  1. shoot hawing, we might have like 4 pages in by midnight. by gametime, 10 pages
  2. By the way, don't they normally announce the starting lineups in advance? yes, mlb.com's opening day preview had the lineups for the game as of Friday
  3. How about Uecker in the Direct TV commercial I wonder how they did that one. I mean, Sheen has to be at least 30 lbs heavier now.
  4. now woogie, that's what I like to see. I have a hunch this will be on page two before midnight tonight. Can't you just feel the excitement??!!!
  5. Actually I believe Thatcher has already been assigned to Hunstville. It was in one of the recent McCalvy articles I'm pretty sure his contract can still be purchased. Since he wasn't demoted as a 40-man roster option, I think he can be added to the 25 man roster without the waiting period
  6. the shocker for me in the whole DRays lineup is that Elijah Dukes will be the CF on opening day. The guy can flat-out mash. But he has virtually no cartilage left in his knee, hence why they sent him to the AFL to play 1b.
  7. well, we saw Aquino throw okay, Spurling give up the jack in a key situation, and Thatcher walk the one lefty. I still think the job goes to Thatcher, seeing as we have 5 open spots on the 40man roster. I know Cruz has a great arm, but I don't know why they didn't try sending Gwynn on the Rottino single.
  8. ouch, a huge strike zone, and the 2nd pitch to Nelson Cruz--according the game tracker--was in the perfect geometrical center of the strikezone. I think it might not have landed yet. Darn...way to waste the efforts of the comeback
  9. Why is Counsell batting if they put in a lefty? that's why. Chavez out, and Rottino walks. come on Prince.
  10. 3-1 pitch, gross has to be sitting dead red "in play, run(s)"....oh the anticipation sac fly, runners on 1st and 3rd, 1 out, Counsell up, followed by Chavez and Rottino. new pitcher coming in 1-2 pitch to Counsell
  11. bases loaded in the 9th off Wright, no outs. Gross, Chavez, Counsell coming up, so Gross better get it done.
  12. damn, I hate that. it says "bill hall flies out to fight fielder Sammy Sosa" and the dot on gametracker is past the fence
  13. nice, Jamey Wright is in...so that'll mean a sure win
  14. I just looked at the box score and was surprised to see so many pitches. I'd think both teams would be swinging at a lot of first pitches tonight, especially the Crew. good point Al. Especially odd that there's a lot of pitchers AND the pitchers have been throwing lots of strikes. I guess that happens when you have two teams that swing and miss a lot.
  15. Counsell will likely start on Monday at 3b. Looks like the Rangers know the scouting report...give Jenkins either high heaters or breaking balls in the dirt. This time the strikeout on a high one, so next time probably on a changup down
  16. wow, nice 20 pitch inning to allow 2 hits AND strike out the side.
  17. Walker signed a minor league deal with the A's.
  18. Wow, some very interesting decisions. Good to see Pereird and Mercedes make the club. That's some youth. Besides being only around 18 or 19, do we know much about Pereird? I think I was more or less intrigued simply because he was so young when drafted. wow, and Ramirez and Braddock are teens, too. Also, I didn't realize Brantley was still 19. He could be opening 2008 in AA and not able to buy a beer yet.
  19. wow, Richardson, too? Are these some early April's fools jokes? Do we have anyone who can play 1b? Boy, we must have some sleepers in the organization, or else I really don't feel good about our minor league power numbers. It seems like everyone left (except Katin and Moss) is a decent obp, linedrive hitter.
  20. Parillo was a name I enjoyed to follow, so that's a shocker.
  21. I'm anticipating that we'll see the following this year: Solid role players: Tim Dillard, Thatcher (I think he'll make the opening day staff), Mike Jones, Stephen Hammond, Tony Gwynn, Brad Nelson, Ryan Braun, Yo Gallardo, and Zach Jackson. Kind of speaks volumes about our depth.
  22. I kind of expected Festa to move on. Boy, that draft class sure seemed exciting in Helena. They were older players for the most part, and they thrived, especially with OBP. I think it was Festa, Richardson, Sollman, Rasheed, and one or two others.
  23. People are always saying how Al and I are similar. like peas and carrots...or wait, is it like dogs and cats?
  24. wow, Sheets with a rare pickoff. They'll probably cut the guy for getting picked off by someone who doesn't worry about holding guys on
