  1. Interesting if Mauer had such a bruise to show he got hit there that he was high fiving Morneau with his right hand in the dugout after the GS.
  2. It's interesting seeing a slap hitting lead off hitter get on first and see that he is taller than Prince. In comparing him to other people's listed height he looks btwn 5'10'-5'11".
  3. put Hall into left field would you be all over Ned for doing it? Honestly!
  4. Where are the anti Counsell's after our studs K,K, and I will give Cameron a break but he K'd!
  5. I heard a great HS coach say watch JJ and Counsell when the ball gets thrown around the horn or infield practice: They are fundamentally perfect every time while Rickie will throw different ways. It's an interesting take while you're at the game but then again it would help to be bailed out by a taller first baseman sometimes.
  6. crewcrazy why the hate for a replacement player who happens to get on a lot? Maybe the big guys can knock him in. Nice stat Gorman plus Counsell can work the count!
  7. It was on Ch 41 on the dish wmlw. FYI for the future games wmlw shows
  8. I have two and sent you a PM
  9. Wow I wonder if Yost would have gotten ripped for Braun getting caught stealing third with lefty Prince up or having so many K's and only 3 hard outs last night? Maybe we are forgetting how Simba had Kendall throwing better last year but not this year. That all said big game so let's win series one!
  10. Unpredictability is a huge reason for success for many pitchers, throwing what they don't expect. When does unpredictability become predictable? I don't think that is an answerable question but it is one reason why the game of baseball is so great imo.
  11. yfinn no big deal I am making since I was asking a question. Are game plans set so that you throw off speed pitches when the hitter is expecting fastballs but my thought is if you do that all the time does that make it predictable and since Macha knew why would the other team not figure this out. Any finn this is not a rip but a general baseball question where I am sure it goes on with every team. If you never surprise the manager does that make you too easy to figure out?
  12. pogpkat remember when Teddy Higuera would throw a 3-1 breaking ball. Now that is traditional thinking but it was the game plan. If hitters were looking for it be it they did that and got predictable you could rip it. If you were looking heat you would let the pitch go. Point is if you know doesn't the other team know? I agree with stud pitchers like Rivera it doesn't matter but a pitcher like Bush needs to be unpredictable.
  13. Cheez I imagine that is what he was talking about also but if you are predictable won't others know your strategy?
  14. I heard Macha say this morning on the radio that when Kendall came to Oakland while Macha was managing, he bought into his system and worked so well with the pitchers he knew every call Kendall was making: Now is this a good thing? If Macha knows every pitch coming why do they think the other team can't figure out the pattern? Plenty of variations can happen but it struck me as curious being a good thing. Any thoughts?
  15. Saw that from Badger site talking Packers. Any news here? Escobar and someone for Peavy?
  16. No I based it on sitting four seats away from the owners and see their discust in how Burrell was playing. Ender you can look at the entire year if you want to base it on something but to see an owner flip out is very interesting.
  17. Interesting rip on RBI's when you look at splits: Burrell last year hit .283 with risp before the all star break and .177 after Ibanez hit .300 before the all star break with risp and .358 after. So Ibanez got hot and Burrell tailed off. Sitting close to the owners of the Phillies I saw the owner get so pissed at Burrell in a game he played horrilby in the field and at the plate. I could tell they were fed up with him. Here is how the numbers broke down: Burrell: Prior: 19-66 33 rbi's .283 After: 11-62 21 rbi's .177 Ibanez: Prior: 27-90 38 rbi's .300 After: 29-81 44 rbi's .358 Say what you want with rbi's but a second half difference of .358 vs .177 when the owner is pissed at you sticks out and simply put if Burrell hit what Ibanez hit in the second half @ .358 for the same rate of RBI's he would have doubled his hit total and RBI total and knocked in 21 more runs. But he didn't!
  18. He really busted his butt to first and landed hard on the base. He was limping right after. His hustle almost beat out the play.
  19. We had a bases loaded situation and so did Philly! Thanks Corey!
  20. DBox 120 row 2! Close enough to tell the Brewers to not swing at pitches in the dirt!
  21. Hart's hit was vs a leftie where he looks better so when he was up vs Lidge a RH Nelson is who I was calling for. A big slugger would have loved that last pitch. Corey looked better than lately but he still missed a 92 mph fastball down the middle. Defense and swinging at balls lost the game but if Ned didn't ph for Hart I can imagine the uproar.
  22. Maybe Sveum just wanted his skills @ 3B coach to look good. The freshest thing about the Sveum era is that people can't blame Ned and realize the players are out there messing up. Prince's laziness as a leader of this team is so wrong!
  23. Wow I would take Counsell's 10 pitch out, and two base hits over everybody but Prince last night. Cameron 1st pitch ground out, K, K and dp with the bases juiced. The problem with this team is they don't work the count and that is something the bottom of the lineup does.
  24. Having a 6'6" first baseman ala Dlee who in the paper showed he was on base on the dp grounder Cameron hit into would save so many infielders errors Prince allowed this year no fault to him but being 5'9" hurts. Also it doesn't help having Sveum rip Dale Scott saying it was a blatant he came off the bag. Wow with Dale behind the plate tonight. Ripping the umps when it is proven they were right is not a great way to start your 12 game managerial career.
