  1. Also, is it just me, or has Deevers raised his avg like 20 points since the Miller Park game? Good to see that 6 Beloit hitters finish at over .300 (with Lou close) and lots of pitchers with sub-4 ERAs
  2. for someone in Huntsville, was Prince really in left?
  3. Congrats to Ben Hendrickson on his 1st ML win And congrats to Krynzel for his 1st hit. So that's two firsts for two guys who have been teammates in Huntsville, Indy, Arizona (Fall League) and now in Milwaukee. Congrats,....it's kind of neat to share their special day. I'm sure they're hoisting a few tonight
  4. The two looking strikeouts were pitches he probably rarely sees in AAA. One was a heater in and one was a perfect heater at the knees away (appeared outside, but too close to take). Still, I agree.
  5. wow, got out of it. Got through 5 big guy, now let Liriano take over.
  6. maybe cause Hendrickson is in trouble
  7. We trying for 10 runs/game now?? Either that, or .500. if they hold on, 16 below
  8. Li'l Ben reminds me a lot of Big Ben. With Sheets, the difference between him in the first half of 2004 and the rest of his career is the ability to throw the curve for a strike at any time. With Hendrickson, you can see the curve (just like Sheets the other 3+ seasons), but you can see that he's struggling to locate it.
  9. wow, great job by Krynzel. Thought he was robbed by Casey, then he just hustled down the line and there was no chance for Hancock to beat him to the bag
  10. Good to see some life again by the club. A strong finish would be nice...would give us 4 winning months. Something to build on. Come on Russell!
  11. Ben seems to like the inside corner to lefties (and outside to righties), just not getting any calls there. And a huge curve on his second pitch to Dunn...wow
  12. That makes sense Square, but perhaps Dave's better defense will suit him better in the short-term since balls to right or left have far more side-spin than balls to CF.
  13. I'll be watching, but I assume it's the Reds' feed. All it took was a righty and Krynzel is in there. My early take is that his stance looks totally different from when I criticized it in the Fall League. Now he has more bend at the waist. Before he used to look too upright, causing him to slap at the ball almost like David Hulse used to. Now it looks much more athletic, like Troy O'Leary or Griffey.
  14. Two in a row and with Hendrickson and De La Rosa going against the Reds, I'm optimistic that we can push that to 4 in a row (and then only 15 below .500). It's a start!
  15. too bad for Obermueller, possibly could have avoided one or two of the runs so far with some better defense
  16. good thing Liriano and Wise are capable of throwing a few innings each
  17. And just to note, Bennett now with a higher batting average than Moeller, and I think his obp is also higher. Kind of scary
  18. I was just talking about how that's the pitch to throw to Hall (among others). Missed it by a foot
  19. Hall is the only Brewer yet to reach base...Clark needs a hit, but has walked
  20. Wow, Obermueller with a single on a pitch that Bennett, Moeller, Hall, Ginter, and Helms haven't come within a foot of all year long. That outside breaking ball has killed our catchers and infielders, but apparently not Obermueller
  21. That could be a turning point for Obermueller. man on, none out, Casey and Dunn coming up, and he gets out of it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed Wes
  22. Okay, if you were to go back, I'm pretty sure you'd find that Obermueller has done fine in games until he's been pushed that one extra inning. But I have no problem starting him. He was great last year, and has had several very good starts this year. His sinker and slider are solid. Plus, we're out of the race. Why not start him and let him audition for a spot next year. He could possibly be a good guy for the Burba-role of long-reliever/short-reliever/mopup guy. After pitching in Spring Training, I'd send him over to minor league camp to play a position, like RF or DH or 2b, just to get him some at bats. I remain convinced that we're better off with a 13-man pitching staff, and if we had two or three (Cappy?) pitchers capable of pinch hitting effectively, we could still keep position players on the bench in case of emergencies.
  23. Pods sure looking good over the last 2 weeks, and that includes a couple of times he's been robbed on well hit balls
