  1. Score score score. It's like Arena baseball or something. What are you talking about? Most baseball games have 27 hits between the two clubs in the 8th inning. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  2. You are now seeing why keeping so many guys in the bullpen can be a detriment at times. Brooks has thrown just one inning in the last two weeks. Expecting him to be sharp is asking a lot.
  3. Can we get a "Bennett" from someone ?? http://sportsmed.starwave.com/media/mlb/2003/0713/photo/a_pujols_il.jpg http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports/padres/images/030713bennett-ejected.jpg http://media.theinsiders.com/Media/MLB/174242_GaryBennett.JPG That enough Bennett for ya? He-he http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif
  4. Is it a good thing or a bad thing that Jimy Williams could be fired? I think bad. According to Gammons on Baseball Tonight a couple nights ago, Williams will be fired the day after the All-Star break if Houston stays where they are in the standings. Hopefully Jimy Williams puts Houston in such a big hole that their new (competent) manager can't right the ship. Picking up Beltran is nice, of course, but I think not having Dotel will hurt the Astros more in the long run.
  5. Needless to say, this series is huge for the Crew, as Colorado has never been a place the Brewers have historically played well. Plus, the Brewers face two pitchers in the first two games in Estes and Cook that handled the Brewers in Milwaukee. It should be noted that the Rockies are the last non-divisional opponent the team faces before the trading deadline next month. If the Brewers are going to make a true step forward in the standings, it has to start now.
  6. But its due to the offense that we continue to lose, not the manager. That is probably true, but it is the manager's job to put the team in the best possible position to win. The Brewers hadn't put together a rally all game long and were down 2-0, but yet put the first two guys on in the 7th. I can see bunting the guys over down by one run in the 8th or 9th inning, but not in the 7th inning...especially with a full compliment of PH available on the bench. If Yost truly wanted to bunt the runners over so bad, why wasn't a better hitting pitcher (Obermueller, Capuano) put in there to do it? Sheets had already bunted into a DP earlier in the game, and has proven for many years now that he sucks as a hitter. He lets Sheets bunt, and then takes him out to pinch-run for him with Liefer. And then Yost says after the game that if Sheets had gotten the bunt down, he would have been back out for the 8th inning...after throwing 110 pitches through 7 frames. Its like he isn't even watching what is happening on the field. I have no problem "believing" in your players to get the job done. However, you can take it too an extreme so it becomes a fault (example: playing Brady Clark five days a week). I don't care if Ben takes bunt and batting practice every damn day...he has proven time in, time out during the games, when it really counts, that he can't handle the stick. With that being the case, there is no real reason he should have been hitting in that situation. Being a "hard worker" at something and having the right "attitude" only takes you so far. Sooner or later, you have to have results to show for it. I'm sick and tired of Ned Yost using work ethic and/or attitude as the #1 (and sometimes only) reason for some of the decisions he makes.
  7. Yost: I'm very proud of this homestand. They were 12 well played ball games. There were no blowouts." No kidding. Hell will freeze over before the Brewers blow anybody out. It's funny listening to the guys in charge when the Brewers lose. When the team loses, its right back to the company line..."We played hard, played very well, etc..." How you cannot be disappointed with a 7-5 homestand and scoring just 8 runs in three games against the worst pitching staff in the majors is beyond me.
  8. Yost's excuse on Ben's bunt: "He's been working hard on his hitting". "Benny's been getting his bunts down all season long." Um, Ned, apparently you forgot about the nice DP he bunted into earlier IN TODAY'S GAME. Glad to hear the media all over Ned's ass for this.
  9. Like I said earlier, the Brewers DESERVED to lose this game with that horrible managerial decision in the 7th. The Brewers get two on with nobody out and have a rally going, only to have our clueless manager have one of the poorest hitters on the team try to bunt them over. Not even that, but Yost decided to have Sheets do that after Sheets bunted into a DP earlier in the game. Just terrible.
  10. The homestand just went from pretty good to downright bad in the span of nine innings. Is THIS where the swoon starts?
  11. Atta boy, Brooks. Chacon falls behind both Hall and Counsell. What does Kieschnick to? Swing at all three pitches.
  12. Who will hit the meaningless Home Run to prevent the shutout? Brady Clark. That, along with Grieve's K in the seventh with a man on, will ensure Clark be in the starting lineup for the next week.
  13. Rockies score, 3-0. At least that will prevent Yost from having any excuse to bunt in the 9th...if Milwaukee even gets a guy on.
  14. Even Uecker sounds like he has given up on this offense.
  15. Yost will probably bench Ben Grieve for a week after striking out with a guy on.
  16. Sorry, Peavey, gotta disagree with you there. When you haven't scored yet in the game in the seventh inning and have two on with nobody out, Im sorry, but you don't basically give up an out. Down one in the eighth or ninth inning? Absolutely, bunt away. Down two in the seventh inning? With a full compliment of pinch hitters available? No way.
  17. Pinch-running for Sheets now.... Hi, Im Ned Yost, and I don't know how to manage a baseball game.
  18. This decision has got to go down as one of the all-time worst decisions I have ever seen a manager make. Sheets has thrown 110 pitches today. 2 on, nobody out, no runs scored today. And of course, Sheets with a terrible bunt. The Brewers DESERVE to lose this game with stupid managerial decisions like that.
  19. OMG....Ned is KEEPING SHEETS IN!!! What the hell???? 2 on , nobody out.... Fricken unbelievable
  20. Sheets is due up third in this inning, and he has thrown 110 pitches.
  21. Sheets final line today: 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R (0 ER), 1 BB, 10 K And right now, he is on the hook for the loss. Unbelievable.
  22. The Brewers have allowed Aaron Cook, a guy who has control problems, to throw 6 innings in 76 pitches. That in and of itself is unacceptable. The team may be a bit unlucky today with hard-hit balls right at people, but throughout this series the Brewers have done most of their offensive damage against the Rockies bullpen. To not be working the count against a guy like this screams poor planning on the part of the Brewers.
  23. Big Ben tries to lead the Crew to its fifth straight winning series. If the Brewers are patient at the plate today, they will score a ton of runs. Aaron Cook, while he throws hard, walks quite a few people Lefties vs. Cook: 2004: .333/418/.590, 1.007 OPS Last three years: .332/.411/.471, .882 OPS If Ben Grieve doesn't start today, he should pull a Jon Rauch and just leave the stadium.
  24. I think we need to bring up Hart to play right and trade Clark (not sure what we'd get for him though). I kind of doubt the Brewers could trade a guy who's OPS wouldn't cut it if he were a middle infielder. The solution to RF right now is to play Ben Grieve more. Its as simple as that. I find it funny that Ned Yost ******* about how poorly his offense is producing, but at the same time refuses to play a guy who gets on base nearly 40% of the time.
  25. "When I watch him in the cage, he has the best pure hands on the team. I'm not kidding. When Royce is right, he uses his hands better than anybody on the team." - Nedley, regarding Royce Clayton's hands Don't believe much of anything that comes out of Ned's mouth, except when he is talking about Brady Clark. "Brady's extremely valuable," Yost said. "He was one of the bright spots for me last year." -- Ned Yost, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Feb. 25
