  1. For years Elm Grove has been winning over more and more of the western suburbs crowd. It's been kind of fun seeing crowds increase, except it's harder to find space in Elm Grove Park than it used to be. Still, just for the memories, I wish I could be there. Plus, it was always neat the all day festivities they had for kids there
  2. I would think he'd be fine for 200 innings next year if needed. agreed. He's throwing much more between starts, as he gets up at least once a week in the pen without getting into the game. I'm more concerned about guys that throw with 100% effort, and Carlos seems in control out there.
  3. The Brewers normally do a round of promotions in late July, hence why the recent promotions were a bit surprising. At this point, I can see several players getting promoted. On the hitter side, I think Errecart, Gillespie, Salome, and Gamel could jump to AA. The real person that got me thinking of this was Andrew Lefave. But theoretically there could be quite a few moving up, including LaPorta seeing A+ or AA even.
  4. thanks guys. that website couldn't convert the .tif format to the ones I mentioned. However, I found a .pdf converter on the internet that did it just fine.
  5. I love that the Cubs have won 6 in a row, but the Brewers have actually increased their lead during their last 10 games
  6. I'm so glad that Bush is in this game. Capellan is just awful...I think I actually like Dessens more than him! That says a lot.
  7. I'm loving following Gindl so far, and another outstanding outing from Garcia.
  8. He's one of those guys that just didn't know when to stop. It's like Reggie White playing for the Panthers. who? Clemens is still possibly a top 10 pitcher in baseball.
  9. also, I need to scan some documents into .pdf, .txt, or .rtf for a job application, but the scanner software only goes to .tif.
  10. 1) Why can't I share printers easily in my home network? One is connected to a computer running XP Pro, the other is connected to Vista Home Premium. I have both locally selected to share. But when I click on the other computers in Network connections (or network neighborhood), it prompts me for a password to access the computer (I never set a password), and it won't allow me to search for the printer 2) how can I convert a .tif file to .rtf, .txt, or .pdf? I need it on one of these formats for a job application
  11. With the package I proposed, they're getting three major league contributors. I don't see a team like the White Sox getting a better offer. I'd happily throw in Capellan or Sarfate. I still like Dennis, but unfortunately it seems he won't thrive until he goes elsewhere. So Buehrle for Gwynn/Gross, Jackson, Capellan/Sarfate, and Vargas. They get a starter for the rest of the year and possibly beyond. They get a CF, two back of the rotation starters, and a power reliever.
  12. I see the Crew dealing Jackson to add a quality reliever, should they decide that they cannot fill their relief needs in-house. Although if I were Melvin, I'd be tempted to try Parra, Thatcher, and Balfour before acquiring anyone. Capellan has showed even less than I expected and Spurling is on thin ice. So the AAA rotation is very nice and encouraging, but by August we could have two of them in our pen, one in the AAA pen (Dillard already), and another traded
  13. I'm with Al. I'd offer Gwynn/Gross, Jackson, and Vargas for him in a heartbeat. In that case it's not bumping Vargas from the rotation, but upgrading the rotation.
  14. With control, a 6 pitch mix, and velocity returning to the mid 90s, he's a dynamite prospect again. exactly. He's done fine, but I was skeptical as long as I didn't hear radar gun readings. In the last few weeks we've heard those are good. I don't know how many pitches he throws, but I know that it was rumored to be 6-8 originally. So it's nice to know he has velocity, at least one strikeout pitch, and others, too. As for the comment about hope for Rogers...I also hold out hope for Jones. I'd like to see him signed to a AAA deal, and next year he comes out in May/June as a reliever. By September, they'll have an idea if he's going to regain velocity and then they can part with him or put him on the 40-man.
  15. although Brett, the article on brewers.com shows Yost and Melvin are well aware of the innings-pitched progressions for young arms. Keeping that in mind, if he's still a power pitcher, he could be a great 7th inning option.
  16. I'd rather have Villanueva throw the 7th and 8th one day, while Turnbow sets up the next two.
  17. wow...Parra with a Billy Chapel congrats Manny. And welcome to AAA
  18. Jason Jennings just got Munsoned. sorry, couldn't resist
  19. Did anyone else notice that Sheets seems to be going off the charts a little bit? Beginning in April when his curve wasn't sharp, I noticed that he began regularly mixing in the changeup when facing the elite hitters (Berkman, Pujols, etc). I was a bit surprised to see it there for Loretta, but it worked. I've also noticed a bunch of 2-seamers and cutters this year, since he's thrown pitches at 88-91 in a lot of games where his 4-seamer has been hitting 95.
  20. Nice rip there for Ben. Man, he's hit two balls hard to the outfield this year...that one and the fly to the warning track back in April
  21. Inman is having a rough outing - 6 runs through 2 innings. Should we be worried since this is his second rough start or is this normal for pitchers jumping from A to AA. I know it is a small sample size but is this struggle somewhat expected? While it isn't normal, it also isn't unexpected. Will has had 1-2 rough starts each year with his one bad one in Helena being most memorably tough (was it 4 jacks he gave up?). Still, they pushed him to AA because they believe he's ready, and we've really seen nothing to think he isn't ready for AA. Heck, it's possible his game might not be far from AAA. One step at a time though
  22. that is a good pic Toby. And Toneguzzi starting? Are they short on starters in WV?
  23. I've never heard of such a situation. I can't believe anyone would stoop low enough as to try to teach kids to cheat in sports.
  24. Capellan can just go away for all I care I wish he had a strikeout pitch. It hurts that he pitches to contact by default
  25. Here's to a win tomorrow. Winning game one is very nice, as it takes some pressure off. Of course, I am happiest when we win games 1 and 2, cause we can lose game three and we still won the series
