  1. Aram to the crew per bruce levine espn 1000
  2. Briefly- I understand the rule 5 draft but how does the minor league phase differ?
  3. I think Rollins always has been Plan B. Prince is Plan A and we all assume that isn't going to happen. Reyes, as much as I hope he is Plan B, is likely out of the Brewers price range as well. If the Brewers offered Rollins 4 years at say $48 million, they could theoretically get 80% of Reyes at half the cost. Rollins is the guy I believe the Brewers are targeting. I don't doubt that Rollins is a viable target, I just wonder how we get him away from Philly. I don't believe they have a superstar prospect to take over there do they? I just see them overpaying to keep Rollins- hope I'm wrong...
  4. Wasn't the issue with acquiring Furcal the money not being in the budget? I could be wrong but I thought that it wasn't in the budget and the money they would have had for Furcal was used on KRod?
  5. I'd have no problem with Rollins on a reasonable 3 year deal but his agent has stated it's going to take 5 years to get him to sign.
  6. This. I guess I was resigned to Furcal going back to STL. What would it take 12M over 2 years? This would be ideal versus overpaying for an injury prone SS and regretting it over the second half of his contract.
  7. Gets Napoli on a 400' flyout to end the 6th and camera cuts to Carp calling the Rangers all sorts of filth on his way off the mound. Where's Nyjer when you need him?
  8. I don't see the Yanks wanting Fielder after they just signed Martin to take over at C so Posada can DH. Not saying they're comparable hitters, but just that their plan is to use Jorge at DH.
  9. I don't think a 2nd round pick is going to be as valuable as it normally would considering the supplemental round is going to be ridiculously long next June draft.
  10. Does a Pavano signing end Greinke/Garza trade talks? God I would hope not. It might eliminate Greinke for payroll reasons but you'd have to think that DM would still be hard after Garza right?
  11. I think the frontrunner has to be BAL. It seems like McPhail has missed out on every single marquee free agent they've attempted to sign in the last couple years. I could see them throwing a ridiculous contract at Prince (which is what it would take for Boras to ok it) just to get that premier player in the fold. Plus they have a bunch of young arms that could work in a trade. I could see BAL throwing 7/175 at Prince. I know they made an aggressive offer for Texeira 2 years ago and also missed out on Victor Martinez so clearly they have money to spend. My only question is if you were Doug Melvin fighting for your job why would you do it? Long term it would definitely be in the best interest of the club, but winning in 2011...I don't think so. I guess he could make the trade and then make a play for DLee. But going "hard" after Pavano makes me think that DM is desperate.
  12. I'm with you that it's too steep. I think I would change my mind if the brewers were given a negotiating window to extend Greinke though.
  13. Not wanting to read thru entire thread but who's Greinke's agent? Has he stated he wants to go into free agency? Just curious...
  14. I want nothing to do with Crawford. After Werth got 126 mill, the commitment it's going to take to get Crawford will be 7-10 years and upwards of 150 mill. I'll pass...
  15. I couldn't agree with you more. Would I trade a young Scott Kazmir for an aging Victor Zambrano? Of course not, but we're talking about a 27 year old pitcher who's just entering his supposed prime. That and the fact that the Brewers don't have that top 10 pitching prospect anyway.
  16. I would think Doug needs to make a serious run at Greinke before deciding what to do with Fielder. If they are able to acquire Greinke for prospects and are in better position to compete in 2011, I'd think they'd only deal Fielder for someone they feel can step into the rotation this year. If that's not available, keep Fielder and sign a lesser SP for the #4 slot and make a run that way.
  17. You touched on it a bit, but there's no way Boston gives up those 3 if an extension wasn't imminent. If teams thought they could get something done with an exclusive negotiating window, it at least doubles Fielder's trade value IMO.
  18. As free agency plays out, I'd have to think that Baltimore is going to make a play for Fielder. They've missed out on Martinez and Dunn and seem to want to make a big move. Not sure if they have the pitching that DM is looking for though.
  19. I just don't see Kenny trading a SP at this point with Peavy's status being so uncertain. Last I heard there was some doubt about his being ready for spring training. His injury is one of great uncertainty due to the rarity of it. They really don't even have a minor league arm that's ready to step in as a 5th starter that I'm aware of. Kenny's aggressive trading has moved out the majority of MLB ready arms.
