  1. logan, the predominant idea to keep the Wild Card is that the division winner with the most wins gets a first round bye
  2. The new RF would have to be placed in the DH spot in the order. technically, a DH does not have a batting order spot. Instead that is the pitcher's spot, whom the DH is hitting for. So think of it as the RF moves to pitcher, but remains in the RF spot in the order. the new RF assumes the batting order spot of the pitcher. Since a DH cannot bat for a RF in professional baseball, and since he cannot change slots in the batting order mid-game, the team loses the DH.
  3. homers at the MLB level aren't bad, but I still can't pull a ball. it's tough. It took me probably 50 tries (or more) to get 20k. The worst is one time I had it, then swung and missed on the final two pitches to fall short
  4. no Joe, I didn't mean to come across that way. I check it every day, and some time if I miss something, it'd be cool to read it here in case I want it. But if you follow the site, you'll find that there's Roombas on there all the time...various models.
  5. Not only is Yohannis Perez playing better, but he's hitting more doubles. I kind think he's a likely candidate for the AFL this year, since he doesn't have a native country for Winterball. To make that happen, he has about a week before his promotion back to AA.
  6. could it just mean he was out partying and took some cocaine or something? I'm fairly sure it could be anything. Although, I'd rather it be steroids than cocaine like you so casually inquired about. It doesn't change his prospect status at all. He'll open 2008 in AA as one of the top catching prospects in the minors. However, he likely was going to find himself in AA within a few weeks anyways, so it sets him back, costs him some money, etc.
  7. if Angel's HS coach stops by, please wish him our best. We're huge fans and want him to do well, but we want him to be clean as a person and clean as a professional player. We're hoping he pulls through whatever problem(s) might have caused this positive test and becomes a stronger person because of it
  8. Assuming Miller is healthy - why wouldnt' be be catching a bunch to help Estrada heal? without looking it up, it seems to me that he has been catching more lately
  9. good to read. although I have to admit my first thought was of Big Ern in Kingpin, providing tons of support to attractive single mothers all around the country. Either way, I have a smile on my face
  10. I wish he would have run hard, but with Conine playing in, there's virtually no chance that he would have beaten the throw out.
  11. Wow...Gindl!!! I'd assume he might be in position to jump to BC next year if we had less OF talent ahead of him. Still, those numbers are incredible. We've already seen a Hurricane season, and he's playing one level too high for AZ, but it is Monsoon season here in AZ. There's a chance some rainouts might occur for the AZ team...not from rain during games, but from mud from the previous night
  12. Jenkins will move on next year. He's a solid platoon player, and someone will give him 2 or 3 years at $7-9 million per season. Jenkins is mediocre in the field. He's a solid LF, but a poor RF. He's a solid #7 hitter, but doesn't walk much, makes too little contact, and doesn't hit enough homers. Jenkins has had a very solid career. He's also one of the best Brewers hitters in the last decade. However, it's more a result of poor offensive players than anything. Like I said, he's solid, but unspectacular. I just hope his numbers are good enough to land us a draft pick or two.
  13. wow, shouldn't someone have told Grant to throw to 1st? time to do what you do best Grant...get K's
  14. come on Balfour...if you don't start throwing strikes, you'll get sent down tomorrow night rather than Gwynn
  15. Give Parra a go. aracko, I'm certain we won't see Parra till Saturday's start, barring an emergency
  16. Hart, with nobody on and 2 outs, is there any reason you were playing on the freaking warning track? yeah....so a ball in the gaps wouldn't be a double.
  17. I wonder if Johnny had his head down and thought that Conine tagged first before going home. wow, good job Geoff. way to help the team out!
  18. Weathers' runs will all go unearned now. nope
  19. Jenkins sure has been back to his flailing at crap in the dirt ways all night here And he's officially in the .250s. At his pace, he could be .240's soon
  20. good to see Harang out there again. He's a heck of a pitcher, and amazingly is likely the best of the A's young studs. Who did they trade him for, again?
  21. Al, that was Ryan Anderson, I think
  22. I foresee Nelson being a Graham Koonce type. When he's 28, and seems like he's been in AAA forever, he'll be hitting 30 homers. But he might never get a serious big league look.
  23. yeah, and it seemed crazy to me since they have these things available twice a month, and they rarely sell out.
  24. if the D-Backs traded by far there best everyday player, there fans would go crazy. The Dbacks will get rid of Byrnes, because they can't keep him. The GM, Byrnes, is in no hurry to win thanks to his contract. His priority is to get the team in shape for the future, and to be financially sound. So if the Dbacks can get a prospect or draft picks for Byrnes, then that is their priority.
