    Lincecum makes a lot of sense to me. The Brewers will need to replace Sheets at the end of the year regardless. They are overloaded with top-tier hitting prospects, while the Giants will be out of the running and looking to build their entire organization. The Giants won't be competitve during Lincecum's current contract, so they may as well get several major-league-ready prospects and get younger while Lincecum is still healthy.

    Parra goes 5 scoreless, gives up 2 in the 6th, Yost chats with him, he gives up 3 more and exits Shouse finishes off the inning Riskie pitches 7th and 8th, giving up 1 run Yost brings in Gagne, because he said he was available and Yost wants to make a point to the fans Gagne blows the save .. to be continued

    5 years apiece of two good/great hitters for a few years of Lincecum? That's a bit steep/risky.

    I'm more concerned about his ability to work with the pitchers than his bat based on the report here. Next year should provide some interesting options behind the plate for the Crew.

    need to get tonight out of my head. Would be nice after this debacle to still win the series and then have 2 series wins already in Wrigley. Our future ace vs their ace.

    absolutely novao. I know the fans dont want it to happen, but Prince (and Boras) has priced himself out of Milwaukee and the Crew has plenty of adequate hitting talent to replace him (LaPorta and Gamel have no room to move up). It would be interesting to see what kind of pitching prospects the Crew could net for Prince.

    LaPorta played 1B in college, and Prince is on track to price himself out of Milwaukee. Would seem to make more sense to trade Prince in 2010 for those pitching prospects and move LaPorta to first..

    Nelson could get a shot for a lefty bench role sometime this year if he stays on pace..longer term his value might be as a trading chip

    I was referring to trading Prince/Hall in 2010.. I guess we're pretty much on the same page in that his first crack wont come for a couple of years and we'll see where his glove is then. Hopefully its at 3B...

    I dont think anyone expects HOF play out out of him, but the point is that there 'currently' is no spot for him to land..now if he becomes a decent fielder at third, he will instantly find a spot. In the outfield, if you think Hart is a capable CF, then you can move him there and then he'd just have to beat out LaPorta. Still have a couple more years of Fielder, and there is an outside chance he re-signs (I highly doubt it). But I'm not really sold on Hart in CF. As for third, the Brewers will take their time developing that position. They arent in the situation of having to rush up the hitters like they did with Prince and Weeks. Hall's defense provides stability out there and he leads the team in HRs. Overall, he's solid and won't be replaced unless someone clearly is better, and that includes fielding. The first chance Gamel is likely going to have is 2010, when Hall and Prince are in contract years and looking to get dealt. Now if Gamel's defense improves this year considerably and a decent pitching prospect or two is dangled, then it will get interesting, but its not where its headed right now.

    on most rosters, Gamel's bat would get a chance to play. But the Crew is loaded with big bats looking for a home right now. If he gets the glove going, obviously there will be room for him.

    the Brewers lineup was built for Cameron to be in the 2-hole. Instead of rearranging the lineup until Cam got back, Yost decided to keep it consistent and left a gaping hole there right behind Weeks and right in front of the cleanup hitters. If Cameron wasn't on the team, Hart would be in the 2-hole and Hall in the 5. This probably has cost the Crew already this year. So yes, his return will help this team considerably.

    all the buzz has been around Braddock lately. The other one that everyone is curious about is Jeffress. As far as the major league roster, there is much debate over Carlos Villanueva, who has pitched well, but the "projections" have said he is overachieving..

    After watching a decent offensive catcher (Estrada) hurt the pitching staff last year, it is so easy to admire the little things Kendall does for this club. It is no surprise that he comes from a great baseball upbringing and the type of experience and knowledge set that can really help the pitching staff. Just to hear how much confidence the staff has in his calls, and watch his ability to get out of his stance and make a play with his feet or awareness is a refreshing change. I know the Crew has a lot of young catchers with pop, which is nice considering the Moeller years, but I guess I'm more concerned about their defensive assets and knowledge of the game. Any chance of a feature article on that? What is the likelihood they make it to the bigs as a catcher?
