  1. I can't figure out what you are asking. Like, who would I trade him for THIS year ignoring all future years (contracts, age, etc.)? I think that's what you want. Trout, Lindor, Bellinger, Betts, Baez, Arenado, Devers, F Freeman, Rendon, Springer, Ketel Marte, Rizzo, Bryant, Blackmon, DJ LeMahieu, Most aces. Heck I don't know a lot of guys, just cuz Hiura is still young and unproven and not great on D.
  2. Ten years ago I understood the "Go for it NOW" mentality because of the sheer futility of the franchise for the 18-25 years before that time. The town and the stadium NEEDED playoff baseball. I think the last 10 years of being "okay" and touching the playoffs a few times actually makes it easier to re-build and do things the right way. The town is still desperate for a WS opportunity, but the fanbase is strong enough to wait a few years to make it happen and hopefully make it happen repeatedly. That wasn't the case in 2006-2008. The ages of Uecker and Selig is really the only motivation that might push the organization to sell out for the moment.
  3. Yep. I think this is the most likely scenario. Arcia is young and there are lots of off days coming up, so it's not like we NEED a backup SS daily. If Arcia gets hurt you deal with it in game the best you can and immediately put Saladino or Dubon or Perez on a plane to MKE. September is just around the corner.
  4. Elite pitching is better but more inconsistent and injury prone. I'll take Hiura.
  5. Something is up. Moose plays 3B daily and Hiura plays 2B daily. Shaw/Aguilar/Thames platoon doesn't sound plausible. Shaw in a soft platoon with Moose at 3B and Hiura at 2B doesn't sound likely either. For me, the most likely candidates to move are Thames (so Shaw platoons at 1B with his eventual transition there for 2020) or Hiura (moved for a TOR arm). They could easily go with 12 pitchers for awhile too. After the off day on Monday there is a 9 day game stretch and then they don't play more than 6 days in a row for a couple of weeks--and then it's September call-up time. Or they could put somebody with nagging injuries on the IL at some point (Hiura/Braun/Thames). It would be an awkward roster coming out of Spring Training, but you can make just about anything work for a month with 6 off days.
  6. Jaha was fine, he was just hurt all the time. He had a monster year in 96 and again in 99 for Oakland.
  7. Jaha was fine, he was just hurt all the time. He had a monster year in 96 and again in 99 for Oakland.
  8. Darryl Hamilton deserves a little more mention than just "cycled through." He overlapped the end of Yount's career but spent 6 quality years as a Brewer. I was more excited to get Marquis Grissom than Jeffrey Hammonds. Not really sure why.
  9. The trade of Babe Ruth to the Yankees says 'hello'. Considering you're not even saying that a specific trade would be the dumbest move in the history of baseball, but ANY trade including those players would be the dumbest move in the history of baseball is really not a particularly informed post. I'll take Fernando Tatis, Chris Paddack, Francisco Mejia and Mackenzie Gore for Hader. Or Yelich. That would be an unrealistic, lopsided trade (THIS YEAR). One Year ago that would have been 4 prospects. Shrug.
  10. Can Claudio and Woodruff play LF? Put him in to face Dyson next inning and put Woody in LF, Then just keep flip-flopping them letting Claudio pitch to lefthanders. I'd put that in blue, but I actually think this would increase our chances of winning the game.
  11. Didn't Sheeter fade late in the season in '08? Even as we made our big push with CC? Not really. He was pretty consistent all year. Looking back he didn’t really have a bad month at all. Though to be fair I was referring to their overall stats...not as specific as you are referring to. Feels we have guys who may have flashy stats, but put up a mid to high 3 ERA. Gallardo and Greinke both had ace stuff/secondary stats, but end of the day they gave up their fair share of runs. Yeah, I looked back and saw that he was pretty good. I guess CC going God mode overshadowed him a bit but he was fine.
  12. Wow, 'Stache is on fire tonight. Take a look at the ballot in which Aaron was NOT a unanimous choice, and keep in mind that only 10 votes are allowed and once a player does not receive a certain percentage of votes he is not on the ballot for the next year. So, basically a few writers left Aaron off their ballot not because they thought he wasn't worthy, or that they were racists, but because they knew he'd get in anyway and decided to use their 10 votes for other guys to give them a chance to stay on the ballot. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982_Baseball_Hall_of_Fame_balloting
  13. It has to be a balance with making these decision. Brew Crew 92: just imagine if you were running the show. Just think of how many players you would have burned through already as you make your way down our minor leagues. You have a new flavor every day. It just doesn’t work that way. You can’t just burn people off the 40-man roster all the time with no consequences. There is a reason that no GM operates this way and it comes down to depth and money. Wait. You can’t run a MLB club like a video game? Having unlimited resources? My mind has been blown. Haven't we waived like 6 guys this year? And all of them have gone unclaimed? And some of them are back on the 40 man now (Jackson)? That isn't to say that I'm advocating for recklessness, but it's not like the last 5 to 8 guys on the 40 man are hot commodities that we need to be super careful with--especially since we are getting closer to September. Bring a guy like Supak up in August and we likely wouldn't even need to burn his option this year. I don't know if he is ready or not, but it always seems like pitchers we bring up start off really hot (Peralta, Suter, even Jungmann). It's also not like the 4th and 5th starter slots are anywhere close to being nailed down.
  14. I always thought those were squirt guns?
  15. The only times Shaw has really struggled was at the end of 2016 and see the beginning of this year. Both times he was a full time player until he lost playing time sure to struggling with the plate. I see no evidence he is affected more than anyone else with limited playing time. Shaw has a history of being excellent against righties and mediocre to bad against lefties. He was bad all of last year against them. There is nothing wrong with being the strong side of a platoon as a lefty as long as the rest of the roster fits that type of guy (it doesn't right now...can't have both him and Thames rostered unless Shaw starts playing a decent SS)
  16. Crazy homer by Donaldson. 96 MPH high and tight out of the zone. Nice 1-2 pitch, but Donaldson pulled everything in and yanked it right down the line.
  17. I suspect 99.9% of the message boards in sports are the same way. Pretty much Human Nature. Brewerfan.net has always prided itself on being part of the 0.1%
  18. Good, raising his trade value at just the right time. Or just stick him in the rotation and see what happens... 6-7 years is a lot of control.
