  1. I love the lineup! Let's get 25+ pitches in the first. Durham, Counsell and Kapler should really wear out the pitcher. Sheets will shine today!
  2. Wow FSN has been paying attention to brewerfan.net showing the travesty of Simba not being in the HOF. Just compare his numbers to his contemporaries, Bench, Fisk and Carter who are in and it reaks of injustice. Spread the word. Funny how former head of baseball writers assoc Drew Olson says it is the worst injustice in baseball. How come his other writers weren't so aware?
  3. 123 then 123 then 123 that was the Twins first three innings vs Sheets. Then Sheets struck out the first two in the 4th and pitched a lot of pitches to Mauer, Morneau and Kubel giving up the first run. The Twins stopped swinging at Sheets breaker in the dirt and got 8 of their 9 hits off of his off-speed pitches. We pop up off-speed pitches while the Twins go the other way. As long as the Brewers are going to be going for HR's all the time the Twins will be the "luckier" team. I choose to applaud their in game adjustment.
  4. You know it is little league night so I believe the kids will catch on with the OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cheer pretty soon. Missing Halladay and Listsch with their great breaking balls is huge. Overbay sat Sunday vs a lefty but I imagine he'll be in tonight. Not playing great but his .367 obp is better than every starter on the Crew except Prince and much higher than our team .321 obp. Wells was hurt a long time and came back on fire so watch out tonight vs a lefty. Toronto has great pitching, some patient hitting three ex-Brewers in Stairs. O and Mench which will be interesting seeing if he gets booooooed then Overbay following gets cheered.
  5. OK I will stick up for Counsell who does little things many don't seem to notice. Maybe tonight if you watch to see if he advances a runner or works a count you'll see what so many in baseball appreciate. Sometimes the approach is what helps a team.
  6. I don't know how this can be written and then not corrected! From AW a couple days ago: Serious business: When the Brewers go over their offensive scouting reports on the Arizona Diamondbacks, Micah Owings is the first pitcher they discuss. That's because the right-hander is hitting .297 with a homer and three runs batted in this season and is a career .320 hitter with five home runs and 18 RBI. Owens has such a good stick, Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin batted him eighth Wednesday against the Brewers. And it wasn't because he was trying something different, as Yost did to start the season. It's because Owings might actually be a better hitter than some of the everyday players. Micah Owings turns to Owens then back to Owings! Carelessness?
  7. The problem I have with OBP is it goes down when you hit a SF. A positive should not be a negative to a stat.
  8. I am 6' 255 and I can still do the splits while playing first and stretching for a ball, which could be due to my/his weight falling prey to gravity. So being 30 lbs lighter and 2-3 inches taller means Prince should be as flexible as you? We have seen way too many times Prince's inflexibility create a non play or an error for his teammates. That shouldn't be happening to a 23 yr old stud of an athlete.
  9. Last year Prince was 6 ft 260 lbs on the scoreboard This year Prince is 5' 11" 270 lbs on the scoreboard So maybe in two years we will find out the truth. His weight makes it hard for him to bend down on ground balls and possibly stretch on close plays at first or one hoppers. My guess is 5 ft 9.5 " and 285 lbs!
  10. In 2006 there were 91 season ticket holders who had been there from the beginning. There have been so many down years there is no way an off year would take that number down to 90. Baseball is too great of a game, to have young players who don't know how to move runners along any way it takes, to spoil it for us.
  11. Brad Lidge said two years ago that he hated Milwaukee more than any other major league town so keep that in factor when doing your 20/20 hindsight. What was interesting looking back at Gagne was the ground balls he gave up to start the inning. I am a big critic of signing him since he was a stud with roids and now last night his fastball was 88 mph but they were ground balls which is something the Cards do well and the Brewers try to hit HR's. It's a mindset our young players don't have but the scrappers for the Cards do. Game lost!
  12. 2nd row right next to Cards on deck circle: Face value with a gold parking pass: Monday night 7:05. Great fun sitting right on top of the action. PM me:
  13. I just don't understand the Prince defense is improving vibe. Back to back innings in last night's game the SS threw one hoppers to first and Prince doesn't reach out for it but makes a swipe while Albert makes a nice backhand stab. Error on Hardy inning continues while a taller firstbaseman or one who reaches out further would have had an easy short hop. That is something Prince can't help but it is a huge detriment to this team. 50 HR's you live the detriment but with so many close games and the pitchers not getting deep into games his defense needs to be factored in.
