  1. thanks for this post. I have ATT internet and looked into getting ATT Tv bundled. It is cheaper than Hulu live and I can watch FS Wisconsin again. seems like a no brainer. Problem with that is AT&T is a two-year contract, and the price rises significantly after the 12-month introductory price. So ... just like cable Yes and no. With AT&T TV you don’t rent the boxes, you finance them or pay upfront. While my year 2 service is increasing in price, I’ll be paying no box fees anymore to offset some. In my case with boxes in two locations, I’m also saving on the cost by having one service subscription instead of 2.
  2. I'd prefer to consider a 4-man rotation, with pitch counts of around 75-80 and most bullpen arms stretched out for 2+ innings. I think it's easier on an arm (like Hader) to throw 30 pitches every 2-3 days than 15 pitches back to back nights.
  3. That's totally not true. We were 1 game from winning the NLCS. If you're in the dance, you've got a chance. Billy Beane used to say he could build a team to win over 162 games, but it's a crapshoot in the playoffs
  4. I’m normally an eternal optimist, but I can’t see how Ray is in the conversation for a call up unless our entire outfield is quarantined for Covid. I know minor league stats don’t mean much, but his minor league stats been consistently awful. I know he’s been injured, but I see no reason to think he’ll be a big league contributor, and I see no reason to think he’ll ever be in a Brewers uniform for a regular season game.
  5. Funny but I’ve used this exact same argument for baseball’s superior format. For much of the last 20 years the Mets, Dodgers (until recently), Angels, Cubs, Tigers, etc have spent wildly with minimal success. The As, brewers, Rays, and others have had nice success without high payrolls and frivolous spending.
  6. I'm hoping Green or Robertson is the new Scotty Po
  7. Can he bat against our pitching?
  8. My understanding is that the vaccine helps your body build the ability to attack the spike protein. The vaccine is 95% effective at teaching the body to make antibodies should someone be exposed. So you can be exposed, possibly have cells on your body, and pass them to others...but you likely won't get sick from it. At least that's how I understand it.
  9. He gave me an awesome tour of his memorabilia in his AZ home. The entire 3 car garage was full of aisles of memorabilia personalized by players. What a nice man.
  10. There was a time when I was praying we’d move to a 3-4. Now I’m kind of hoping we move back to a 4-3 to better manage the run-pass combo. Of course, our base defense for years has been neither, and I’d like to draft for whatever base defense we run, instead of drafting for 3-4 personnel and playing nickel/dime. As for the play at the end of the half, interesting reading about the miscommunication between MLF and Petrine, with MLF saying 2-man and Petrine only hearing “man.” I’ve gotten some weird satisfaction reading 3 articles recently that blamed Rodgers for the MVS missfire as a play that may have cost the game. Bob McGinn’s scathing criticism of Rodgers was strangely rewarding since so many call me a hater if I make a critique of his game. Also satisfying hearing Rodgers call that the pass that got away that he regretted most from the game
  11. This is misleading. It assumes the person is taking their deferment and sticking it into the IRA/401k/457b/403b. I would argue that's not the case. Most people probably figure out what they can afford to put into their account and do so, probably without thinking "ooh, I can stash more money because it's tax-deferred."
  12. not true at all. If you look at a calculator that does this, it all is dependent on your tax situation. If your tax rate is the exact same at the time of contributing and when withdrawing, they will result in exactly the same amount of money. However, I think nearly everyone agrees that taxes will not be going down long-term...if anything they may go up. Therefore, it's better to pay the taxes at a lower rate now than later in life at a higher rate. Even beyond that, it's nice to look at the balance in my Roth 403b and know that the balance is what I'll get, whereas the balance in my 403b will lose a chunk to the gov't--that's the emotional/optical aspect.
  13. I'd take him back in a heartbeat. He's had a little success in the big leagues at times. He's young. He's a nice depth piece.
  14. Had a good conversation with someone today regarding the Packers game. We agreed that we have no problem with the late FG. Had Rodgers gotten to the 2 or 3 in a scramble up the middle, we would have gone for it on 4th down. Thinking about it, IF we got the TD, IF we got the 2pt conversion, then we would have had to stop their special teams, then stop Brady, and hope they didn’t have a chance for a very long FG, THEN we likely would have had to win the OT coin toss, THEN score a TD. That’s a lot of variables to go right there. But by kicking the FG they needed a stop and then the ball would be in their hands. I still reiterate the key play in the 4th quarter was missing an open MVS on a 3rd down (or was it 2nd down?). If Rodgers puts any air under that ball, we’re in the Super Bowl. I’m guessing that’s the throw he wants back when he’s reflecting on the game. Still, feels weird knowing that we lost the game. 6 years ago it felt like it was stolen from us, but we had many opportunities in this one and just couldn’t get over the hump. There’s that weird statistic that comes with a huge caveat, but Rodgers hasn’t had many 4th quarter comebacks...yes, usually his teams are ahead. But when behind, they often don’t finish those comebacks like Favre, Brees, etc. of course, the opposite of the stat would be saying Stafford is a great QB because he’s so good in the 4th quarter and ignoring his teams are almost always behind after 3 quarters.
