  1. Not sure why LaRussa and Rasmus couldn't just get along. St. Louis just lost a big talent for an average pitcher. If Duncan can fix his command issues then it's not a terrible trade, but Jackson still will be a FA with Borass as his agent.
  2. Apparently now the Brewers are the dark horses on Beltran again. Still cannot figure out why for the life of me. Beltran can't play CF, and he would take Morgan's playing time anyway which isn't necessarily a good thing at this point. He'll probably cost a decent amount, even though he shouldn't because he's a Borass client and part of the deal would be not offering arby. Unless Hart is traded in this deal or another there would be no plausible reason why to trade for Beltran.
  3. The Astros must not want to trade Barmes, because I haven't heard much of anything regarding rumors of him, and you'd think the Brewers would be very interested if he were available considering he's played good defense this year and has hit decently.
  4. The NL Central isn't good, but either is the NL East after the Braves and the Phillies. The Nationals, Mets, and Marlins all suck. The NL Central just seems a lot worse because 1) The Pirates are tied for 1st and 2) There's more teams. As far as playing the Cubs and Astros, that's a lame excuse. First of all, the Brewers have barely even played the Astros this year, and have only played the Cubs like 2-3 times. So if all you need to do is beat up on those teams to be good then I guess the Brewers still have a pretty good shot.
  5. People posting these pictures are ridiculous. Did anyone actually watch the game? They showed him front and center, and he was doing the typical "two outs" gesture with pinky and forefinger. It was plain as day on FSN. Then he did the "throwin up the T" thing after that, also clear to see on the FSN broadcast. And if anyone actually watches any other games where Nyjer is playing, he always makes that gesture. When he doesn't have his glove on he makes the T with his hands, but he does it with his arms when he's in the field. I try to ignore the SF Idiots side of this story, but people coming on here with pictures of a bogus side angle makes me irritated.
  6. If Green were on there why wouldn't they just take him right away? What do they need to scout about him. He's tearing the cover off the ball at the highest level of the minor leagues and he's not all that old. Have you seen the Mets lately? They are a glorified minor league team. They would've taken him in a heartbeat and then only had 1 PTBNL.
  7. I'm personally fine with all of Barmes, Ryan, and Desmond. However I really haven't heard much on those guys regarding rumors, and particularly regarding the Brewers being interested. The only one we keep seeing is how hard the Brewers are trying to get Carroll. That's fine if they get him, he's a perfect utility guy and can play 3-4 times a week at SS for you which is better than 6 days of Yuni a week. The best option with LA is getting either Carroll and Furcal or Carroll and Blake, because Carroll can fill the other position as a utlity guy and both 3B and SS are severely lacking on this team. I just for some reason don't think Melvin will make all that big of a move regarding the infield. It sucks, because almost all of these guys don't have much in the way of value, which helps the Brewers but who knows. Maybe they're all asking outrageous prices.
  8. People getting excited that McGehee had a couple singles last night shouldn't. It was a blowout against a truly terrible pitcher, who wasn't just terrible against the Brewers, but against everyone this year. Just because he got some "hard" hits against fastballs down the middle doesn't mean anything. Honestly he's getting way too much leash, and RR seems to be in denial about McGehee this year. He still thinks McGehee is going to drive in 100. Anyone ever think last year was the fluke year and not this one? I know he's a fan favorite for people, but he's never struck me as a legit MLB talent. People also need to remember that the Brewers were dreadful in 09 (when McGehee started playing) and 2010, and I don't doubt that it's easier to hit when the games don't mean anything.
  9. I'm still not entirely sure why we're interested? The only thing I can deduce is that they're looking to move Hart. Braun is injured right now, but he seems relatively close to returning so that would make Beltran a bench player which makes no sense considering his production. They need a SS, and possibly a third basemen.
  10. I'd take Ramirez if it was reasonably priced prospect-wise, which it won't be. He's a bat that can instantly be put in the 5 hole when Braun is healthy and 3 hole when he isn't. Pretty good defender as well. I'd only be okay with this deal if they followed it subsequently with a SS deal though. It's a more pressing need at the moment.
  11. I don't think giving up a little more to get Headley in the deal as well is all that bad of a thing. He's a talented player who is bound to hit better outside of Petco park, and he's controllable. Not to mention he switch hits and plays 3B well defensively. The Brewers need a SS and a 3B at this point, so it makes sense. Now I haven't heard much about SD making Headley or Bartlett available but I personally think basically everyone save a couple of their SP's are available. I think Headley could be had for something like HiandTight said. Farris, Heckathorn, and someone else. Bartlett hasn't been playing great this year and has a bad contract for his play
  12. What do you realistically expect out of CF? Jacoby Ellsbury? Matt Kemp? The Brewers are perfectly fine in CF.
  13. I also doubt they acquire both a SS and 3B, unless it's a package deal. However, Rosenthal among others have reported the Brewers being interested in both, and Melvin seemed like he was looking around for both as well. At the end of the day, we have internal options at 3B. If they make a trade it needs to be for a SS. Though there are some package options available at this point Ramirez and Barney, Reynolds and Hardy, Headley and Bartlett.
