive player. I also understand that some people will be more inclined to believe in stats than others, but the whole thing with "robots playing" and all sabremetrics people being "geeks" gets pretty annoying.
  4. Macha is aware of this - he made specific mention of the 75% success rate last year during spring training. Be interesting to see how he approaches it this year. So how do our guys stack up to this 75% success rate? I have heard Gomez for as fast as he is, makes a ton of mistakes on the base paths. The one in the playoffs against the Yankees comes to mind, but I don't want to judge the guy's base running on that one play. What about Escobar, Weeks, and the other guys who will be running, are they at or above that 75% rate for their careers? Is stolen base percentage something that gets better as a player matures? It would seem like it is, but I would like to see what the numbers say.
