  1. wow. that's an advantage to having a CF playing RF
  2. I was just thinking, I wonder if Hart is kind of the guy they hold back as a last resort now. They have no backup IF (Hall maybe??), so would Hart be the bench player in case of injury to Counsell or Fielder? I'm still surprised Mench wasn't used. But it worked, so I guess I can't complain.
  3. time for a classic Zambrano implosion
  4. come on Johnny, need a baserunner
  5. Not only do I have a bad feeling about this game, I have a bad feeling about this entire series. I don't....we always seem to win the series in Chicago, they always seem to win in Milwaukee
  6. it's noticable. In the AFL in three years I maybe met 6 black players, with most coming from the Dodgers. We only had 2 black coaches/trainers those years, out of 10, too. I don't think most see it as a problem. The bigger issue is why in HS kids aren't playing baseball. For inner city blacks and minorities (and whites, too), it can be a chance to better their lives. Having never lived in an innercity, I cannot explain why the students are not pushed towards baseball. It has much more immediate rewards than the other sports, more opportunities (several thousand professional baseball players in the US vs several hundred in basketball), and is a sport where you will get noticed by scouts not based on what you do, but what you CAN do.
  7. jflick1215, sweet, thanks. I hadn't seen the Daily Brew was up and running. I saw a preview for I think the Pirates last week. I'll check it out.
  8. Some big time love for Mass and BF.net on the show this morn as in The Show on XM?
  9. Tough assignment for Manatees players -- home is in beautiful Melbourne on the coast, and you're asked to go to Hooters each week how many of them can legally drink?
  10. I've been shocked by the offensive outbursts by Steve Moss, Lou Palmisano, and Brad Nelson. I've been shocked how badly Mike Jones' numbers have been. This is his 4th year in the Southern League. With him out of options, I'd like to see him shifted to the bullpen by June 1st to prepare him for a possible callup to Milwaukee in September as an audition for 2008. I've also been surprised with Brantley hitting 5th a lot, although he's one of the guys I was excited about entering the year. In general the pitching has been fantastic.
  11. DHonks, I just added the NL Central games for tomorrow at the top of the thread. It is not too much of a problem, I will continue to add these. sweet, thanks Woogie. I can't say it's a new idea. In the past, brewerfan.net had series previews, and I suggested it back then. It's always kind of fun to see who the rivals are playing, and the pitchers throwing. I figure it might be relevant to this info, although I'm sure you're getting overwhelmed. Love the work you do. If we ever meet up, you've got a couple beers coming your way.
  12. I love seeing Dillard's 13 GO v 5 FO. I think he's gonna be key for us in August/September when he'd inducing inning ending GIDP's from the bullpen. I have always liked him as a starter, but if we stay in the race, then it's time to look at some of these guys as short term solutions for the pen.
  13. Okay, this likely makes it too complex...but would it be possible to have the other divisional matchups in the daily threads? It's kind of fun--while in first--to see who is playing who, and who is pitching.
  14. With injured players like Jones and Parra, they aren't worried about their age, just getting them reps. Parra and Hammond to AAA at some point makes sense, with Dickey released.
  15. oh no, Biggio. He's always killed us.
  16. Colby, check out the pitcher the Power are facing. A familiar name we've discussed before.
  17. It's funny now. Our top three players for home runs play SS, 2b, and CF. So much for those being defensive positions
  18. I'm kind of anticipating a lineup that has Gwynn in CF, Gross in RF, and Counsell at 3b. Good time to get the righties a day off against one of the game's most dominant righties
  19. I wish I was in Vegas tomorrow. i'm going there Thursday. Tomorrow I'm sure I could get some great odds on the Brewers. Probably a $20 wins $30. Oswalt might be the best pitcher in the NL, but Bush is due.
  20. The Brewers have been on the short end of two plays where the tie is supposed to go to the runner already this series. first off, I guess I'm always in the minority, but he appeared to have his foot in the air when the ball was caught. secondly, I've discussed this with umpires, and they point out adamently that there is no such thing as a tie. Either someone is safe or out.
  21. Two uncontested SB's, one of them from DAMIAN MILLER? I figured they just were expecting Hart to score on any steal.
  22. That was a bomb. The balls are going to be flying out of MP tonight. we'll see. Normally the ball flies best with the roof and panels closed. That's why those homers carried to left last night, but earlier in the game (panels open) they were dying in the outfield.
  23. ...yuck Possibly the hardest thrower from the 2005 draft. Adding his early 2007 stats to his 2006 stats, this is what you get. 14 IP 14 hits (not bad) 17 K's (nice) 53 BB (that's not a typo). You aren't going to have a good ERA when, on average, you walk in a run each inning. That doesn't show HBP or WP, either.
  24. looks like a tight strikezone. 2nd pitch for Rodriguez was a strike called a ball. Hopefully the charity call helps Rickie get on base
  25. I mean, you had to think that at his age coming into this season he had to either show something serious or he might be done. why? he practically skipped A ball.
