Saying Davis was decent is like saying Suppan was good in his first start. When a guy cant even get through 5 innings he certainly did not pitch decently. When will the excuses end for this pitching staff? I realize we have only played 12 games but we have given up at least 5 runs in every game but one. After last season I find it hard to give the benefit of the doubt to this pitching staff.
-
I dont believe we should DFA Davis at this point but I also think its ridiculous to say that he pitched well today. This rotation has been absolutely awful so far and while I think it wont stay this bad i do not think it will be even close to average. I hated the signing of Davis at the time and I hate it even more now.

We have the worst pitching staff in baseball. How can a 10-0 lead not be considered a sure win.
-
This is embarrassing.

Why Do Some Want to Fire Melvin?

Peavy, are you telling me that this staff is good? Other than Gallardo and Parra who on this staff has any upside whatsoever? Wolf is definitely competent but on the downside of his career but Davis and especially Suppan are awful. This is not me panicking. I hated this staff before the season started and I have seen nothing encouraging so far. -
Its actually very easy and his name is Bobby Valentine.

Good thing we have a balanced bench with both lefties and righties on it to pinch hit.

Why Do Some Want to Fire Melvin?
bklynbrewcrew replied to zzzmanwitz's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
He should get fired for having the worst pitching staff in the league 2 years in a row. This is basically a slow pitch softball team with two sluggers and garbage pitching. Time to find a GM that understands the value of pitching and isnt in love with every soft tossing scrub out there. -
This pitching staff is as bad as last years team. We have had one game so far where we have given up less than 5 runs. If we dont score at least 8 we cant win.
-
Lets have hawkins throw another 40 pitchers tonight.
-
Bye bye game.
-
Hawkins is too gritty to yank.
-
We need to stop wasting money on relievers like this when Axford can do a better job for the minimum.
-
Macha is treating Parra like he did Gamel. This man is not fit to manage a major league team.
-
Might as well send him down since Macha doesnt see the need to have him face the likes of Fukodome in a tight game.

Melvin should be fired for his hiring of two incompetent managers alone. -
Time to fire Macha and hire Bobby Valentine who is a real manager. When Macha gets canned I want no part of Randolph or Sveum. Why even have a loogy like Stetter if we are not gonna use him when we need him most. Macha is a flat out clown and has no positive attributes at all. At least Yost was fiery; Macha has the personality of stale toast.

Our lineup just isnt deep anymore with Gomez replacing Cameron and Escobar replacing JJ.
-
If it were Braun I would pay the money but Prince's conditioning prevents a deal of this size. We cant afford to give a deal like this and have Prince fade away in a few years like Mo Vaughn.
-
The Brewers really need to get this resolved by the all star break or so. Either get him signed or trade him. I would hate to see us wind up with 2 draft picks for a player of Prince's caliber. I fear Melvin and Attanassio wanting "major league" ready players for Prince if he is traded to save face with the casual fans. I think we took Mench back as part of the trade for Lee because the owner or GM didnt want prospects. The worst thing would be to trade Prince and not get high upside players in return. Then again in this marketplace I think we are gonna get hosed in any deal we do involving Prince.

Davis followed by Vargas means 6 hr game.
-
I really hope our young arms on the farm develop quickly so we end the cycle of wasting money on the Suppans, Davis', and Loopers of the world.
-
Watching Davis pitch is exhausting.
-
Can Zaun really be this bad.

Happily i continue to be wrong about Corey.
