  1. I'd love to know what McCarthy was thinking with about 1:50 left. He ran Montgomery for 2, which forced the Cowboys to call a timeout. Smart. But the next play lost 5, and we could all tell McCarthy was trying to run down the clock EXCEPT the Cowboys started this with 3 timeouts. That 2nd down play needed to be like a rollout or something. We needed one more first down there to get closer for the FG and also get the clock going. Still, a win is a win. I feel better about my 40:1 bet than I did with 5 minutes left. We should have Rollins, Burnett, and Jordy back next week, so that's as full strength as we get. We really need Peppers, Perry, and Matthews to have their best games of the year. And the defense needs to get back to its ballhawk ways. To win out in the regular season we picked off everything, but the last two weeks we've been dropping some rather easy picks.
  2. Homer, I agree. Ryan does well against the run, and we may see more of the Packers able to go base 3-4 vs Cowboys due to the balanced offense. That could allow some plays with Clay inside. Peppers and Perry tend to do better in containing the outside than Clay.
  3. I think the D comes up big today and we win the turnover battle 3-0. That allows the Packers to win 41-30. BTW, I saw that so far favorites are 6-0 AGS with 4 overs. Vegas really hated last weekend with all favorites winning and several overs, along with the worst outcome for the college championship game. This weekend probably hasn't been great for Vegas, but at least the Patriots huge line balanced out the betting AND the Seahawks usually draw a lot of betting action. At least for Vegas the Packers-Cowboys is pretty close to even betting action. I'll bet the big money today is on the Steelers, and the Packers-Cowboys over.
  4. while the hit was illegal, if Jordy catches it then it's a legal hit. The Giant anticipated Jordy making the routine catch, which would have meant he'd hit Jordy in the arm/ball. Having never played organized football, I'm not sure how hard it is to change your tackling/hitting intent in less than a 1/10 of a second while running at full speed. I didn't have a problem with the hit in real time. It was only after Pereira opened his mouth that it became an issue for us.
  5. didn't he have chronic back injuries in his last year+ in the system?
  6. I've always wanted to develop a special mute button that only mutes Phil Simms, Joe Buck, Chris Collinsworth, and Bill Walton. It'd be a huge upgrade feature I'd pay for to allow for crowd noise and their broadcast partners. I'd love broadcasts to utilize dual audio feeds for the home and away teams instead of national crews
  7. I'm all for it. With every signing there's risk, but I've always liked TJ guys with 2 year deals.
  8. Colby, I've always wondered why teams don't let guys dabble with 2-way players more. If I'm giving a kid a lot of money, I'd want the best opportunity to earn a return on my investment. Given that studies show multi-sport athletes are less likely to face injuries (due to natural cross-training), wouldn't it benefit a baseball player to move defensively, pitch, and also swing a bat? Completely different muscle groups would be getting trained with each
  9. One thing I started pondering last year...why don't teams blitz on likely hail mary plays? It seems like teams generally send 3 or 4 to maximize DB's in the chaos. But why let the QB have 4+ seconds to throw the ball? I'm sure they're afraid to have too few guys back, but I prefer coaching to win rather than coaching not to lose
  10. There's quite a bit of ignorance in 2 of those 3 sentences.
  11. my understanding in the 90s was that it wasn't the Petits, but rather the NHL's over-expansion, ridiculous expansion fees, etc. Hard to blame a couple that spent so much to bring hockey to Milwaukee
  12. Thanks Brew4U. I had " the first time but typed they should be able to get 4 yds. My mistake. I also didn't mean to say the game was over without Cooks' drop...I meant to say the half was over.
  13. McCarthy has gotten much better at using timeouts late in a half. Today was textbook as he gave his team a chance. It's weird to say, but NFL coaches needed to start managing like they were playing video game football. McCarthy has been doing that. I love him going for it on 4th and 4". We need to let the game be in the hands of our offense, and we need to be able to gain 4 yards. I would have run a rollout OR run the inverted wishbone, preferably with Michael given his success that drive. I also would have used Tretty over Spriggs, and would have had the emphasis on guys that can block rather than on tight ends on the field. Play of the game was Cooks' drop late in the 1st half. If it's a catch, the game is over.
  14. FVBrewerFan, I think one of the biggest problems with ESPN is that they went from being a sports highlight channel to being about analysis, drama, controversy, and headlines. I miss the old days where I would tune in to watch highlights of every game (well, not every game...I'd often hope for Brewers' highlights and be let down), followed by them flashing up the box score. I don't want sports center to be an analysis show, I want it to be a highlights show.
  15. Growing up in the Milwaukee area, I knew nobody that played hockey. My high school did have a decent team, though. It's weird, here in Arizona I've known a lot of people that play hockey. My school has a club team as well. It's really been surprising how hockey is bigger in Scottsdale than in Milwaukee to many people.
  16. Wow! I just saw an article on ESPN.com that stated he is stepping down from many of his responsibilities, including the Derby! Sounds like he's in good health, so nothing bad. But it means we can possibly watch the Derby without muting it!
  17. I'm really glad I have my ticket for Vegas with Packers to win it all at 40:1!!!
  18. I can't use a DVR. I'd rather flip through channels to see what's live Paul, we had an issue at our 2nd home where the DTV dish had some micro-flaws that developed over 6 years. They put a new dish on the mount and it works flawlessly again. That might be the fix you need.
  19. The texting and peeing thing doesn't get me. What gets me is when guys approach a urinal, undo their belt and button, unzip, and pee with their frontside mostly exposed. I've seen it quite a bit lately and don't get why the belt and button have to be undone for peeing to occur
  20. Disappointing to see former student Zach Taylor cut, but obviously his stats weren't good when he was able to crack the lineup. I kept hoping Garcia would work out... oh well
  21. I like the Giants and Cowboys hosting the Lions with Stafford's most important throwing finger heavily damaged. Given a weak rushing game and Stafford's lack of speed, I'd sit back and make him throw accurately. I think Packers win the division at 10-6, Lions come in at 9-7
  22. Braun passed through waivers, but teams may not have necessarily have wanted to add his contract at that point in the season. Team budgets are set, and you need ownership approval at that point in the year. Teams likely hoped to be able to get the Brewers to eat salary, include prospects, or take bad contracts off their hands. Assuming they knew the asking price, it would have been futile to claim him, given the chance they may have been forced to go over budget.
  23. Paul, I think DirecTv Now is marketed as more of an AT&T product than a a DTV product. They probably have different sales/tech numbers. Love my Apple TV, and this service has me intrigued
  24. Tomorrow is the most important of the remaining games. The Bears and Vikings are beatable. The Lions and Seahawks are the toughest left. With the Lions facing us, at the Cowboys, and at the Giants, they could very well go 1-3. Packers need to get to 10-6. I put money on them last week in Vegas to win the Super Bowl at 40:1.
