  1. TH has is half right. Hoffman needs to step up and asked to be removed, but he needs to go to Melvin and tell him he is removing himself from baseball.
  2. “I’m not getting things done,” said Hoffman, who remained four saves shy of 600 for his career after his 999th appearance. “I’m not getting outs. There’s not a whole lot to analyze about it. If there was an answer at this point in time, I think we would have found it.” That last part is what I have been saying, even Hoffman knows it. There is no analysis or answer to it, the guy is out of gas. When management finally realizes what 99% of MLB scouts already know, they can cut their losses and move on. Until then, this is what the fans get. A big kick in the groin over and over and over and... The whole "there are no better options" excuse is a complete cop out. Estrada was very likely to close this game out for the W, but of course it was a save situation and the most annoying aspect of baseball protocol took hold. The problem with this now is, its not just about location. Its about not getting outs and giving up a boatload of runs no matter where the pitches are located. Out. Of. Gas. Or as Homer so eloquently stated on his show today, EOC.
  3. That's not true. He bought the team for about $223 mil and now according to Forbes it is worth $351 mil.He might want to consider cashing this in. Its likely topped out.
  4. I can name at least five guys I would DFA before Gerut. Gerut is my 5th, but its real close to a tie at #4. That said, I wouldn't object to a mass DFAing which included Jody Gerut. I am curious if another team is desperate enough to take on the likes of Doug Davis, Jeff Suppan, Trevor Hoffman, Claudio Vargas, or Jody Gerut. This year $ucks in more ways than I can count!!!!
  5. It takes 500 IP for ERA to stabilize into a meaningful value Yeah, I think I read it was more like 1,200 innings. WHIP can be useful in showing how many walks and hits a pitcher is giving up per inning. For Doug Davis that number is 2.
  6. I was thinking the next two should be gimmes for the Brewers There is no longer any such thing for this team against any opponent, including the Astros. If you judge Davis by more reasonable means he has been about the same this year as he always has been, he's just given up more runs than normal. You would also realize how poorly Dave Bush has pitched regardless of the results of his ERA. I wonder if I am alone here in thinking this doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
  7. Last season, Hoffman pitched like the great reliever he always has been. Which is why Melvin should have counted his blessings for last year and moved on. Nobody could have predicted this. I absolutely did predict this. But its like predicting the kid who's jumping over the fire will eventually get burned, so I can't take full credit.
  8. The Brewers are such suckers that they didn't trade this guy before the deadline last year-- why they held onto him is STUPID!!! They were going nowhere last year and some other sucker would have took this Hasbeen off their hands This is what happens when marketing plays too big of a role in the composition of a team. Time to cut bait.
  9. Every game is a waste of my time. Exactly. Why waste time watching a good game when there is a coin flips chance the "closer" is going to throw the game away at the end. Its a giant waste of time.
  10. He didn't even get one out. He must have not been locating. I can't wait to watch the latest installment of, "Why am I still pitching?" on my DVR tonight. Pathetic.
  11. LOL, everyone relax! Trevor will be fine once he settles down.
  12. Well well well, nice to see the opposing pitcher have to toss 20+ pitches in the first inning.
  13. Parra's filling it today, but his track record is spotty at best. "Estrada, 26, was claimed off waivers from Washington over the off-season. He has appeared in 15 major-league games (one start), going 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA." I shouldn't have to explain why my enthusiasm is curbed. In addition, the bullpen is overworked not only from shorter outings by the starters, but also by the fact that the bullpen pitchers themselves are not getting outs and are having to throw a ton of pitches to get through only one inning.
  14. I got a quick fix for that, stop watching ESPN.
  15. Davis' success in MLB can be attributed to luck. He is just pitching to his ability this year, and is not getting lucky anymore.
  16. Not sure why people are down on this. Because the Brewers don't need another starting pitcher on the 25-man right now. They need a reliever who can get outs.
  17. Good guess then to the Estrada callers. Guess I can drop my excitement level back down to the "who cares" level.
  18. I think its Braddock and this is why. Macha said the pitcher coming up, if he pitches well, could find a nice spot in the bullpen for a long time. Could be Chris Smith as well. I don't think its Estrada. He did mention the bullpen IIRC.
  19. Great emotion from Gallardo, some of the strongest I've seen from this team so far this year. Good to see there is some there. As for blue, he's not calling a fair game. Cueto has gotten calls Yo hasn't.
  20. I'm sure this won't be received well, but I wouldn't be opposed to taking a page out of nsbb's book and go with something like Sewers @ Reds for the thread title.
  21. Best option in my opinion. And there IS a such thing as too much Star Wars.
  22. I don't know if the group we have is the answer, but going all Steinbrenner-esque and whipping around managers and coaches seems like a giant distraction. I could handle a distraction right now.
  23. I think anyone hoping to see Macha fired this season is going to be disappointed. He's just really not the problem. He's not the solution either. What does he do well? A good question posed to listeners on WSSP this morning. What does Macha do well? He's inherently unlucky, he appears to have an ultra low energy level, he makes excuses, his players are becoming cynical and apathetic (like me). What exactly is Ken Macha doing well that would speak to him deserving to keep this job?
