  1. as of now it would seem quite possible for 5-6 IP from Yo with Carlos Villanueva throwing anywhere from 2-4 IP.
  2. gotta figure that Yo will have 90 pitches as a goal. If need be, 100. But for several years they didn't push Sheets past 105, so I can't imagine they'd push him too much. also impressive that he strikes guys out with the heater...just like his mlb.com 2004 draft central scouting video
  3. Are the Yankees acting as ambassadors, seeing as they have relations with both countries named China
  4. I agree with you guys about elbow injuries being preferred to shoulder. I've spoken at length with a buddy that just finished medical school, and he insists that there should be no difference. I just think of how guys can come back from elbow injuries with effectiveness, but guys rarely come back from major shoulder surgery with much success. I'm thinking of Alex Fernandez, Ramon Martinez, Teddy Higuera, etc. Guys at the top of their games that were a shell of their former selves.
  5. I didn't think Nashville would be any good with all the veteran AAA types there and few marquee names other than Yo to put it in perspective, Hopf has been DH'ing! yet they keep winning
  6. Power pitching coach John Curtis said Zach Braddock and fellow left-handed pitcher Luis Ramirez are out with elbow injuries in their throwing arms and won't pitch again until August my read into this is that they gave an August timeframe for a reason. They both likely have some stiffness or tendonitis, and an August return gives them roughly 6 weeks to shut it down, rest, rehab, and then start throwing again
  7. Should be a fun outing. He's a stud pitcher to be. I'm hoping for 6 innings, 2 runs, 2 bb, 7 K's
  8. He left in Suppan because Jeff has had some damage control in his previous bad outings. I still like Turnbow there, or Villanueva, especially vs Morneau
  9. man, I like Spurling, but not there. You just battled back...go with Turnbow or Villanueva please
  10. come on Counsell, get a single, score a run, and flip the lineup
  11. I can't remember the last time we were down 9-4 in the 6th, and the opposing team has a dominant closer, and I've felt comfortable about our chances. This is weird.
  12. if that's a joshua tree, then I've never seen that variety before. Still, I can't tell. It's obviously something that isn't native to Arizona. I have no idea
  13. I'd been expecting this for Mercedes. He wasn't good, but he had some good moments. Hopefully he takes himself to Helena and thrives.
  14. Theoretically they could send Alonso or LeFave to A+ to DH to make room.
  15. I wont argue that the upside on FArris is limited, but just because he projects to be a UT MI is nothing to get upset about. for perspective, we all assumed that Jason Belcher would be a stud catcher if he could continue to play behind the dish, and most of us were scratching our heads at the selections of JJ Hardy and Josh Murray (one seems to have turned out alright).
  16. I remember when we dealt Graeme Lloyd, Listach, and Bones to the Yankees for Gerald Williams and Bob Wickman...my dad was ecstatic that we had landed Williams. Only it was the wrong one.
  17. The primary requirement to be an ace is to have a 95+ fastball and enough of two other pitchers that the guy can say you might have two ++ pitches and atleast an average third pitch. But Igor, Maddux used to throw 93-94 with regularity. I think your point is that the ACE tag is usually given to the hardest throwers. But people forget that Maddux used to bring decent heat.
  18. Even if they sign LaPorta, they probably won't reveal it right away, since they tend to introduce the kids and have them in for a workout at Miller Park also, I think this means they've signed more than they did in the last two drafts.
  19. Brae Wright working on his second straight good outing. Maybe there is hope for him.
  20. I was just looking back at our previous drafts, and man, our 2005 draft is looking very good in the early going. 2004 looks very solid, especially with OF's. It'd be nice to get 2-4 pitchers from this draft into the big leagues. 2003 looks a bit weak in comparison, although the farther we get from most drafts, the more common it is for them to appear that way.
  21. looking back at the brewerfan.net rosters, Helena should have a solid team. It's also possible that a pitcher or two (Roque Mercedes?) could be sent back to Helena and replaced with a more advanced 2007 draft pick. But I see Mike Goetz, Shane Hill, Chad Robinson, RJ Seidel, Carlos Hereaud, Zach Klem, and Chris Toneguzzi as guys on those rosters that I was really intrigured by. Goetz, Klem, and Toneguzzi could all be in West Virginia if the team already wasn't so deep. Goetz's walk rate was crazy-good, so I was expecting him to be a backup on A/A+ to open the year.
  22. one thing the Brewers can do with some of the tweeners is sign them to 2008 contracts. That would allow someone to finish up school or perhaps play in a wood-bat league this summer rather than pack our Rookie Ball rosters.
  23. i bought some here in AZ the other night...haven't tried it yet.
  24. Good question. I think Sheets is the best pitcher easily, but he also might not finish with the most wins. I could see Yo being a solid 1-2. Parra has huge variability. He could be a top of the rotation guy if his stuff is still as good as before. He could be a top 5th man. Or a dominant reliever. With Jeffress and Rogers, nobody really knows. We've suffered enough injuries to pitchers to try not to get too excited until AA. But Yo and Inman dominated so much that we couldn't help but get excited. Inman...who knows. We all hope for the best, but how will his aggressiveness fare againt the top hitters in the game? He gets by with good stuff, but mainly attitude and determination.
  25. The weather issues don't happen too much in Wisconsin, and you'll probably love power or Cable service in severe storms anyways. The thing I love about DirecTV is that the channels are arranged logically. I'm currently in AZ, and I love that all the ESPN's (except ESPNU) are together. With Cox Cable, ESPN and ESPN2 were in the 30s, and ESPNews was like 160-something. The superstation types are all together with SciFi, USA, TBS, TNT, FX, etc all a touch away. And I like the educational ones, so Hist, HistINT, Military, nat'l geographic, discovery, biography, and discovery-times all together. Most Directv issues can be solved with a phone call or resetting the receiver. Most cable issues require a technician to come over..5-7 days after calling. The only tricky thing is that for the DirecTV DVR, you need two cable lines.