  14. Not to be the guy who says what everyone has already said but...yeah the Mets and the Royals paid both buyouts.
  15. I saw that as well. Melvin also just did an interview on 620AM and he said he's still looking at more trades. Rosenthal predicts an impactful player (insinuating it as offensively and defensively) but I'm not sure there's really anyone like that out there, save for Reyes who is just completely unrealistic. I'm personally not in the Furcal boat as he's been hurt more than he's played the last few years, and this year is no exception. Not to mention he hasn't been good when he's actually played this year.
  16. It's pretty well known that La Russa and Rasmus don't like each other, so that's why there's been so many trade talks with him. If there was no issues personally between the two there's no way he would be traded. He has a ton of talent and actually produces most of the time. That being said, they are probably asking for a lot, and the Brewers have absolutely no shot if people still wonder. Not only are the Cardinals tied with the Brewers and will be battling with them the rest of the year, but the Brewers likely don't have the type of immediate talent that St. Louis wants.
  17. You think they need 3 more trades? Wow. I thought they needed a bullpen arm and a SS, so they're halfway there. 3B is a problem but they have internal options.
  18. There's really no need to worry you guys. The Brewers are simply being politicians. They don't have the 17.5 million to give the K-Rod and Axford has saved 20 in a row and 23 out of 24. No possible way Axford isn't the closer. K-Rod will only get games where Axford can't be used or already has been used (extra inning game).
  19. I still think a good defensive option is all we really need. Someone who doesn't pop it up everytime would be a bonus, but not entirely a necessity. Someone like Ryan or Barmes would be great, and likely a lot cheaper than Hardy and Furcal.
  20. You guys are amazingly critical of him. I hope I never have to get critiqued by you. Yeah he's a little quiet, but I didn't have an issue with it. The 'dead air' you guys are complaining about is a little much as well. It's TV, who cares. It wasn't all that noticable for people who weren't looking for it. Even Uecker has dead air on the radio side. And voice is a bit critical as well IMO, considering he's a color analyst. The color analyst doesn't need a "radio voice" as they call it. I thought he was great, offered insight that Rock never gives and actually has credentials as he was a great player for a stretch of time. Not to mention, he retired only a few years ago so he adds a lot more in terms of discussion about today's players and coaches. Anderson was acting odd around him though. Most of the time he was trying to rip JC for some odd reason, even if it was unwarranted. Though the gator arm comment was funny. Anyone who watches the TV broadcast every night knows how boring and annoying Bill Schroeder gets. He'll call a play wrong and see a replay that shows otherwise and still say it's wrong. I like homers, but he is TOO much of a homer, particuarly when it comes to protecting the Brewers players (ie struggling players). I get that it's in their contract not to say anything bad, but my goodness just don't say anything at all. I remember 2009 when JJ Hardy was struggling terribly, BA and Rock would consistently say "this is the hardest (insert batting average here) I've ever seen!" and "JJ is hitting the ball so hard it's gonna turn around any day now" and it never did. I should say, I don't hate Rock, he just gets very annoying and bland. He's 100 times better than the Cubs announcers.
  21. I personally am ready for Nyjer to bat leadoff, I think he's better suited there anyways and he's earned it. Plus, Corey Hart bats WAY better in the 2 hole, and I'd rather have Rickie move down then Morgan because Rickie is a run producer. Morgan Hart Braun Fielder Weeks 3B Lucroy Betancourt P It really boosts your lineup honestly considering Rickie is in a run producing spot, and Hart is in a spot where he's seen a lot better power numbers. T-Plush is in a spot better suited for his skills as well.
  22. I'm now going to assume that he gets the starts throughout the Cincy series. If he fails to produce during that series though, I think a move needs to be made. Whether it's lateral in having Wilson/Counsell play more or if they bring up Green/play Gamel there. They just can't afford to have so many black holes in the lineup. Hart's had a bit of "power surge" I guess but he still hasn't looked all that good, especially not batting 3rd. He honestly bats the best in the 2 hole behind Braun. Makes you lose Morgan up there though, which is tough. Just brings us back to the age old "should Rickie Weeks bat somewhere else" argument. That's a whole other topic though.
  23. Well now what if Casey continues to struggle after this HR? Now the excuse is going to be "well he just hit that clutch HR the other day..." Hopefully he does actually break out of the slump because we need a 3B at this point.
  24. Only thing is McGehee adds really nothing off the bench at all. Little defense, limited positions, no real offense at this point. It's a risk with Green, but McGehee is killing the Crew right now. Green wouldn't be facing LHP all that much anyways.
  25. I'm on board with Kotsay being cut to bring up Saito. Then make another move either today or after the Twins series to bring up Green or something. Only problem is Kotsay is Ron's best bud so maybe that's why it will be so 'difficult'. My personal preference: Saito up, Kotsay cut McGehee sent down, Green brought up Then maybe Gamel down and Boggs up It just seems so obvious as all of those are in house moves that help your ball club out, some of them significantly. Boggs offers more offensively and defensively then Kotsay, Saito is your set up guy once he gets his feet wet again, making Loe your back up 8th inning, and situational Todd Coffey 2009 type reliever. McGehee is terrible right now so Green is an upgrade, and that way you don't have to cut Counsell or Wilson. And then I'm not sure sending Gamel down improves the team, but I think it's going to happen regardless as they want him to get consistent AB's and Prince plays everyday.
