  1. Seriously, has there ever been a team with an 'opening pitcher' that only pitches the first? I don't think that would be too terrible of an idea. The first time the heart of the lineup sees the starter would be the 3rd inning. You're most likely going to have to use relief pitchers anyways...
  2. Good to cut the lead in half, but I'm super nervous about the pitching.
  3. I think there equally matched but the Brewers have laid an egg in the series so far. While Monday was a joke, RR is totally at fault for this start. No, it's Yo's fault for the 4-0 start. RR didn't give up 4-5 hard hit fly-balls. He should be getting the ball on the ground or striking guys out. While Gomez would have caught Jay's ball, that doesn't excuse Yo for pitching terribly the rest of the way and walking batters.
  4. Has a team ever tried this: start a decent reliever in the first, then have your starter pitch 2-7 or 8?
  5. Had a huge pit in my stomach after they didn't score in the top of the first. Just had a terrible feeling considering they've given up 13+ runs in the first this playoffs.
  6. Terrible feeling about this game and this inning. First inning has been pathetic this postseason.
  7. Stuck with it the whole time. Good thing baseball doesn't have aggregate scoring.
  8. Glad I didn't turn it off yet! Turn your hats upside-down!
  9. On a brighter note: It's like a new 5 game series against a team who already used up all their luck.
  10. I haven't turned off a game early yet this season due to poor performance... really tempted to tonight.
  11. They really need to expand instant replay to plays at first... even if a team is given challenges or something like that. With the slow-mo you can tell in no time what the correct call should be. I don't know about balls down the line, because that affects runners on base, and it's hard to tell where they'll end up.
  12. What do you know, two hard hit balls to the warning track that result in outs.
  13. Incredibly frustrating game. Ball bounces the wrong way, sets up runners at 2nd and 3rd instead of 3rd with one out, then when the run finally scores from third, they call a double play on a terrible call. Legitimately the only close plays the Brewers had was the ball landing foul with the pitcher up, and Lucroy not being called out on strikes before getting out on the next pitch. I know you make your own breaks, but come on, this is stupid. 2-3 balls a foot within Morgan or touching his glove, a ball off Harts glove, a ball to Hart from Pujols that is a foot from being in play, the play in the first with the ball going off Marcum's hand... ugh just so many.
  14. Brewers cheating again. The whole stadium went blue so the ump couldn't see the ball right down the middle... called it a ball.
  15. Seriously, can we get a single break? That's a foot away from bouncing off the wall and having a run in with a runner on third.
  16. That would have been ludicrous to PH for Marcum in the 2nd.Tell me why. What's the downside, besides "it's outside the box and Roenicke never thinks outside the box". If Lucroy knew a pinch hitter was on deck, he wouldn't have been flailing away 3-0 or 3-1 and may have worked a walk. If a competent pinch hitter or Hart delivers, it's a 2-2 game and Narveson is in the game, and it's a 50-50 game again. Again, tell me the downside.Marcum had an easy 2nd inning and looked calmed down.
  17. Again, most breaks seem to be going the Cardinals way tonight. The ball squeezed in an impossible space... I don't understand how that got by.
  18. The problem wasn't pitching to him, it was throwing him a freaking 88mph non-mover up and across the plate.
  19. Lucroy's been thrown some mistakes. He really needs to capitalize on those.
