  1. Sellers. These guys just aren't good enough, folks. Playoff-caliber teams score runs. This group can't. Its gonna piss some people off, but with the glut of teams still "believing" they are in it, Doug getting his tradeable guys on the market now could pay dividends. We're sellers, people. Its time to face it.
  2. Careful what you say about Yost JaN! Some would have us believe that his RA RA attitude MORE than makes up for the fact that he's nearly clueless with his in game decisions. Anyone who has been here long enough knows that I am NOT a Yost fan. He might be a great motivator, which in-and-of itself is a good thing in pro sports, but he is one of the poorer in-game managers in baseball today. There are two more important people on that coaching staff than Ned Yost: Mike Maddux and Rich Dauer.
  3. Lets PH for Ben Grieve now, with nobody on and one out in the 8th, but not PH for Moeller with two guys on base in the sixth in a game where runs are at a premium. Im sorry, but Yost is a HORRIBLE in-game manager. Not shocking, because they say the same things sometimes with Bobby Cox...
  4. What a shock. Jenkins does the worst possible thing with runners on base. How many of you would like to see Lyle Overbay in that spot? Or Ben Grieve? Or even Keith Ginter? Me too. Yet, Yost refuses to take a guy who has looked awful all year at the plate out of the #3 spot.
  5. How many times has Ned Yost had a full compliment of bullpen guys, yet always selects the WORST possible candidate? Burba, a ground ball pitcher, is there. So is Wise. Yet, he brings in Bennett, a guy who has failed time and time again in "tight" spots. That being said, the Brewers can't expect to stay in games where they have only three hits. You can draw walks till the cows come home, and it makes the overall OBP look good, but you have to get hits to score some runs.
  6. According to the SF Chronicle, Jason Schmidt will pitch only in an emergency basis (if the game goes extra innings) because he threw 127 pitches on Sunday. This probably means either Sheets or Glavine will be the second pitcher in the game after Clemens.
  7. Lineups AL 1. Ichiro CF 2. I. Rodriguez C 3. Guerrero RF 4. Ramirez LF 5. A. Rodriguez SS 6. Giambi 1B 7. Jeter SS 8. Soriano 2B 9. Mulder P NL 1. Renteria SS 2. Pujols 1B 3. Bonds LF 4. Rolen 3B 5. Sosa RF 6. Piazza C 7. Berkman CF 8. Kent 2B 9. Clemens P
  8. That is not true. Ben Sheets is 2nd in the NL behind Al Leiter's 2.05 ERA. Leiter does not have enough innings to qualify for the ERA title.
  9. That, my friends, will have the Brewers in the wild card lead by percentage points at the All-Star Break, and wouldn't that be a topic of discussion for the Fox broadcast team Tuesday night! I agree...and while I am a realist too, as a realist you also have to consider the fact that this team is for real, and can truly stay in the hunt for the wild card for a good long while. The pitching is more than good enough...and if guys like Jenks, Pods, and Helms would just be league average, the offense would get as much juice as trading for another bat would give them.
  10. Ugh.... so torn. I don't want Sheets going over 120, but I want to see a CGSO...... Then tell Ben to stop striking so many people out http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  11. More pitches for Ben is not a good idea... he's already going to have his usual routine screwed up by the All-Star Game, and our bullpen should be fully rested. He's been dealing, but there's no reason to unnecessarily get him into the 120-pitch range. Don't totally disagree, but Tuesday's All-Star game is exactly three days after his start tonight, and most pitchers throw on the side three days after a start. Hopefully Ben goes with orders from Ned that he gets only one batter. The Brewers need him to pitch the first day after the break on Thursday.
  12. If Brady Clark needs to play, why can't he give Geoff Jenkins a night off? Or why can't Grieve play LF for a night or two? Jenks looks pathetic up there right now. He is making a ton of money, and is barely above replacement level.
  13. Here's hoping Milwaukee can score a run tonight....
  14. Ned Yost benched Wes Helms. Hell has frozen over.
  15. No intro necessary. FYI, for those who may not know...the game is NOT on Fox Sports Net. However, it IS in WGN, and it is not blacked out...so, everyone in the Milwaukee area with access to WGN will have the game.
  16. Im going to be positive about this. If Cappy can give us a good start tomorrow, the Brewers can go face the Cubs at 5 games over .500. Then again, Pittsburgh is tossing Sean Burnett at us...
  17. Some of those balls just found holes. That's one of the problems. Obermueller can't strike anybody out. He didn't have any K's tonight. In 62 innings pitched this year, he has 28 strikeouts. That's pathetic. Pitchers get into jams all the time. However, the good ones can work their way out of jams by striking guys out. The bad pitchers do what Obermuller did in the sixth - compound on the problem. After the run scoring double, Obermueller walked a guy then hit another. Im not in the major leagues, so I give all the kudos for Wes for making it this far. However, it is now QUITE clear that Wes Obermueller does not belong in the major leagues. The only reason he is in the majors is because he is with one of the handful of organizations that could afford to bring him up and look at him for a half of a season. Ben Hendrickson is pitching so well in AAA right now that there is NO reason he can't be with the team full-time. You can't reap the benefits of the strong farm system by letting a guy sit in AAA despite showing for quite a while now that he is ready for the next level.
  18. Obviously this is a very important series, and I feel this game is the most important of the series, for this reason: the rest of the weekend's pitching matchups, along with the status of the bullpen for the entire weekend, rest solely on the performance of Doug Davis in this contest. http://www.terra.com.mx/Galeria_de_fotos/images/92/182997.jpg Word of warning for those who don't know: Oliver Perez is good. Very good. He is only 3-4, but look at these numbers: -- Only 65 hits allowed in 85 innings -- 1.14 WHIP -- 102 K And he throws left-handed. And he is only 22.
  19. Speaking of "atta-boys" - http://espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/6697.jpg 7-3, 4.02 ERA. Amazing.
  20. Atta boy, Danny. http://media.theinsiders.com/Media/MLB/56419_Brewers083103.JPG I was wrong about him this year, and Im glad I was.
  21. Extra innings would be a disaster in this game. Gotta hope Davis throws at least 7 strong in the opener tomorrow afternoon, and that Wise can give at least 5 in the nightcap.
  22. this was the best opportunity to stretch out his arm in a game situation and it backfired a little. This was the biggest lead Milwakee has had to get their relievers some work. It's not that bad of a situation The bottom line is that a game like this really makes you question why the Brewers are currently carrying 13 pitchers, especially with the starting staff throwing as well as it has of late. There just isn't enough innings for everyone to get work.
  23. I don't care what the score is in this game. I don't care what kind of lead the Brewers had. I just want this game over, with the Brewers getting a W. Coors Field sucks. Why any decent pitcher would want to throw in that place is beyond me.
  24. Moves like that make me skeptical that this team wants to truly win. That's just a stupid statement. Ned just has to get Brooks more work. You don't let rusty pitchers come into games at Coors Field. But to say that making this move means the Brewers aren't trying to win is foolish. With the starting pitching as strong as it is for the Brewers, there is really no need for 8 relievers on this club right now. You can make a case that you don't even need 7.
  25. The defense hasn't been good in this inning for sure, but you don't bring in a guy who has pitched one inning in two weeks into a game in Coors Field. You just don't do it. This inning all got started with a walk. This is the detriment to having 13 pitchers. No way everybody gets enough work.
