  1. Is it just me or does that top she is wearing look like/is a maternity top (above picture) ?
  2. Hey, he has his own bobblehead after all http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  3. Any one old enough, like me, to remember any of the last few year's !963-1965 (first year I recall listening) announcers? Earl Gillespie left after '63 (started their first year in Milwaukee in '53) upon hearing of the Braves' impending sale to Atlanta. He supposedly coined the baseball saying, "Holy Cow" before Harry Caray or Phil Rizzuto. Earl passed in 2003. Also, among other jobs in the industry, well known for his many years as the radio voice of University of Wisconsin football. Maybe you've heard of a son, John. Blaine "Blainer" Walsh (died 1985) was there from '54 through their last year of '65). Gillespie and Walsh became known for snagging foul balls that rolled up the backstop with a huge fishing net. They netted about 75 a season, got them autographed, and sent them to kids in the hospital. One day, Walsh caught more than a loose ball. A fan in the upper deck dropped a walleye into the net. "I'll never forget that," Gillespie said. "The crowd went wild." I remember one time in particular when they just broke up on the air and couldn't stop..me and my brother could not stop laughing either even though we did not know what they were laughing at until they collected themselves! And, now, Merle Harmon ('64-'65). He replaced Gillespie for the Braves' last two seasons in Milwaukee.
  4. Was the best some years back... ...but, has also overstayed his welcome the last several years.
  5. Does anybody have it saved on file that I can get my hands on? I googled it, I youtubed it, nothing...found the text but would like video or at least audio of it, any help would be great!
  6. Same for the home opener, as well http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  7. Yeah, it is pretty much like Sunday Ticket on D* you pay for all the teams but generally you will usually just want it for your favorite team. Sounds like we are all Brewer fans in the Wisconsin area so therefore it is blocked out, same as ST. Works for fans who's teams are out of their area. If they would change it so that people around here could watch the Crew, even for a somewhat heavier price, people would eat it up with a spoon I believe...
  8. I will be tuned into the glorious HD telecast tonight on ESPN? Always enjoy listening to Jon Miller....Braves-Phils @ 7pm CT http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Cannot wait.

  10. I received an email the other day which shows some scheduled free games for this weekend, including Crew-Dodgers on Saturday night. Just got home and while eating dinner am watching some of the first game ever at new Yankee Stadium vs the Scrubbies. Raining there, now. Great HD picture, too! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif 7-4 Yanks in the 5th
  11. It was. Happened to be watching some of the game at the time...Our announcers really tripped over themselves about it, I thought.
  12. Congrats, Craig! No sister or daughter here but you're hideaway (bathroom) will never be the same. Hopefully, you have two.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Talk to you in the chatroom, again, if you find the time!
  13. I could not get the game on Dish 444 (SD) then stumbled across it on WMLW. Saw the whole score box, didnt really like it...decided I will not watch or participate on chat if the game is not shown in HD.I am spoiled, yes.
  14. Any of us old enough to remember when you heard the official news that the Braves would be leaving town after '64 (turns out they were forced to stay one more lame-duck year - '65) the feeling you had in the pit of your stomach for four seasons of no baseball at Milwaukee County Stadium. So, thank you Mr. Selig
  15. ...and the baseball world is a far better place for it http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. These things do work themselves out, like Invader said and that means Escobar goes to Nashville this year and a year from now he will more than likely be the starting SS. My guess would be JJ will be moved for some pitching or othere organizational needs. He could bring some quality players in return.
  17. Being new to the board I am not aware if that subject was broached during the off season. There was a time when it may not have been certain that Bill Hall would be the regular third sacker this season and on other boards I frequent it was brought up about moving JJ to third. But, like I stated in my previous, it is probably best to keep Escobar in Nashville for another season and then we'll see what happens next off season
  18. Does anybody else see that by moving to 2b JJ knows he would be taking away a real close friend's job?Could very well be the reason he has not volunteered to do it. Agreed, Escobar could use another season in AAA to become better offensively, tho.
  19. Gotta give CBS credit for using the game screen properly. Case in point, they have the score and time towards the bottom of your screen and leave an area open below it for when they want they decide to throw out a crawler, but when they do the crawl it does not scrunch up the screen. Other networks would be wise to follow suit http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  20. Morning! Newbie here....Have they always played some rounds 3/4 in domes and/or football venues? IMO, watching the views we were seeing from University of Phoenix stadium was not what the NCAA prefers to project. I admit I did not look for the attendance figures there but am thinking they should have blocked off the back areas where they did not sell seats/fans were sitting. Place looked mostly empty. Maybe it is the economy.... What say you?
