  1. What's with Reed Johnson's body language? Is he disgusted that we're supposedly pitching around him or something? What an ego on that guy!
  2. I agree - it can be hard to watch when they're losing, but I do find it laughable that they all suck one inning and are HOFers the next. Now Yost on the other hand..... just kidding!
  3. Oh, we just got jobbed at 3B again!
  4. It wasn't even close at 3rd base! And you gotta love how Yost ran out there and made an argument for his player, huh?
  5. I highfived my wife's hand so hard I think she'll have a bruise. I might have one too! HAHA! I had chills when Braun hit that one. I just woke up the neighbors with that one (and there are only three other houses in this new subdivision)!!
  6. Ok, I'll stand up for season ticket holders a bit here. I split four seats with my brother (I believe he's using his tonight). I have to be out of town on business tomorrow night and he can't use them. I put them up for sale on Ebay. I have no idea if a Cubs fan or Brewers fan won the bidding, but I do know I got 10 times what I paid for them. If other Brewers fans want them, step up to the plate with their wallets! Not my fault if they were outbid.
  7. This sucks. Ted Lilly vs CC - I'd take that match-up any time and we may lose this friggin game. And then worse, we have to listen to the damn east coast media and any friends who are Cubs fans (and I use the word "friends" lightly when they're Cubs fans....)
  8. Wish they would just announce it.... Durham must still have "the flu" as he's not in the lineup, huh?
  9. There are some really whacked out expectations flying around this forum. All in all, I think posters on BF.net are pretty realistic. There are some sentiments for and against the deal as we currently understand it. But at least no one is suggesting crazy ideas like you may see on a Cubs board! Cubs fans would just expect the Giants to give them Durham ...because the Cubs deserve it after years of suffering.... LOL
  10. I'm thinking that we are going to hear a lot of cliches from Melvin when he tries to justify this move.. But we love baseball cliches! I agree that we may hear some to justify this one. But I still think it's an ok move.
  11. As an off the topic bonus, if Weeks posts a 1.000 OPS in AAA, he may have more trade value in the offseason should Melvin & Co. decide to go with a Hardy / Escobar middle infield next year. I like the way you think.... Best case, you send him down and he rediscovers his .380-.390 OBP. Alternative case, he at least brings his trade value back up. I like it. And I don't think it's too off-topic as acquiring Durham gives us this flexibility/option.
  12. So, assuming this happens, does everyone agree that there is 0% chance we could sign him for another year or two? ...or that we'd even care to sign him at the price he'd come in at? The Raykie platoon may just work out, but probably too expensive to reprise next year?
  13. I think you're spot-on, Splitter. I would have liked to have Taschner in the deal as well, but adding Durham won't be a bad move. Just wish they could have announced this morning so we could see him leading off today! Guess he'll start before national TV audience tomorrow (if I saw that ESPN was telecasting correctly).
  14. Yeah, my biggest problem with a Ford/Hammond for just Durham deal might be that not acquiring Taschner probably keeps Mota on the roster for a while longer. Yep. It's too bad Mota can't find his way onto the DL and then head out for a "rehab" assignment just to see if he can figure out that flaw in his mechanics (again). I'm sure such a thing has never crossed DM's mind....
  15. I would have been in your camp until someone pointed out that Prince is leading the team with a .360 OBP. I guess we just hope he keeps playing over his head. AND, I wouldn't be against keeping Dillon up, letting Durham start for a couple of weeks (no pun intended) and send Rickie to AAA to work out his problems (just like last year). Edit: Pared back long nested quote.
  16. Interesting that TH hasn't updated his blog to at least indicate that Taschner is not in the deal. Maybe he still is.
  17. Strange that a local ABC affiliate in Michigan would have this first.... even though no details. http://abclocal.go.com/wjrt/story?section=news/sports/pro/baseball&sa=MLB&eid=3497321
  18. And actually, Hammond (27) and Ford (21) are at least thought of highly enough to make BA's top 30 list for the Brewers. Ford may still be a ways away (hard to project if he's really a MLB-caliber CF or not, even though they say defensively he could play CF for the Brewers today), but I am finding it harder to part with Hammond in this deal. I know he had a rough 2007, but it was his first full pro season and they attributed it to him working to hard (something that's correctable). Always hard to give up on lefty arms even if they wind up being bullpen arms. If Taschner was part of the deal, I'd have an easier time with it.
  19. I agree! Ford and Hammond aren't top prospects, but still seem like a lot to give up for a little bit of Durham....
  20. And where's our resident "insider" agent today?? Mr Agent39 should have some good news for us! Where are you???
  21. So is the latest rumor Hammond and Ford for Durham and Taschner? Kind of difficult to follow and I was away for a few hours (unlike me with a deal going down!!). Oh, please, please, please let Cain be involved somehow.....
