  1. 2 terrible throws so far by Lamb at 3b. His throw in the first required Bagwell to come off the bag and make a great tag. His throw there to complete the DP required that Bagwell get really low and stretch And great job by the catcher to get Branyan, however he was lucky. The ball actually entered his glove a tick after Branyan hit him, however, it happened to find its way in the glove and stay there, and the collision resulted in an obvious tag. All in all, Branyan could have hit him harder and scored, but he didn't get low and try to plow through him, probably because he didn't have the ball and felt it was an unnecessary hit
  2. Are you watching on Extra Innings, DHonks? Yep. Okay, Oswolt looks awesome as always. Looks like he's in control, but then again I've never seen him look uncomfortable. Great velocity and curve as always. Haven't seen the devastating Changeup, but it's there. Sheets was throwing his curve for strikes, a rarity in the 2nd half. He also had the same tight break from the first half. His heater is hitting 94-96 and looks unhittable. Pods with a nice sliding grab in the first, as the liner kind of froze him. I still am amazed it got out that far...shows how well it was hit
  3. my god, a homer!!! outfielders just turned and watched
  4. Sheets looks to have very good stuff tonight
  5. the whole key for Wise is throwing the heater for strikes. If he can't set up the change, then he's in for a tough one
  6. Joe, I think the point is that when not walked intentionally, he gets out more than half the time. And Bonds is good, but to say he gets out only 5.7 times out of 10 means that he has a career .430 average, unless you are counting 10 plate appearances (I'm looking at AB's). Still, when you pitch to him, he gets out somewhere around 59% of his plate appearances. When you are afraid of him or intentionally walk him, you are inflating his numbers to the point that they will further scare others down the road
  7. how many times has Liriano dreamt of facing Bonds?
  8. They should just use De La Rosa and Hendrickson as "buddies" with Obermueller. Four or five innings of good baseball is valuable... it's like a really good long relief pitcher Batman, Al and I have long said that we think Kieschnick would be an interesting option as a starter or in a piggyback-type situation. It would guarantee Kiesch one or two at bats, which could possibly best utilize him. So it depends on what we want to do with Brooks...setup or long man.
  9. not sure anyone has mentioned the stat from these games, but Darren and Bill keep pointing out that the Giants have scored each inning Bonds walks, and they have a losing record in games he doesn't walk.
  10. damn, I don't remember Obermueller's changeup ever moving like that before. If is sinking a ton, and dropping away from lefties. Looks a lot like Doug Jones' changeup
  11. His stuff is good, speaking particularly of his sinking fastball, and if he can throw strikes and get groundballs, he'll have a long and productive career. Not to mention that he also throws that sinking fastball at around 92-94. Come on Russell, a run would be huge
  12. I love the softball shift. Bonds is now 0-for-2, and the Brewers continue to pitch to him. Good job, Ned (and Wes I was at the Dbacks-Giants game on Sunday, and the same thing happened, although he didn't run as hard as last night and tonight. Still, three games in a row he's been thrown out from short rightfield shows how hard he hits the ball
  13. Ditto the good job Wes comment. Can't argue with 3 shutout innings! This is how he's done it all year long. It's the 1 extra inning they try to push him which inflates his numbers.
  14. Mark doesn't strike out much in AAA, so I'm hoping something in play finds a hole
  15. darn it. That's another one of those for Branyan where I'm not sure how he missed the ball. Lots of his K's seem to be of that variety. I swear it went through the bat
  16. come on Brady, need you on base
  17. he also threw 95 with a hard slider for the first time in a while
  18. two games in a row that I've seen that happen to Barry. On Sunday he was thrown out from the same spot.
  19. get ready for 700...Vizcy is in
  20. damn, nice try there by Pods. He just killed that. some games I've been to at Miller Park I've seen balls hit like that go out, and some days they just fall in for outs
  21. wow, best throw from Bonds that I've seen in years. Great throw
  22. Wes has now hit the ball in play as many times as Bonds When did Barry hit it hard?
  23. holy crap, Helms with some range
  24. wow, tight strike zone, pitches 1, 3 and 4 all looked like perfect strikes, yet it's a 4 pitch walk
