    I dont believe attitude has anything to do with how little Gamel played. Macha has shown all season his discontent with young players. This situation goes far beyong Mat Gamel; this organization will always have young players as a major part of its core and having a manager that fears playing them is not a good thing. Melvin will probably force Macha to start Escobar next year but you can bet if Macha had it his way Counsell would start more than Alcides.

    No way Braun will get traded but if he was I would have to end my allegiance to this club. I was devastated enough when Molitor was allowed to leave as a free agent and couldnt handle Braun being dealt away.

    Its just incredible to me that the team let Parra pitch all season with shoulder issues. This organization has done a horrible job handling injuries. How long did it take them to find out that Bush had a slight tear in his arm.

    The biggest problem with Macha and its something thats major is that he doesnt like young players. As an organization that relies heavily on young talent a guy like Macha is just the wrong person to manage the team.

    I think this would be a trade that could help both teams. Maine would definitely be an upgrade over Looper at a lower price and Hart could play first base or left field for the Mets. Maine is not exactly great but could be a nice 4th or 5th starter. We could then move Gamel to right field to replace Hart.

    This just makes no sense whatsoever. How could this organization let Parra pitch meaningless September games when they knew he would need surgery. Way too handle your young players.

    I will root for anyone but the Yankees. Unfortunately the Yankees will probably win it all and I will have to skip work the day of the parade because my office is on Broadway. As much as I hate the cardinals I would even rather they win than the Yankees. I predict Rockies vs Dodgers and Yankees vs Angels. Yankees over the Rockies in 4.

    Getting to 80 wins considering the unbelievable seasons that Fielder and Braun produced is not exactly an accomplishment.

    Bobby valentine is out there begging to manage a team and we keep Macha. This is an incredibly stupid decision. How does a small market team keep a manager who hates playing the young guys.

    Melvin is making a huge mistake and now deserves to be fired along with Macha. Obviously this organization is at the point where they are just spinning their wheels. This dope has done nothing to warrant coming back next season. I also expect that this means that Looper is coming back and Gamel will be traded. I would also expect that gritty battling awesome catcher Kendall to be our starter again next season. Solid job guys!

    Hopefully Dave Duncan is the Brewers next pitching coach and Pole replaces Duncan in St Louis. That is a serious win/win situation.

    The moves that this organization has made in September have been embarrassing. I have lost all confidence in Melvin and Macha well I think I have made my feelings known on him.

    That statistic would be hilarious if Suppan didnt pitch for the Brewers but it really does illustrate how bad he is.

    Fantastic article and I too would be more than happy to see a lockout if a salary cap was the end result. It would be great if fans of every team had the feeling that their team can be competeive year in and year out if they make smart baseball decisions.

    Blaming this poor season on injuries to Suppan and Bush is ridiculous. Suppan is well below average and Bush is average at best so losing guys like this should not be the difference between winning and losing. Overall our injuries were far from bad and other than Weeks we never lost a "good" player to significant injury all year.

    Monty, you have Macha pegged to a T and that is why bringing him back next year will be a huge mistake. His communication skills are beyond horrible and its clear that most of the players cant stand him yet Melvin will bring him back.

    The odds of Macha using twitter are about as high as Kendall winning a HR title.

    I know most people dont think the pitching coach makes much of a difference but I think losing Maddux was a huge blow to this organization. He has helped transfer a terrible Texas staff into a decent one while our pitching has been awful. I think Maddux is the second best pitching coach in baseball after Duncan and that we really felt his loss big time. I realize that Suppan and Looper are terrible but Maddux could have probably gotten more out of Parra at least.

    I dont want McClung on the team next year either but I see no reason why we need to run Coffey into the ground in these games while McClung doesnt pitch.

    There really is no logical reason why Macha wont use him in these meaningless games.

    Looks like most were way too optimistic although Doug Jones, Klements Bratwurst, and JJ Hardy 7 were right in line.

    Suppan, Bush, and Looper. Two of the three have to go. I would keep Bush and let the other scrubs go. Melvin would have to be nuts to pick up the option on Looper and if he does we are doomed next season. This Suppan contract is exactly why you dont sign average to below average free agent pitchers.

    Ike Davis is not even close to a centerpoiece player to acquire Fielder. Murphy plays an awful first base and has no power. As trwi said just because the Twins gave Santana away for garbage doesnt mean we are trading Fielder for scraps. Sorry but the Mets do not have the prospects necessary to get Fielder.

    Murphy is terrible. I guarantee he wont be the centerpiece of any Fielder deal.
