  1. The Brewers AAA bullpen is better than than the major league bullpen. Maybe when we get a new GM we will stop wasting millions of dollars on old relievers.
  2. Why would we even consider bringing up Cain when Macha will have him stapled to the bench like he did to Gamel last year. No reason to waste service time on our prospects to ride the pine.
  3. Why would anyone want to move Weeks from the leadoff spot. Rickie has the perfect skill set as a lead off hitter. He takes lots of pitches, works the count and has a high OBP as well as great speed. Rickie Weeks needs to remain in the leadoff spot for this team for years to come.
  4. We are already seven games behing a far superior Cardinals team. I guess we could get into the wild card race but I would just rather start the rebuild since I dont see this team as currently constituted winning anything big. Since Prince is as good as gone unless we vastly overpay him I dont see why we shouldnt be looking to trade him now instead of keeping him in our chase to be mediocre.
  5. You really think Attanasio was behind all those moves?Generally speaking, yes. I think Mark A sets a certain tone and direction for this team, and while he wants to win he doesn't seem willing to build for a few years to do so. It seems as though he operates under a fear that certain moves will cause the fans to say "same old Brewers" like they did back when the Brewers would trade a Sexson for prospects. If the Brewers had traded Hall & Hardy when their values were high it would have affected attendance. When Turnbow faltered, I bet Mark A said "get us a closer"That sums up the direction of this organization.
  6. The Padres are sure doing a lot of complaining for a team on the verge of winning three out of four against us.
  7. That is a major concern of mine; that we will ignore what is best for the future of the franchise in order to try to hang around .500 so the fans will keep coming. I sincerely believe that is exactly what happened in '06, '07, '09 and this year so far, too ... how else do you explain some of these crazy trades and signings that have gone down? I completely agree with you that this organization is more concerned with public perception than what is best for the long term future of the team. We might have to completely bottom out to convince ownership that we are just not contenders. The cardinals are burying us already and I just dont see this team making the wild card either. We are in no mans land right now; hoping to contend when we are really just not good enough.
  8. Nope because Mark A is scared it will effect attendance. That is a major concern of mine; that we will ignore what is best for the future of the franchise in order to try to hang around .500 so the fans will keep coming.
  9. Can we just trade Fielder and start the rebuild while he still has some value.
  10. Wolf is doing his best Suppan impression. Another 10 million dollar per year Melvin mistake. Milwaukee should be known as the soft tossing capital of the world.
  11. If it were up to Macha, Escobar would never play. This manager just doesnt know how to handle young players and its the biggest reason why he shouldnt be managing this team.
  12. Tell me how this team is anything but mediocre at best.
  13. Bottom line is Melvin has rarely ever had high upside young pitching on his teams. In his days in Texas and with the Brewers he has relied way too heavily on soft tossing average at best veterans like Davis, Suppan, and Burkett. Teams dont win championships on the arms of Doug Davis and Suppan. I dont blame Doug for Jorge De La Rosa developing years after we dealt him away but most of Melvin's pitching acquistions have been soft tossers without big upsides. Capuano and Jackson were both soft tossers and neither had ace potential and that is what we have been missing. I read somewhere recently that the Brewers current rotation has the lowest average velocity of any rotation in baseball and the results clearly bare that out. Doug has clearly relied heavily on pitchability vs velocity and it has cost this team dearly. Instead of signing veterans like Davis and Wolf we should be targeting guys like Morrow who may possibly flame out but have top of the rotation stuff that has the chance to be harnessed. Melvin instead has taken the easy way out acquiring veterans who are average and as a result we are basically a .500 team.
  14. The reason he was had for such a good price is that many/most don't think he can be a starter, due to his diabetes & BB problemsMaybe he wont make it as a starter but he is exactly the type of high upside starter that this team should have taken a chance on instead of signing the low ceiling Doug Davis. Its not like Toronto gave up much for a guy who throws in the high 90s and is still very young. I would not fault Melvin if we acquired Morrow and he didnt pan out because at least the potential for greatness is there which you cannot say about anyone in our rotation besides Gallardo.
  15. How about a guy like Brandon Morrow as an example of the type of young arm that Melvin could have had but didnt make happen. He was traded from Seattle to Toronto for a reliever (Brandon League) and an OF prospect. I dont see how Hardy or Hart wouldnt have been a more attractive package for Jack Z especially when he drafted our guys and his team is terrible offensively. Morrow is young and throws in the high 90s, exactly the type of power arm this team hasnt had in years. Morrow has control issues so he may or may not make it but I sure would rather see a guy like that with huge upside starting for the Brewers over the likes of Doug Davis and Jeff Suppan. Melvin has a very long track record of building his staffs around soft tossers with little to no upside. His ace in Texas was John Burkett and his Rangers teams were very much like the Crew; good offenses and wretched pitching. I just dont see anything in Melvin's long history to suggest that he will acquire young power arms which are necessary to win championships. Brandon Morrow is just the latest example of a guy we could have acquired with high upside without giving up much. Kudos to the Toronto GM for making the type of trade Doug Melvin has never gotten done.
  16. Do you really want Sveum when he believes in bunting in the first inning. Dale showed exactly what kind of manager he is when he took over from Ned and it was unimpressive to save the least. He is the ultimate believer in small ball and we dont need a manager looking to give away outs to try to squeeze out a run when we should be trying to score a lot more than that.
  17. This is my biggest issue as far as replacing Macha. I want absolutely no part of the strategically inept Randolph or small ball Sveum and I dont trust Melvin to hire the right guy since he has failed so miserably time after time both in Milwaukee and Texas. If Melvin had some sense he would be on the phone with Bobby V but I know thats just a pipe dream.
  18. Why does this organization feel its necessary to give veteran players an endless amount of rope.
  19. Melvin has spent more than 15 million on this garbage bullpen. He should be fired for thaat alone.
