  1. Now if we included Taylor Green (with Hardy & Parra for Cain).... Maybe, just maybe....
  2. I am sure the Giants feel that Hardy/Parra is not enough for Cain... Cain is quickly turning into a legit #1 starter! He is young and his contract is very reasonable right now... I am sure that some other team in need of pitching can and will offer more for Cain then Hardy/Parra... Just my opinion...
  3. It is days like today and forums such as these that I am addicted to Brewerfan.net! Wow is right! X and the rest of the posters here are amazing!!!! Thanks for all the insight! I am excited about Arnett!!
  4. Yeah, but from what I've been reading, he's no Adam Heether . . . I don't think anyone here has compared Heether to Hardy (or Escobar)... It has been more a conversation about his value to the Brewers in case they were to trade one of the two... Some posters have made the comparison with Heether and McGehee... Personally I would MUCH rather have Matt Cain then Buchholz... Just my opinion though!
  5. How very true! At this rate Mark Rogers and Zach Braddock won't hit 50 innings until sometime in 2010!
  6. This blows!!! When can we get out of there? You could argue that our best prospects are in B.C. but how do they develop when they never play? Ok ok I am overreacting but JEEEEEEEEEEZ!!!!!!!
  7. So the question I have is this... Does having an Adam Heether around make it easier for the Brewers to deal either Gamel, Escobar, or Hardy if a young, top of the rotation, starter becomes available? I posted a trade in the other forum that suggested a Alcides Escobar/ Taylor Green/ Brendan Katin for Matt Cain... Obviously for those that feel it is more beneficial to trade Hardy you can put him in place of Escobar... Does Heether provide enough protection to make a deal like this or do we see if there is any value to a Heether/Katin type package for a late season rental (Randy Johnson) as previously posted?
  8. TGJ on base five times thru 7 innings tonight (2 for 2 and 3 walks)... Now hitting .325 with an OBP of .426 in his first 14 games with San Diego... Good for Tony!!!
  9. Just because.... As of 6/6/09 he is hitting .348, on base of .449, is slugging .573, for a 1.022 OPS (in AAA).... Nice!!!!
  10. I agree with endaround... Adam Heether is a great option!!! :-)
  11. Seriously, we read your first 30 posts on Adam Heether. If you really want an "Adam Heether" thread - just start one.Wow, maybe chill a bit? Seriously! My apologizes for ruining your day! My original post on this subject was to propose a deal that included Escobar. It had nothing to do with Heether...
  12. Dillon wins this one as he goes 3 for 3 and reached base 4 times in the Tampa win! Dillon was 2 for 2 and was hit by a pitch vs Sabathia... Tampa gets 4 runs against Rivera in the 9th for a 9-7 victory!
  13. Well Hardy still has another year under our control plus there is another player down at AAA named Adam Heether who keeps putting up numbers and nobody gives him a thought!!! If Escobar can bring me a big time, top of the rotation starter, we can compete for a championship in 2009 and 2010 with Hardy! That, along with the success of last year, would make a nice 3 year run I never imagined I would see again in my lifetime! Heck even after Hardy leaves in 2011, if we don't have Escobar, we still have another year of Prince, Braun, Weeks, Hart and Gamel in our lineup! By then a few of the other positional prospects will have arrived and we would still have Gallardo, Cain (if we were to trade Escobar) & Parra in the rotation! That could be another successful year! To me it's about trying to win a World Series Championship while we have this core here! The time is NOW!!!!
  14. A. Escobar, B. Katin & T. Green for Matt Cain?
  15. It amazes me that Heether doesn't even get mentioned as a possible option... At some point we are all going to have to take notice of what he is and has been doing at Nashville!
  16. That's actually not a bad idea. I put his numbers in the MLE calculator at minorleaguesplits.com for the past two years in Nashville (roughly 500 at bats) and it came out to .288/.372/.421/.793 with 29 doubles and 10 homers. I know he's older, but if he can play decent defense, that's a pretty good option. He has progressed nicely over the last few years... I know he plays 3B, SS, & 2B so at very least he can be Counsell's replacement at some point! I agree that he is a little older but hey Nelson Cruz and Lance Nix seem to be doing well now that they finally got a chance!
  17. That is where Adam Heether comes in!!!! :-)
  18. Heck I would be willing to give them Escobar & Parra for just Lee... If they are willing to take Suppan's (or Hall's) contract as well!!!! ;-)
  19. Don't get me wrong, I like DeRosa as well but considering what it would take to get him (prospects wise), add to that what he is to get paid (this would leave less to acquire a much needed SP)... My preference would be to give someone like Heether a chance and acquire a 'top of the rotation" starter that is more than just a half year rental! Cain or Lee would be just fine in my opinion!
  20. Cain is indeed the #2 there and pitching like a #1.... Manny is a #3 here and pitching like a AAAA much less a #5 at this point....
  21. Josh Butler has not walked a batter in 10 innings covering his 2 starts at AAA but he walked 23 in 51 innings at A+ Hopefully he keeps up the new trend at AA if that is now where he is headed!
  22. I would give Adam Heether a shot before I would make a trade for DeRosa... Heether plays 2B, SS, 3B and according to some others on this board, he is very comparable to McGehee if not better!
  23. Would we be able to get Matt Cain from the Giants for the price of Escobar & Parra (and another top 10 positional prospect such as Taylor Green)? Cain is signed through 2010 with a team option for 2011 at a very reasonable cost... Would an extra year of Cain (compared to Lee) be worth it? Would the Giants consider something like that?
  24. The longer we stick with Manny (3-7 W-L, 6.75 ERA, 1.83 WHIP) the more we are going to wear out our bullpen.. Especially since he hasn't gone more than 6 IP since last August (against the Nationals)... He has been getting progressively worse month by month dating back to last year...
