    5 yr/ 125 mil extension with Phillies. Probably a reasonable comp for Prince though I dont think we should pay it.

    Is it really smart for a small market team to spend so much money on middle relievers like Riske and Hawkins. One of Melvin's biggest issues is that he spends way too much money on the bullpen. Sure Riske might have pitched ok if he was healthy but we still shouldnt be spending good money on middle relievers. Add that to paying Hoffman 8 mil per season and the absolute waste of 10 million on Gagne and you can see a pattern on overpaying for relievers.

    We have at least 7 or 8 better starting options than Suppan. Besides Parra and Narveson I would rather see Estrada or Lofgren start before Suppan.

    I love the quotes from Suppan from the js blog. When Suppan was asked if he was disappointed in his results he responded with "Theres many different ways you can look at results" I feel like I made a lot of good pitches in my two games. And my bad pitches , they cost me runs. I feel like from where I started at, I made a lot of improvements." Not only is Suppan an awful pitcher he is also completely delusional. Please just DFA the scrub and get Stetter back on the roster.

    Bobby Valentine is the perfect candidate to replace Macha. He is a fiery leader who is great with young players and knows how to make in game decisions as well as anyone in the game.

    I think the time has come to make a final decision on Prince. I dont think there is any chance to sign him so we should just make our last ditch effort and if Prince says no its time to trade him. This team is just not good enough to make the playoffs and the longer we hold on to Prince the less we will receive in return for him. With close to 2 years remaining we can still get a nice return for Prince. We should target a desperate team like Texas and see if we can get Smoak and/or Martin Perez as part of a deal for Prince. Nolan Ryan has stated that he thinks his team should win 90 games and maybe with their slow start they would make a move for Prince. I just dont see us being contenders and I would hate to recieve 2 draft picks for a player of Prince's caliber. Its one thing to receive picks for a guy like Linebrink but we need to aim much higher for a player like Prince. I also want to see Melvin trade for high upside guys like Smoak vs 3 or 4 low ceiling major league ready players.

    Please someone tell me what Macha is good for. He is lifeless, the players hate him and he is strategically inept. He literally brings nothing positive to the table.

    Im tired of losing to the Cubs. They came in here reeling and we make them look like a great team which they are not. Why does this team just seem completely lifeless when we fall behind early. Time for the fiery Bobby Valentine to replace the comatose Macha.

    I wish Macha was fired after last season. As far as Im concerned he brings nothing positive to the table. He doesnt know how to handle a bullpen, he has no personality whatsoever and the biggest issue is that he hates playing the young guys. Gamel was never given a shot last year and he has buried Parra as our last man in the bullpen this year. I definitely see Counsell taking away playing time from Escobar which is criminal. Any manager that thinks that Edmonds is a realistic option for CF is also oput of his mind. Bottom line in my opinion is that the players dont like playing for him and he is strategically inept. As a small market team we should never have a manager that hates the young guys and that is exactly what we have. I will continue to bring up the name Bobby Valentine for this position because he is everything that we need as a manager. He is a proven winner that is an excellent in game manager and he has that fiery personality that young players respond to. He is just the guy we need to get the most out of our talent but I dont trust Melvin to do the right thing. The fact that he interviewed Randolph, Brenly and Macha in his last search tells me all I need to know about Doug Melvins ability to find the right guy. As much as I cant stand Macha I dont see Randolph or Sveum as the answer for us in any way. Randolph is strategically inept and Sveum will have us playing small ball all nine innings. If the choice is Macha or those two I would stick with Macha but Bobby Valentine is the man who would make the perfect choice as manager.
