  1. For me, the bats I want to look for are Jeff Cirillo/Jon Lucroy/Lyle Overbay/Nori Aoki types. Legit bats, but more the high-contact, all-fields, type, not so much the 3TO/power type. I think the way teams will combat the pitcher trackman era is with line drive hitters without extreme uppercuts, so we’re on the same page. I’d love a Cirillo, Overbay, Loretta, Mueller, etc type.
  2. So who had Howell as the potential HR champ for the organization?
  3. going to hope the Brewers assessments were that he couldn't help at SS
  4. Rasmussen has a high ceiling, but right bow he has a straight fastball with no command. He supposedly has a plus slider, but we haven’t seen it. He can be a productive big leaguer, but right now he has no business being in close games. Maybe in 2-3 years he’ll be a stud
  5. Your third scenario forces them to go to overtime, why? If they stop the Patriots why can't they 'drive and score' to win the game in regulation? Not to mention all Rodgers would need then is a field goal. Why are they forced to win the coin toss? Way to make that scenario seem more complicated than kicking the field goal when it is not. . Two things: For the third scenario, we needed the 2-point conversion as well...forgot that. But yes, we could have stopped them in regulation just like in scenario 1. Secondly, with no timeouts we wouldn’t have gotten the ball back in regulation all likelihood. we need to win the toss in OT because teams that don’t win the toss are at a major disadvantage with tired defenses, not to mention the Packers’ history with losing big games in OT in somewhat recent history. Lastly, scoring a TD on an opening drive is hugely important to avoid the opponent winning. Remember, the max possible points in OT in the NFL is 12...kicking a FG doesn’t guarantee anything. Still to me, the one that gave the highest probability of winning in regulation was kicking the FG. I’m normally really aggressive with my thoughts, and I’d want to try to win in regulation.
  6. He has really nice movement, but he shouldn’t be throwing a fastball. I’d say he should get released soon, but we just dealt one of our best relievers and one of our bubble guys.
  7. Good to see a few prospects doing okay. But the lack of high end hitters is truly troubling
  8. While Rasmussen has been pretty bad for us, he has a high ceiling arm. He needs to work in the pitching lab to create fastball movement and find a 2nd pitch. Kind of feel like we gave him away for nothing.
  9. Why would they do this? Why not add other sports for women? Men’s sports being cut due to Title IX is a cop out. These schools like UW need to simply reallocate resources or raise more money to support greater opportunities for all genders.
  10. Literally one of the worst hires I have ever seen in sports. That White Sox team is filled with fun and exuberant players and to hire this (insert expletive here) is just a slap in the face to the fanbase. It would have been like hiring this guy when Braun, Fielder, Weeks, Hart and Hardy were coming up. Sure he WAS a great manager, but he's such an insufferable human that it makes rooting for Ken Macha easy. No, just no. The implosion under Macha was the worst moment in the 30 years I’ve been a fan. Nothing makes Macha look good
  11. Urias is looking as bad at SS as Valentin was, and I detested him making errors on routine plays. Also, why is that an earned run? 2 outs, 2nd run only scores because of the error.
  12. not true, unless the coin is weighted to always have the Brewers logo facing down.
  13. agree with others that he looked out, BUT there was no halfway decent angle. I would have stuck with Woodruff because I don't like bringing in a fresh reliever right there. It's not like he was getting hit.
  14. It's revenge for 2019 when the Brewers covered the run line in almost every Woodruff start, including a couple in extra innings.
  15. Agree 100%. He was billed as a pure hitter so it is really sad to see him just swing through fastballs down the middle. I think the league figured out at least as early as everyone in this board that Hiura was looking like a bust. The same thing was said of Woodruff, Peralta, and Burnes. Give the kid time before you label someone a bust. He came out hot. Teams figured out that his weakness is the fastball at the top of the zone (bad combo that he can't touch it, and it's called a strike consistently these days). Now he needs to adjust.
  16. why was Reyes so far inside the bag when the throw was perfect? if he's standing where he should have been, it's an easy slap tag
  17. just realized the Royals pitching coach is Cal Eldred. I reference him all the time when golfing, calling it a "Cal Eldred round of golf." Throughout the 90s, it seemed after every start Cal would get asked what happened out there, and he’d say “I’ll take that stuff out there any day of the week” after giving up 7 runs in 2 2/3 innings.
  18. It’s supposedly always BPA, until it isn’t. Remember Doug Melvin talking about how Jungmann and Bradley would move quickly? Apparently how advanced a player is is often factored into their BPA evaluation. Besides last year, we’ve had about 6-7 straight pitching heavy drafts....I always love pitching, but I’m quietly hoping we load up on hitters at all positions, not just CF, SS, and C. I’d love some legit bats at 1b, 3b, rf
  19. He won’t be drafted unless the draft goes to 5 rounds. Carton is obviously a guy who just doesn’t do college. He likes ball, but not the school. Good luck to him in the pros...great talent.
  20. I sure hope we back off the catchers early in the draft. Our success rates hasn’t been good, and we’re two deep at catcher at every level.
  21. He wasn’t going to get in, but maybe the 3-yard line. But he was also something like 1-10 in the red zone in the game. I still stand by LaFleur’s decision from that yard line as it would have set them up to win with the fewest necessary things going their way. Scenarios: -kick FG, nearly 3 minutes to hold Patriots, then drive and score -Go for TD and don’t get it, then you have 3 minutes to get a stop (albeit deep in their territory), drive for TD, go to OT, win coin toss, score a TD (or potentially give then chance to win) -go for TD, get it. Now stop them with under 3 minutes, win coin toss, drive down and get TD in OT
  22. Your doctor must have a limited understanding of immunology/vaccines. She is very incorrect. The studies have shown that someone with COVID antibodies getting the first shot will show significantly more antibodies. I don't remember the number, but I thought it was something like 10 or 20x strong immune response (which is a good thing).
  23. Thanks Mass, sounds like a coachable kid with good stuff. Love the way the analytics are being used in the minors
  24. Do we know about Small's velocity so far in 2021? How about Kirby?
