  1. Tony Plush just makes things happen. Now Corey Hart and Prince need to complete the crooked inning. Good chance to tie or take the lead here - everyone is hitting the ball hard off of Leake.
  2. Which makes sense considering his career BABIP is .309 and he's played on terrible defensive teams.
  3. Yeah, I can remember the Nationals drafted this kid last year who didn't sign until August 15th because he just wanted a bunch of money. What was his name? Brent Harker? Boy he busted. I bet if he signed early he would have been alot better.
  4. Not really. He's just using a different guy as the "8th inning guy". The same auto-pilot stupid managing philosophy that someone has a God-given right to the 8th is still there.
  5. Hawkins is up. Better than Loe, but not quite Braddock. I'll take improvement in RRR's decision making.
  6. Even the Reds announcers know McGehee and Counsell can't hit - "Counsell hasn't had a hit in a month" and "McGehee with 3 popups to the right side"
  7. Interesting how RRR organized the bullpen. http://twitpic.com/5moay6 It's possible that it's nothing, but he seems to start with the best in his mind and end with the mop-up guys. Axford in the 9th, Loe in the 8th, Estrada in the 7th, Saito and Hawkins in low leverage situations. At least that's how it seems to me. Maybe Loe is still the "8th inning guy".
  8. Anyone have his postgame quotes? Will they be on FSN Wisconsin's website?
  9. We deserve that loss. Stole one last night. Maybe with will finally convince our skipper that our set up man is a 6th inning guy.
  10. wow, that's amazingly bad. So 9 out of 27 appearances are meltdowns? Outstanding. FWIW, Hawkins has 7 SD to 1 MD.
  11. Well if the Twins hold the lead Loe will be 2-7. So 7 loses and I'm not sure how many leads he has given up in the 8th. Add 1 since he gave up a 5 spot to the Mets, but the Brewers came back via Tony Plush.
  12. Braddock and his no-platoon split is immediately pulled when a righty is up and a lefty on deck. Kameron Loe and his 5.6 career ERA against LHBs (over 200 IP) is left in to face a guy who simply mashes RHP. While the Greinke stuff is overblown, RR clearly is ignoring statistics here. There is simply no justification for this. I don't know if it's kosher to say our manager has "cost us" multiple games this year, but I feel terribly for guys like Loe, Hawkins and Braddock because the former is just being left out to fry against batters he doesn't have the skill level to get out and the latter 2 are simply seeing their talents wasted.
  13. I try to. But when there are like a page and a half of "OMG Greinke sucks because I use antiquated numbers in absurdly small sample size" and then Weeks hits a rocket home run and there is one comment, it gets fairly annoying. Same things happen with people complaining about RR. It's a game thread in the heat of the moment. Why are you surprised?RR's decisions actually don't make sense though. Statistically, they just don't make any sense at all. See - this inning.
  14. I try to. But when there are like a page and a half of "OMG Greinke sucks because I use antiquated numbers in absurdly small sample size" and then Weeks hits a rocket home run and there is one comment, it gets fairly annoying. So here is a simple question that can be answered with a simple yes or no should you so choose. Have you been happy with his performance thus far? Look I've read Baseball Between the Numbers and subscribe to the value of sabermetrics, but I am having a hard time believing this is the pitcher you thought we were getting. His performance or the results? I have never seen a pitcher with such a high percentage of mistakes get hit hardly, I have never seen a pitcher who has hits string together on him, and I have never seen a guy who has his mistakes hit with RISP like Greinke. People are so quick to point out that Greinke makes a bad pitch that gets hit, but forget that every mistake in baseball isn't hammered. Most mistake pitches are missed. If you told me he would be striking out more than a batter per inning and keeping the walk rate down, I'd tell you I'm happy. I just don't look at ERA over half a season. It's basically meaningless in terms of future performance. If you are mad about how he's done so far, I'd tell you that it doesn't really matter because he's gotten great run support.
  15. No you just ignore those comments because they are so ridiculous and these are emotional people who post these things constantly. Just laugh and move on. I try to. But when there are like a page and a half of "OMG Greinke sucks because I use antiquated numbers in absurdly small sample size" and then Weeks hits a rocket home run and there is one comment, it gets fairly annoying.
  16. We are in the second half of the season, how much longer are we supposed to wait for these results? It's not like games in September count double in the standings or anything. He needs to get his stuff together already. Take statistics. Seriously.
  17. I hope all the people ragging on Greinke own up to it when the results come later in the season. Oh, and despite the gloom and doom, we are up 2 and in position to take the series (and a division lead if the Cards lose). Despite a brutal interleague schedule.
  18. It's better IMO. Get all the errors and bad plays out of the way and come back with a fresh game. Losing a 4-3 game or a game you should have won kills your win total - every team has these types of stinkers.
  19. The throw was on the foul side and Nunez beat it by about a hundreth of a second. That's not on McGehee.
  20. I like McGehee too but yeah he really shouldn't be playing everyday or hitting 5th. I like his "everyman" persona but sometimes hard work can only carry you so far when you don't have as much talent. Who knows, maybe he is just putting too much pressure on himself. I don't see how having Green come up wouldn't be anything but a plus. Absolutely I agree, but a coach isn't doing a guy any favors putting him in RISP positions all the time. Let him hit 8th and get some 2 out nobody on ABs.
