  1. Can't the Brewers just put a gag order on Hall and his agent? Seriously, what good had Terry Boss done for his client or the ballclub? None. If I were the Brews I would go to the press and say now there is no way in hell we are trading TERRY BOSS' client. Time for the teams to take the power back from the agents. Does Mr Boss believe that Bill Hall is going to get a bigger and better contract in 2010 than what he will be receiving the next two years? Bill worked his butt off for a year and a half to scrape out the millions of $$, but his payday came and went. His performance has decreased alarmingly the past two years (and he shouldn't blame it on the position switching, because his best offensive production occurred when he was a super utility guy). Maybe the pending Lasik will help Bill "Wiping My Eye in the Batters Box" Hall. It seems to have helped Kendall find some semblance of consistency. I say he gets it done during the All Star break.
  2. I rescinded a bit, but he could have staved off some boos had he went to the mound first before making the move. Something you think he would learn after 6 years. My point remains the same, Yost is ultra unlikable.
  3. I agree. But I can't remember Yost ever letting the pitcher try to convince him from the mound. It was pretty clear he was booed because he took Sheets out. It was the right move IMO. But I also think Yost will start hearing boos no matter what he does. Its a sign. I never seem to get in the park early enough to hear him introduced, is he getting any boos at intros? Edit: thanks MD
  4. I dont think Ned was booed for taking out Ben tonight. I believe he was booed for showing his face. I can't recall a more unlikeable manager (from fan perspective) in Brewer history.
  5. Sadly, I don't think Davey was kidding.
  6. Nail. Hammer. Head. I get the feeling that this is enough of an effort for enough people, hence the job security he enjoys. If I was Melvin, all I would need to do is listen to ONE of his pre-games on 620 to know that he needs to be replaced. Just plain awful to listen to. In contrast, the Cooper interview on FSN yesterday showed how much more polished and understanding of baseball in general he is over Yost. Everyday I am sad that Ned is the Brewers manager, win or lose.
  7. This is unhealthy. Besides, a strikeout is not neccessarily a true outcome. The catcher needs to hold on to strike 3 or throw to 1B for the out. Strikeout should be replaced with ground rule double to have a true, 3TO. But I understand that would mess with all the number worshiping going on here.
  8. I have no insight to offer, but great post. Looks like there could be a legitamite case.
  9. I'd much rather this be allowed in our society than not regardless of how distasteful I find it, but that doesn't mean that I don't think it's really offensive. So it's alright then, right? Because if society deems it so then it shall be. Sort of like alcohol vs. mary jane. Nobody's questioning the legality of the situation. Nobody doubts that they have the right to make offensive shirts. Ahh to digress, the legality is the discussion the thread title seemed to invoke. It just spun out of control when many started to judge the creator, the buyers, and Cubs fans in general. He who cast the last stone, or whatever [insert cliche here]. From the thread title and the legality angle, its all about billable hours. And the press just made the creator and subsequent rip-off artists richer than before. Nobody doubts that Neo-Nazi's have the right to congregate and spread their vile hate. They lose that right when they inflict hate onto others in the form of physical abuse. Huge difference. However, some people can be hurt much greater with words and pictures than with fists and feet. That is why there is so much money to be made in anger management.
  10. I always heard good things about Cubanita's I was heading there for lunch today as well until I decided to work through lunch. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif Man i'm hungry...
  11. How does this t-shirt insinuate "asians" are somehow less, mentally or physically, than anyone else? It's poking fun at dialect and Harry Caray. I understand comedy and context, which is why the shirt is only marketable to Cubs fans and maybe only Cubs fans at or around Wrigley. Out of context would be like wearing a "I Hate Boston Fans" shirt to a Bulls/Bucks game. Are you saying that because some people find it funny, then it's alright? While I personally would not by one, I have no problem with it. It's a free country. No worse than the "Big Johnson" t-shirts of the 90's IMO. The only thing that may be wrong with the shirt is the unlicensed use of the Cub logo. But even that was altered, so I don't think litigation has a leg to stand on. But someone needs to sue someone, that is the true American way. By the way, sorry, I just had a REAL big glass of water...you know, the "estrogen" water. Me too, a liter of water http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  12. Even more interesting is how many people of the race that is the butt of the joke find it funny. For example, I found Chris Rock in Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back to be very funny. Guess I gave away my race.
  13. I'm thinking the number of IBB issued has a lot to do with situations and circumstances. Yost may just not have had the opportunities to IBB walk as many batters as other managers.
  14. This whole dilemma has nothing to do with the Cub's litigation team churning up some billable hours. And if racism was never funny, Chris Rock, Carlos Mencia, George Lopez, etc. would not have made millions in show business. Do we know for sure this t-shirt wasn't conceived by an Asian? Would that make it OK if it was?
  15. Exactly. And I didn't say anything about how real men procure racial stereotypes. My point was that society is more sensitive to political correctness.
  16. Need to win the next two... then all will be good until they get crushed in the finale. Of course I will be there for that debacle.
  17. Nah, he has hit plenty of balls to the warning track or just short of. The only thing that is for sure with regard to Prince, his arby number is plummeting faster than a discarded shuttle booster.
  18. Would have been funny back in the 70's or 80's, remember Dick Tracy and Jo Jitsu? However in today's day and age everyone is so sensitive, its like they put estrogen in our drinking water. The person wearing the shirt may or may not be a jerk, but he/she is most likely insensitive.
  19. I'm surprised you keep tivo'ing this team. The games are painful to watch on any given day. Even the wins are tough to stomach. Maybe that is because of all the Ned cringe-grinning shots FSN gives me, but its most likely the BA "flare to the outfield" call. Nah... its the team's performance. Downright lackadaisical.
  20. You mean nothing magical except the chance to strikeout 5 times vs. 4? Edit: Granted with today's offensive outburst, everyone received their 4 chances to strikeout.
  21. Ned is waiving the white flag, so I am checking out. Another disappointing end to a promising roll.
  22. This would require a manager with foresight. However, McClung threw very well today, he was battling out there all day and threw extremely well. He just got unlucky vs. Mark there, that's all there is to it. Nice job from the 1 & 2 hitters today. Way to spark the offense boys. 11 Ks for the team today is also very nice. If I was a Brewer opponent, I would just bring up 3 minor league pitchers (ones that have not faced the Brewers) for the series. Guaranteed sweep as the Brewers are powerless against pitchers they have never seen.