  14. I have a great view of the Brewers dugout and Simmons is always up leaning on the rail when the other team is up. Being known as a great sign stealer I can tell he is looking at the 3rd base coach trying to read him. As Simmons says his job is to think 3 or 4 steps ahead of Ned to help him for his later moves. As for Gagne's meltdown that blame has to go to Gagne and if not him at Melvin for getting the post roid Gagne instead of the dominant one on roids. Lack of clutch hitting and Gagne's ineptness is what has this team in their funk!
  15. A sad day for me since now there is nobody in MLB older than me! I wanted him to hang on forever. My favorite encounter with Julio was when he was with Cleveland and he just roped one out down the left field line into the first row just inside the 315 sign. Next time up I said nice rope Julio last time what did you hit? He caught on and said he pulled a 3 iron that just stayed in the fairway. Good quick humor for Julio!
  16. Let's see Prince was 0-3 Friday night then Saturday he hit the big HR and was 2-4 with 3 runs scored so his conflict was ????. As I figued out and mentioned before there are 9 more Saturday night games at 6:05 that they could have scheduled this since this is for season tix holders who are going to be here all year for the most part. There was never a set date so the letter I received dated April 11th saying there was a conflict for the April 26th date was just covering for Prince imo since 9 other dates would have been similar. It looked like some players didn't want to be there from reading this thread and I can only speak for Ryan being great but at least the other players were there or they don't think they're too big to opt out on the "season ticket holders". Could it have been possible Prince dissed the season tix holders and the Brewers PR knows how that would sound say they sent out a vague sorry. I wish someone would ask Prince what his sudden conflict was so we could know the answer or at least understand him more.
  17. Cameron has power to right center that died at Petco so he had to pull the ball for power. Batting second and hitting to right center is going get Cameron going. When he sees the ball fly out to RC compared to what he's been experiencing he's going to love playing here and the team will get one of the best baserunners in baseball on the paths. They need his help.
  18. I took my 10 yr old son and Ryan couldn't have been nicer to him. Ryan's real bat 35" 31.5 oz with Ryan Braun on it has my son showing it to all of his friends. Ryan's sig is unrecognizable but haivng his name on the bat makes it cool. Ryan said my kid's name was the coolest one he signed all day which was fun to hear: Joltin' Joe is written on his bat. Great job by the Brewers and thanks so much for Ryan filling in for Prince after he opted out
  19. dbox 120 row 2 next to Marlins on deck circle. 1:05 start: $60 each plus gold parking pass: $135 for a fun view of the game. PM or call me @ 414.975.5791
  20. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO went yard for the first time since Aug of last year or since he broke his hand by a pitch. Interesting seeing if this gets his confidence going.
  21. Just got back from the game and the 3 mistakes on the basepaths were huge but how do you throw 0-2 pitches over the plate to Utley and Burrell. Is it just because I see so many of our guys go fishing for balls in the dirt other teams swing at bad pitches too, see Turnbow's K's last night. This one is on Hall, Rickie for going on first move, Hart for having the ball in front of you and still making the first out at 3rd and Riske/Kendall for serving up fat pitches on 0-2 counts. 1 run vs Moyer is a joke and Digger Phelps had a big bottle in a bag! hmmmmmm?
  22. 7. Sixto Lezcano CF (1979) .308, 13Hr, 108 RBI 9. Ted Simmons C (1983) .308, 13 Hr 108 RBI Sixto actually was a bit different and you got Simba's great 83 season mixed in there. 28 HR's with 101 RBI's so 15 more HR's but 7 fewer ribbies. Better or worse is up for debate but that is accurate.
  23. In that big Yost mistake game yesterday let's see Hardy was 3-5 with 2 ribbies and Weeks, Braun, Fielder, Hart & Hall were 0-21 with 0 ribbies, 1 BB and 9 K's. Let's see if the 5 of them would have combined to get the 3 hits JJ got maybe the Brewers would have had a win. Blame the players when they play like they did yesterday!
