  1. Well, I was one inning early. We got our token run in the sixth. Still, it probably doesn't matter. Helms will be back in the lineup tomorrow, Im sure.
  2. Johan Santana is throwing a one-hit shutout for the Twinkies, so my fantasy team is getting a boost tonight. So not all is bad, I guess. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  3. .I hate them. I really do. How about interviewing OUR coaches and players and asking them why they continue to hit like absolute crap and refuse to make any changes, rather than interviewing all these players from other teams about there star players? I know I would have a few choice, pointed questions for our coaches.
  4. Uecker going into a sermon about how not hitting is frustrating is becoming a nightly occurence.
  5. By the way, did I tell you guys Greg Maddux is on the verge of winning 300 games and is a HOF pitcher? He's a Gold Glover, too.
  6. Are Sutton and Schroeder calling the game for FSN North or FSN Chicago? If I were an uninformed observer watching my first game, I would say the latter, considering all they have done is drooled over Greg Maddux and the Cubs so far.
  7. Out of town update: 8th inning: Pittsburgh 7 Atlanta 4 That thud you hear is the Brewers hitting the NL Central cellar.
  8. Man, Sheets is getting absolutely clobbered. If Daron Sutton says one more thing about carreer stats for Greg Maddux I am going to throw my remote at the Television. Daron Sutton? Silence? At any time? Good luck.
  9. So, in which inning - the seventh, eighth, or ninth - will the Brewers score their token run so they don't get shut out?
  10. Another GIDP. Ah, its nice to have our best hitter in the #3 hole. Oh, wait....
  11. This club is on the verge of a monumental collapse, folks...
  12. Besides Brady Clark is on fire right now...cut the man a break. Yes, he is...so why can't Jenkins or Podsednik, who have both been sucking for quite a while now, take a seat for a few games?
  13. Does anyone have some stats regarding Maddux to suggest why Grieve is not starting again? Yeah...Clark is 2-for-4 against Maddux, while Grieve is only 1-for-4. Im sure Yost saw that and said, "Well, case closed...Brady, you're in!" Grieve's patient style at the plate and his great eye seems like a good fit against Maddux. But, Ben draws walks instead of slapping weak singles all over the place, so he is in Ned's doghouse.
  14. And this is why the team is so bad. No, its actually because of this: 5. Lyle Overbay, 1B It's a joke that Overbay is batting fifth. I mean, what the hell do you have to do to make Yost actually move our best hitter UP in the lineup? And mark my words...this acquisition of Russell Branyan officially makes Ben Grieve the last man on the bench. Its a shame, especially while watching Geoff Jenkins continue to suck on a nightly basis.
  15. I'm not so sure about Overbay in the five slot, but we'll see. Yeah, most teams bat their best hitter in the #5 hole. I certainly hope we see more like the last 1/2 of the inning and less of the first. You actually think the Brewers are gonna score two runs?
  16. ...And the wheels have officially fallen off....
  17. I'll bet LaRussa had trouble holding back the giggles when he got the lineup card this evening. Imagine him telling the St. Louis media: "Well, we only scored one run last night, so I decided to swap Pujols and Rolen's spots with Roger Cedeno and John Mabry. That sounded like a good way to get things going to me."
  18. Yeah...let's move our best hitter DOWN in the order...that will certainly make things all better. Good grief.
  19. Brady Clark is good enough to hit second, but Ben Grieve isn't. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  20. Rusch walked 4 guys in 5.1 innings the other night. But the Brewers didn't hit much against him, either. Two hits off Glendon I believe, correct? As long as the opposing pitcher doesn't walk an obscene amount of batters against the Brewers lineup, I would argue that he has better than a 60-40 chance of winning.
  21. Blech, are you serious here? Yep. If you haven't noticed the Brewers are 3 games over .500, for the first time in over a decade, they are on pace to finish like this. True, but 84-78 isn't going to make the playoffs. The brewers need to attempt to acquire an above-average bat that is not getting payed to much. I know that does sound a little easier than it really is. Exactly. Why can't the Brewers just try this season, have a lil fun in '04....c'mon!!!!!!!! They are trying. They just aren't good enough. That's why they should be sellers this year.
  22. When someone like Greg Maddux brings his "A" game, we probably won't win. That's just how it is. That may be true, but it seems like any pitcher who brings ANY sort of game that doesn't include walking people gets a win. EDIT: Example: Glendon Rusch. If the Brewers want to keep this pipe dream of the playoffs going, they have to actually beat some good pitchers. And they have to win games other than having it handed to them, a la yesterday's game.
  23. But were you saying that Yesterday? And will you say it if they win tomorrow to split the series? At least wait til we're further back of the wild card than 2.5 I would have, had I been here yesterday. The Brewers may only be 2.5 games back in the wild card (it will be 3.5 after today), but they will have five teams to pass. EDIT: And two of those teams at the head of the pack, San Francisco and San Diego, are two teams the Brewers don't play again this year.
  24. Like I said two days ago, people... Sellers. You can start with the man currently on the mound.
  25. The offense is looking particularly craptastic today.... Today is certainly not much different than any other day. Five hits per game seems like the max for this club. EDIT: Then again, when Yost REFUSES to play the man with the second-best OBP on the club in order to satisfy his quest to get his good-glove, no-hit favorite player 400 AB's, what do you expect? Can't wait to see how the Brewers look against Kerry Wood tomorrow, who dominated the Cardinals in his last start...
