  1. Did Brian Anderson just say that not many left handers have a weak spot with their hitting down and in? It could be a myth, but it's an accepted fact of baseball that lefties tend to like the ball down and in. No idea why that is.
  2. agreed about Graffy. He might have a solid arm and ability to play SS and 2b, but he has very slow reflexes. Counsell is much more sure-handed. And it sure is nice having a RF with range this year. The best part is that Jenkins' range is good for LF, even if it was poor for RF
  3. The Reds announcers made a good point that several Bill Hall foul balls were mid-thigh, right down the middle of the plate. He's just really pulling off the ball right now. Basically, they were saying that Milton was getting very lucky.
  4. nevermind. Hall is scheduled to start.
  5. the second one looked especially hard. It reminded me of when Jermaine Dye broke his leg in the playoffs on a foul ball. I'm expecting him to have the day off given how bad the bruising likely will be.
  6. Nothing like a Reds soft-tossing lefty to break Bill Hall out of a slump I thought Milton was a hard thrower? We're the ones throwing the soft-tosser
  7. wow, Braun rules. Most impressive stat to me? 5 BB: 2 K's
  8. By right now I meant to ignore "potential" and rank on current ability. RyDogg, I assumed you meant to rank based on current performance, ie, who at this moment I would want up there with a runner on 2nd base.
  9. I haven't brought this up before, but I wonder if perhaps it might be time to see Braun. I like Gwynn, but he isn't playing much. Perhaps it's time to swap the two to add some punch to the offense. As I type this, Tony gets a hit.
  10. Rolen Duncan Weeks Fielder Eckstein Hall
  11. of course, based on past numbers, we should have just started Villanueva today.
  12. gotta say that one thing I really like about the Cards is that they hit line drives. Lots of balls falling infront of our OF. We hit lots of flyballs.
  13. The Cards simply don't make these kinds of mistakes. They make an error and they buckle down. It just shows we've got a long way to go still
  14. when Hall hits a solo shot next inning, that's gonna hurt
  15. man, Ben has allowed 4 hits and 1 earned run. Yet 2 errors are categorized as hits, and suddenly his line looks awful
  16. man, 3 terrible plays for Graffy so far
  17. sheets settling down, and Weeks-Hardy with another gem
  18. man, why do the Cards and Hart have no problem with flies, but the rest of our guys are struggling?
  19. need some more runs now to get Ben settled down. Did anyone think we'd be leading after Graffy botched those two?
  20. rain delays for BC and WV? there's no info available , but the games should be moving along
  21. wow, Graffy with a rough game defensively so far
  22. Hopefully, Sheets' curveball finds the zone. My first impression is that the home plate umpire's strike zone might be slightly tight, especially on the lower boundary (knees), so far. remember, if Ben's curve is caught at the knees, it crossed the plate around mid-thigh. With a heater, it likely crosses where it's caught, and that's pretty much all that Looper throws
