  1. Dont worry Ginter is just in a little bit of a slump. We all know that given a full season he will bat about .330 and his OPS will be well above 900. You can't use a month as a sample. As long as he plays 8 days a week, come September you will think he's the second coming of Brooks Robinson.

  3. Ford does suck, but you cant fault Yost for giving him an inning with a 4 run lead against the worst offensive team in major league history....... Hopefully this will speed up the processes of sending Ford outta town.
  4. The way I understood Ned on the radio today was they were only going to bring up Capuano if the bullpen was heavily used today. Otherwise he's going to go with Wise, Burba, Brooks combo with Cap making one more rehab start at AAA. The only way Cap was going to come up was, as Ned joked "if the game goes 14 innings again today", but if the bullpen is fresh he was going to go with a committee of guys saturday to make sure Capuano is fully ready to retrun.
  5. So how often does Jaimie Moyer give up doubles to the opposing pitcher? ***I would guess never since he moved to the American League.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/roll.gif
  6. The inning should have been over if Overbay makes the play. Let's see if they can come from behind AGAIN http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif
  7. Well so much for the nice AB. Ueck is bashing Billy pretty good for a play he just made... he called it "an embarassing play for the crew". I guess Overbay made an error and it went towards 2B and with the runner already to first base Hall tried to throw him out anyways and threw it so badly the guy that was on first base scored on the play. Ueck still harping on it. It's defense like this from Hall that keeps him from playing SS every day.
  8. If he can continue to take pitches, work the count, foul off tough pitches, and rip a single. He's going to start seeing more PT. I like his approach in AB #1 today. Consistency Billy, consistency.

Davis P 0 .000 Nice to see Ned stay with Counsell who has been swinging a pretty good bat lately, but also getting Billy Hall in there. Looks like a winning line up to me.
  10. Hate to see Counsell get a day off coming off 4 hits in two days, with a pair of doubles yesterday. Hopefully Billy can keep it going and we get that sweep we've been waiting all year for.
  11. I guess we're just going to have to agree to disagree. I guess I just wouldnt have wanted to waste Hall or Brooks with a solo shot to make it 3-1 or a single to start a rally (with a lineup that had nothing against against Hernandez). I would rather see if you can get somone on base, walk, hit, error whatever....and then bring up Brooks. I really wouldnt have had a problem with Hall hitting there I guess, but I wouldnt have hit Brooks there. Look at like the days Barry Bonds gets off. He doesn't come up when its' 4-0 in the 9th inning to lead off the inning and "start a rally". They only use him if the bases are loaded and he can tie the game.
  12. >>>> Why is Trent on the team? ****No idea!! He doesn't belong. He hasn't belonged all year. However, based on the players available and the situation I did not have a problem using him in the 8th. But he in now way deserves to be on a major league roster. Just to clear up..... Spivey (not healthy....Yost said on the radio he cant run yet..yes he hit late in the game, but that was with a runner in scoring position where he could have just jogged to first.) Bennett (hate to waste your backup catcher just in case) Hall and Brooks (I want them when they represent the tying run...not to try to start a rally) So it basically came down to Clark or Durrington. He went with Durrington tonight. Big deal. He's on the roster....that's the problem. Using him in that situation tonight was not.
  13. I'm glad you posted that.... I was going to but figured I'd get bashed since I'm turning into a big time Pro-Yost guy. I just love the job he's done with this team!! I still maintain that Durrington is the best option for a bases empty, leading off an inning at bat. Why waste your big run producers when nobody is on base and you are down 3-0. Also, I think down 3-0 in a game where you haven't touched Livan Hernandez all night looks like a good time to try to "straighten Bennett out". It's still a meaningful inning because you are only down 3, but it is improbable that you are going to win. If you dont pitch him in a game like this, when can you pitch him?? When it's 11-0 one way or the other?? I still maintain that Nedly pushed all the right buttons tonight.
  14. All you Hall lovers.... Heck of a play by him to end the 12th. I've been highly critical of his defense recently, but that was a great great play. Let's end this thing NOW!!!
  15. Hall gonna end it right now???? I hope so http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. COME ON KEITH!!!!!! Make me eat my words of 5 minutes ago http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'll gladly eat them. I love this team!!!!
  17. Ned Yost pushing all the right buttons. Oh wait...when everything works out..it's the players, right?? 5-5!!
  18. This is why you dont waste Brooks or Hall with the bases empty down 3-0. You save them when they can do damage and waste Durrington with the bases empty.
  19. Sad to see my prediction come true...... As Ginter's playing time goes up..... his batting average will plumet towards Wes Helms territory. I said that after his first 5 starts he was 0 for 17 and was ridiculed for "sample size". Well about 3 weeks later he's batting .247. The guy is a bench player. Also nice to see Counsell with 2 hits and Helms with 1 out of the 5 hits tonight to prove Yost right.
  20. Question for all the Bill Hall supporters?? What are you basing the fact that he is light years better than Counsell offensively on? The fact that he had a solid spring (22 games) and a walk off homerun in April? If you look at his numbers they are less that promising. He hit .264 in his minor league career. (581 games, 2160 ABs) He struck out 523 times to just 121 walks. He had a .388 slugging %. In 2002 with Indy he batted .228 over 354 AB's with an OPS of 573. In 2001 with Huntsville he batted .256 in 160 AB's (OPS was not a stat yet). In 2003 he was pretty respectabe at Indy hitting .282 in 354 AB's. (OPS of 756). I'm not saying he doesn't warrant a look, but I dont think over the course of a season he would put up numbers that much better than Craig Counsell. And Counsell's defense puts Billy to shame.
  21. <<< ***grow up!!! He didnt make it about personal character he was just putting out that comparing counsell and hall defensively really isnt even close. Hall led the universe in errors while in the minors (he approached 50 one year).
  22. bjkrautk POST OF THE DAY!! I agree with everything you said and wish I could have portrayed it the way you did. Very very well done.
  23. The guy has walked 11 times in his entire career (yes it's only tiny pieces of 3 years), but Counsell can draw 11 walks in a week. Last year in 142 AB's he had a .298 OBP. This year in 48 AB's it's down to .286. Now the guy might be an All-Star shortstop someday, but right now I'd rather have Counsell (and his career .350 OBP) working the count, taking pitches, giving Jenkins and Overbay more looks at the pitcher, and getting on base in front of them, than Hall hackin at the first pitch trying to go yard. Again I dont know really understand how any blame right now can be put on the offense. They are 4th in the league in runs scored. They scored enough runs to win the game today. Burba's fluke balk really is what cost them the game.
  24. I'm not a big Bill Hall fan. I think Counsell is better defensively and obviously more patient at the plate. Until Hall learns to be more selective--I'm all for playing Counsell (OBP .330) over Hall (OBP .294).
