  1. yeah i like how the way the ball tails in and then away from the plate.
  2. What position does he project as? His profile says 3B, but he's been playing 1B. Does he offer anything defensively, or would the franchise struggle to find a position for him. His bat looks red-hot this month..
  3. you are never, ever going to find someone go "on record" about someone "about to get fired"..those sources must remain anonymous for obvious reasons. Any kind of personnel change won't be on record prior to it happening.
  4. I love how all the "legit newspaper" sources are quick to jump on railing against the blogs. It has always been dicey to "report" what is said in blogs and most paper reporters know better. But as soon as they ran with it and got in hot water, they jumped all over the railing on blogs and BF.net. I noticed the story was pitched as a "blogger from BF.net". The blog doesnt have anything to do with BF.net and BF.net wasnt running with it, JS was. So why, when cornered, do they rail on "all blogs" and "competing online news outlets". Then Oates jumps in with his 2 cents a week later. Way to take stand there big guy. As for the story, I'm not convinced either way yet. "We have no plans to fire Ned Yost at this time" is not exactly a ringing endorsement. Let's see what happens when the road trip is completed.
  5. Interesting thought..like maybe since he didnt get the innings to start the season, you're thinking he could be seeing Winter League play?
  6. Last year, Hardy and Fielder were on a ridiculous tear. Hardy started having back problems and hasn't regained his stroke. I doubt it had to do with steroids. Hart doesnt have the physique of a roider, so I doubt there's anything to that either. Fielder, who knows? Seems like his power is natural, but that is the only guy you can question...
  7. yeah trading Weeks makes no sense. If you look at his OBP, he's actually doing respectable for leadoff and his fielding has been okay this year. No reason to unload him unless a great offer comes, and that's not likely. It could be the weakest position in our system right now after pitching and you don't want to sell rock bottom regardless. Rickie is serviceable, but below expectations is all. He tends to hit balls right at people all year...
  8. wow, out by a mile there. what's with the bad calls at second?
  9. is it me or does CVs stuff not move all that well this year compared to last
  10. is that 6 HRs this week? They call that a Green Monster? Please.
  11. Hart has been as consistent as ever. He is the only player who hasn't dropped off from last year's stats. Across the board, there is a big dropoff. What is troubling is seeing players come in scorching (Cameron) and then after a few weeks with the Brewers, they can't do anything Hardy, Fielder, and even Weeks at the end were hitting much better last year. They should be improving, not regressing.
  12. unlike that 25 year gap, there is talent up and down the organization finally. The Marlins and Twins have given us roadmaps on how to field a competitive team without a ton of money...its up to the managers and front office not to screw that up..
  13. Am I the only one concerned about Hart in CF? I know he has speed, but I don't know that he breaks fast enough on the ball to be a long term solution there. We'd have 2 guys with limited range in RF/LF to make up for and it scares me. I think LaPorta will play 1B sooner rather than later, and I'd rather we have a Cameron-type out in center. Maybe Brantley will be that guy.
  14. you might need those pitchers with this double header
  15. 2 balls over the Green Monster in one game, interesting
  16. it's a good thing for small market teams. It helps sell more tickets by bringing in more fans or bringing fans of other teams to the ballparks.
  17. It's been said on other threads that Salome is not very serviceable defensively, which deeply concerns me. Lucroy is 2+ away.
  18. with Hall struggling and the team needing offense, Branyan provides a big lefty stick. Right now I think he should platoon with Hall. Very surprised he hasnt been called up.
  19. your linky no worky Edit: didnt see the part about Colon at first
  20. I don't see the gigantic hole. The dropoff from him to Laporta or Gamel shouldnt be much.
  21. I'd take Fielder for Lincecum straight up, and take my chances with LaPorta at first, then use the club option on Cameron if he's performing well.
  22. agreed on Nelson; he doesnt seem to have much value and I wouldnt slot him as a starter on this team, much less and adequate 1B replacement. But the Brewers should deal Prince as they cant afford to have so many defensive liabilities on the field (Braun, Fielder, Laporta, Gamel at 3B, and Hart in CF).. when they lose Sheets, they won't have adequate pitching. Gallardo is a great #2, but would be a very marginal #1 long-term. That would make for some fun games, but not very balanced. Bottom line is that with Sheets gone, they need pitching. The trading chips for top pitching sit in the corner IF/OF spots.
