  1. You say this after Hariston swung at the first pitch, before popping up. Hariston's playing really bad lately.
  2. Hart strikes out RISP, Braun can't advance a runner to second and Fielder strikes out and can't advance a runner to second. Again, it isn't just the bottom half of the lineup.
  3. It's situations like these that should get some of the blame placed on the top of the lineup as well. Across the board RISP has been problematic, and not just the bottom of the lineup. Every play has been bad batting in runs the last couple of series. Yuni literally had 40% of the Brewers RBIs last series. I'm fine with him grabbing 4 RBIs in a series. I'm not going to blame him more than the top 5 hitters of the lineup (yes including Casey) for not producing more runs in the series. And I do think it's a lateral move between him and Hariston in terms of RISP. Yuni batting in front of Casey managed to get 4 RBIs in the Phillies series, and Hariston in 99 AB has managed to get the same amount of RBI's. He's been really bad with RISP, like the rest of the team. I don't think it would be a downgrade, but I don't think it'd be an upgrade either.
  4. I thought it was a reasonable call. He definitely was far enough off the line that it prevented the catcher from making the throw. I wonder if Roenicke's eternally optimistic approach has something to do with the poor fundamentals on this team. I don't think he was off the line. He just wasn't in that nice little painted box they have down the line. To me, that's like the 3rd base coaching box. It's there but nobody ever really uses it and it's almost never enforced.A coach in the 3rd base box doesn't cause a runner to be safe. How often do you see a ball hitting a player going to first? It's very rare, and when it does happen, I'd be shocked if the statistical rate is 'almost never' on balls that hit runners who are out of the baseline. I took a picture of it, and I'll upload it, but he was clearly out. And justifying the umpire is awful because he didn't make a bad call is really backwards. I'd rather have umpires try to call a fair game than doing 'make-up' calls to even things up.
  5. How does Morgan clearly running outside the baseline make an umpire awful for making a correct call? How many times do you see that called unless the runner is way into the grass? He was only marginally out of the baseline, that goes without being called more times than not. And with 2 outs and Braun coming up that's a huge call. We really not playing well in any facet of the game right now. Even if we win this game (which I'm doubting), we certainly have done our best to lose or make it as hard as possible. When was the last time you've even seen that happen? I don't know if it hit Morgan, but it damn well could have, and definitely affected the play. I think the process is pretty simple for the umpire: was he safe? yes. was it close to hitting him or did it hit him? yes. Was he in the baseline? no. Argue with an umpire for making a bad call or missing a tag... but it's silly to complain about an umpire for making a correct call.
  6. How does Morgan clearly running outside the baseline make an umpire awful for making a correct call? And I'm not saying that Morgan did the wrong thing. If he runs in the baseline, chances are, it doesn't hit him and he's out. If he runs outside, the first baseman could lose sight of it and the umpire could let it go.
  7. I take it Casey's starting because he wants Green to come in late for Weeks. I doubt well see Craig come in tonight. Could be wrong.
  8. This umpire has some LATE strikeout calls. Makes me nervous on offense on a close pitch. Edit: Pirates have two on, no outs.
  9. Why does it seem like the Brewers have the worst interviews when they're doing bad? It makes watching infuriating. Edit: and lately everyone 6, 7, 8 have been doing dreadful. Lucroy has below a .150 average in the past 15 games, Jerry Hariston is below .200 with RISP with the Brewers, Casey is... well Casey, and Yuni is... well Yuni. I guess the one positive is that Yuni lead the team in RBIs over the last series? But all-around the entire offense can't hit with RISP lately.
  10. It wasn't hindsight. People on here have been discussing Roenicke's love of the bunt all year. And even if the bunt was laid down, it would still be an out given up.There's a difference between bunting with player hitting over .275 and bunting when your pitcher is at the plate. This situation: good. Morgan bunting with a runner at 2nd: bad. And having bad defense cost you 1 run in this game shouldn't be an issue if the offense was doing its job verses a terrible pitcher. The Brewers should be able to score enough runs to not have the defense carry the team.
  11. Greinke statistically has a much better chance of laying a bunt down and advancing the runner to second than he does at getting a hit (and not grounding into a double play). It's easy to say he should have swung away on hindsight, but if he would have grounded into a double play, there would be a lot of angry, angry people.
  12. Give that guy a gold glove and give the Pirates a pretzel for tying the game on a homer!
  13. Would have been one out anyways. That same ground ball gets a run. Runners at 2nd and 3rd isn't a double play risk either. If he doesn't score, you're looking at Lucroy with runners at 2nd and 3rd with 2 outs. Edit: terrible throw by Casey, terrible pick by Fielder. Week's throw was really, really bad.
  14. Why was Weeks sent? He's not running well and there was only 1 out. That ground ball would have definitely plated the run anyways.
  15. Yeah since I couldn't see anything, I just went by Brian. Got my hopes up. RATS.
  16. WMLW doesn't support HD. Hell, it doesn't even support standard definition. It's somewhere in the 1993-1994 range. I don't understand how the CBS affiliate in a big city like Milwaukee still doesn't support HD. I live in the Fox Cities and all of the Green Bay affiliates support HD, even the dinky little CW affiliate does. So if MLB Network can get an HD feed, why can't FSN for those of us outside of Milwaukee? Is the game aired on FSN in non-milwaukee markets? I don't know why MLB Network would be able to get an HD feed, using FSN's equipment, but FSN not being able to broadcast their own stuff in HD. Edit: Good job Braun, Prince, Casey... great batting against a great pitcher. Lets get greedy now.