  15. Don't look at the total numbers for COVID, especially in AZ. It's very misleading. Last week we had a day with about 5k cases and at first it sounded encouraging that things are improving in AZ. Then an official came out and said only about 15k had been getting tested each day lately, and the state was wishing more like 80-100k would be getting tested. Bottom line is AZ--and especially Phoenix--is seeing massive community spread of COVID. I wasn't trying to judge anything like that. I was just stating from the article that it appears the players union is holding their ground that there will be a 162-game season played this year, which means Spring Training can't be delayed unless the government steps in and shuts it down. Sounds like they're more interested in getting paid then they are worried about getting sick. They don't care if there are fans in the stands, as the owners are the ones losing money if the stands are empty. Didn’t mean to say you were judging. I was just trying to add some context for the “declining” totals in AZ. No reason for Cactus League to have games with fans in the near future. A 2 week delay could be a good start

  17. It'll be interesting to see why. I was always under the impression the union was for the DH because it moves bench players role to a starters level role. It also helped aging or defensively challenged players. Seems like a given it would replace a bench role with a higher salary job for each team. It also helps give other players a chance to have a few lighter days to boot. Can't think adding playoff spots would be the problem because of the added money. Supposedly MLB was offering it in exchange for expanded postseason. But MLBPA wants these items negotiated separately, as they are open to both but feel they are separate issues
  18. I know that things would have played out differently had something happened earlier in the game, but let’s look at the points: -Packers allowed a gift TD in 3q and 4 extra points and the end of the half (assuming kicker would have made long FG). So we handed them 10 free points. Add in the terrible coverage on the first TD....did King think Brady couldn’t throw the ball that far?? That shouldn’t have been a TD -we missed a 2pt conversion, and had two fruitless trips to the red zone. That’s 10 points off the board -that totals at least a 20-point swing If Rodgers had run that ball down to about the 3, then it’s an easier decision to go for it on 4th down. Not sure why seemingly every red zone play was into the end zone. Why not throw short of the goal line and let a skill position player try to get in?
  19. According to everything I've read, he did. King just went rogue and got burned. Do you have a link? Well, the post-game pressers showed that the initial reactions were wrong. You were correct. No logic can explain what the Packers were doing in man.
  20. I think what's nice is that we're entering the off-season with a lot of progress being made: -TE-- seems solid with Tonyan's breakout year, Deguara, Dafney, Sternberger, etc. -WR-- was what we were hoping we'd see with ESB and MVS making huge jumps in year 3, just like Adams did. Lazard is solid again. Would be nice to get another piece in the draft. We always seem to draft a receiver. But we also can't count on them making much of a contribution next year. I'd love a fast depth-piece WR that has vision for returns -OL--always need more depth. -RB---depends on Jones and Williams, if either or both return -DL--need more depth -LB--would be nice to continue to add more depth, especially speed that can cover and not need to come off when in Nickel -DB--definitely need more depth. Not sure how the Packers can feel good about King after he was responsible for so much that went wrong in this game.
  21. We're really blaming Rodgers for that 2? It was St. Brown, not Lazard, and it could not have hit him in a better spot. It was a tight window and if it's 90 instead of 101 as you describe it he never has a chance because it gets tipped more flush and never gets to him. ESB needs to catch that. Never did I blame Rodgers. It's a critique of Rodgers that I get every time I watch Brees and Brady play...they often manage to put the perfect air underneath the ball...sometimes rifled, sometimes lofted. Rodgers is one of the greatest of all time, but it's one area where I rate others better than him. I was stating that it should have been caught
  22. Supposed to stay behind his guy at all times, keep the ball infront of him there
  23. Some thoughts: -King was brutal. Nearly every big play was his fault and guys were catching it as he fell down. -We had no balance in the red zone. Nearly every play was an attempt into the end zone. Why not a screen, dump off, slant, or any other play for a few yards and then let the skill player try to get in? -Great run defense. I think they had 1 run longer than 5 yards--the TD. And we even had that bottled up for no gain if someone had held containment. -Our DB's need to work on catching. Redmond likely saw Amos coming and expected to get hit, but needs to catch that. King has averaged about 6-7 gimme INT's dropped each season. -Watching Brees and Brady toss touch throws is a thing of beauty. Yes, Lazard needs to catch that 2-pointer, and yes it was tipped at the line...but it he fires that 90 mph instead of 101, that's a catch. -MVS with a huge game. Yet on that 2nd down towards the end of the game, if Rodgers puts any air under it, MVS goes all the way for a TD. Instead it was incomplete. -Packers receivers looked for DPI at least 7 times in the game. -Jones' 1st fumble should have been a personal foul for leading with the helmet and h2h contact.
  24. According to everything I've read, he did. King just went rogue and got burned.
  25. Why is someone with more than 3 offenses allowed to buy a car or even drive? License should be permanently revoked.
