  1. nice to have Darron and Gracie as the announcers tonight. They're probably one of my favorite broadcast teams not working for the brewers.
  2. it's also a person's opinion. What if the lawmaker simply made the statements, and we later find out he doesn't use the internet or fantasy sports? Suddenly it makes sense, just as 60 year olds blaming cell phones for accidents, or teachers that claim technology is a waste (lots of them exist, surprisingly). I can't ridicule an elected official for this...if they want answers or an explanation, they are entitled to them
  3. frankly, we don't know if Simmons will play at all...I keep thinking of Grant Hill's injuries
  4. it's rectifying a huge mistake. Mason was solid at the 3, an active community figure, lived year-round in milwaukee (had even joined a country club), and loved it. Then we signed an inferior player (Simmons), and felt we needed to deal Mason to add the center (Magloire).
  5. I take Tylenol PM occasionally, but have recently shifted to Advil PM, since Advil tends to help me more than Tylenol (and I've heard ibuprofin is better for the body than acetamenaphine...although neither is good for it). I use them mainly during allergy season when I feel an allergy headache coming on, and I wake up the next day feeling a bit tired, but fully refreshed. All headaches and symptoms are completely gone. It just takes a few minutes to shake out the cobwebs when waking up. Neither gives me any headaches.
  6. vanilla bean is best, obviously
  7. If not called up, they're at least trade bait. I wonder if Parra could get us a spark for the stretch run to be honest, These two could be like the Angels calling up K-Rod. Both know how to finish batters, something Capellan has never done (thank goodness he's gone), and Spurling struggles with.
  8. first off, today's Journal Sentinal mentions that Shouse has the same average against for righties and lefties also, Yost's desire to get an extra inning out of starters is nice, as for once we have a manager that doesn't seem to want to overwork his bullpen. I shutter at the days of Garner, Lopes, etc.
  9. I guess the only two pitchers I was more interested in than Suppan were Marquis and Maddux. I think Suppan has been kind of what was expected. He was fantastic early, struggling lately. He'll likely finish at around a 4.50 ERA, and keeps us in games. I just wish he could finish hitters.
  10. Rickie's sure been cold since his 2nd or 3rd game off the DL. At least his defense is solid, but at this point Graffy or Counsell provide more on offense. Hopefully the 4 day break works wonders for him. Heck, I'd start Counsell tomorrow to give Rickie 5 days off.
  11. I thought it was unique. I've never seen many of those scenes before. In many action movies, it's the same old thing. So from that perspective, I thought it was unique. Only time will tell how much I like it. The first three hold their value even after seeing them 100 times. It's to the point where if I'm bored, I can turn on the TV, and if one of about 10 movies is on, I'll flip to it no matter how many times I've seen it. 3 of those ten are the first Die Hards
  12. I probably still hold Zach Jackson as a better prospect than Inman, so I'm in the vast minority. If Wil was 6-5, I'd love him...but he's not. and I've never been high on Jackson, and consider him a 6th inning reliever at best. Will will be fine. He just had the first 2 or 3 hiccups of his entire pro career.
  13. I love that no matter how bad life can seem, for roughly 8 months, baseball is there each and every day to give people an escape, an outlet. It really helped me through rough times in high school
  14. I think I'd like to see Weeks play 3 days on, two days off. Until his wrist is better, he seems to fatigue easily. Still, his power binge as a rookie sure was impressive
  15. His numbers have been reminiscent of the Hurricane in the AZ League. Quite impressive for someone of his age. I'd love to see him in West Virginia if this keeps up, although I don't see him getting promoted unless Lefave, Fermaint, Alonso, or Caufield moves up
  16. but the bottom line for me is that when he starts, the team wins. You know, I think we can acquire Wayne Franklin rather cheaply to be the ace along side Vargas
  17. man, no Oswalt? tough NL squad this year.
  18. Short memory, DH. Jose has a very nice curve/slider, his inability to find the plate with it is why he had a poor last month plus last year. I never saw signs of a "very nice curve/slider." I saw a pitcher that occasionally threw a breaking pitch just so that hitters wouldn't be expecting his 91 mph straight fastball. And it seemed that the breaking pitch never resulted in strikeouts...instead it was usually hung and roped for a hit, or a ball off the plate.
  19. I think it's funny how super sensitive people are being about this. Also, interesting to hear that about fruit in beer, but it makes sense. I've never had fruit put in my beer in Panama, Honduras, or Mexico. Only when I drink that crappy Bud product, Corona, do I need to add fruit. A hefeweissen can have flavor brought out by orange, but Corona needs fruit to be drinkable. So I guess it's like how Cinco De Mayo is celebrated in the US, not in Mexico.
  20. Capellan was awful to watch. He struggled to throw strikes, has iffy velocity, no movement, no halfway decent secondary pitch, no ability to coax either a double play or a strikeout.
  21. Im surprised they did not pinch hit for Bush there. not really. Bush seems to have really settled in and has a low pitch count. No point in taxing the pen, unless our offense is showing signs of life
  22. Was that Rick Helling on the mound?
  23. I like the move, as Gallardo, Balfour, Thatcher, and Parra are likely all better than Capellan. It would seem now that the Crew is either waiting for Spurling to implode or draw a nice trade offer, then another one of them will be up.
  24. I'm with ya Toby...Robinson and Pascual...where are they?
  25. once again, it shows the equipment is important. I'm a golfer, and a bowling enthusiast (not good yet, but hope to be). I've come to realize that people that buy their clubs at Sports Authority likely will never break 80. So if I ever take up running, I now know where to look
