  1. Misery loves company... come on down Pittsburgh!
  2. I think they just told Gagne he has an injury... DL stint coming. The Brewers closer situation is a train wreck. Let me give a shout out to Bill Hall for letting this game continue. Kudos.
  3. Lead-off walk... must be the pants.
  4. TH left himself wide open by not following the basic rules of credible journalism. For Yost to let him have it I think was justified. Granted, Yost talks down to the press which can be bothersome because it makes him seem like he's talking down to the fans. I think that turns people off, but in this case his rant is completely justified. I'm thinking this situation has been the product of a cause and effect relationship for a couple years now. Ned treats the media like garbage and assumes their ignorance. In turn the media cowers to Yost most of the time, but in the back of their minds despise him. TH was just hoping the blogger knew something he didn't, and since the news was something he wanted to hear he ran with it. When it turned out to not be accurate for whatever reason, Ned had his chance to rip TH and did just that. Classy Ned, timid/weak media, Milwaukee... ahhh.
  5. I'm sure the real Bill Hall will stand up tomorrow.
  6. Yeah, the last time the Cubs lost the Brewers lost a half game on them.
  7. I have to say I am glad my bitterness was wrong so far. It was the milk typing.
  8. Step one, lead-off double. Step two, three, four and five will occur before a move is made. By then its too late. Then Prince will jack his solo shot in the 8th once they are down by 5.
  9. I think they both are terrible and painful to listen to. Which is why I am glad I don't have to listen to them until Ned Yost gets fired, since I am not watching another telecast until it happens (and it will happen because I read it in a blog somewhere). I get more done listening to Bob and Jim anyway.
  10. They just have grittier, battlier players than we do.
  11. This place is almost getting too serious for me. I feel like i should start disclaiming and cya'ing everything i post. Its bad enough to have it be part of a career, now the me time? Such is life in today's world i guess. I would not give TH high journalistic marks. He works for the JS after all. From the interviews i've heard, his questions during the post game are routinely below average for a beat writer. Aston Martin, now I get it. My mortgage hasn't shown up either. Maybe 3 losses in PIT will do the trick. I'll try back on Thursday.
  12. Why doesn't everyone here who wants him gone take up a collection? By my reckoning, the money should be raised by Friday... Seems about right, since all but roughly 4 people here would like to see him gone. However... as bad as this team needs to flush the manager, I sure in heck am not willing to pay for it. I use all my extra brewer spending cash on parking and sausage.
  13. Another dark day in Brewer Nation. When will the insanity stop? Please Doug (or Mark if need be), drop the hammer!
  14. Kind of like how there aren't any other viable leadoff candidates [*ahem* corey *cough* hart]. IMO, the Brewers are at a point with Yost where a cadaver would be an upgrade. FIND SOMEONE!!
  15. That horse doesn't appear to be dead yet. adambr2, great example. Ron Gardenhire is an MLB caliber manager. Coincidence?
  16. Ah the good old days of 13K in the stands on a Friday night game. I can't wait for all the extra breathing room again, not to mention the smaller lines at concessions and bathrooms. And parking galore... can't wait until 2009!!!
  17. A profanity laced tirade from Ned Yost? Now that you mention it, I do recall that type of passion from the dugout last year when Ned was getting purple at LaRussa. I have no doubt Ned Yost can lead a team, but I do doubt he can lead a consistent winning team. The sooner the ties are severed the better for both parties. Ned is cashed and has nothing left in the tank. The players like him (so I've heard - not from any players though), but that doesn't mean squat in the win column (obviously). Time to go, its inevitable anyway. Get the show on the road!
  18. Any insight as to what was actually being said? Or was it just yelling? Screaming and yelling isn't good enough for me, I would need to know what was being screamed and yelled.
  19. "[referring to Furcal] He does a lot, but for us to sit here and say that's the reason we're not winning, that's certainly not the case," said Torre. "Don't get me wrong. He's missed. The young kid that's playing [Chin-lung Hu] is doing the best he can. We still need to pitch better." -Joe Torre after the 5-3 loss in the opening game of the Brewers v. Dodgers series. Can you imagine Ned Yost mentioning how the Brewers need to pitch better after losing 5-3? Just read some of Torre's comments, they are in a completely different class than what comes out of Ned's mouth. What happened after these comments? Wins. Coincidence? Anyone can argue it is, and anyone can argue it isn't. The bottom line is the comments made by managers, or people for that matter, often reflect their thought process. A little bit of realism mixed in with a touch of positive spin topped off with some "we still need to pitch better." Joe Torre is an actual MLB manager and would have looked awesome in a Brewers uniform.
  20. The interview style is just an extension of his personality. It's a constant reminder of how this guy isn't the right guy for the job. His responses to 'tough' questions can be looked at as how he deals with 'tough' situations in his job. So true. It is very parallel and easy for most to see.
  21. My question that you refuse or are incapable of answering was as to a specific point of what some think Yost should say...that saying something to the effect of "4 errors is unacceptable" to the media would be preferrable. Preferrable why? Because it is indeed unacceptable. It would be beneficial for Ned's sake to show some sign he feels this way. The comment Ned made leads me to believe that he doesn't see yesterday's performance as unacceptable. In fact, he just believes that it happens to other teams so what's the big deal. Don't worry about how I feel, I only buy tickets, parking, watch the telecasts, and shop for apparel and memorabilia. I think we need to worry about how the players feel. How protected are they? Do they feel like fetuses in the womb? Is daddy keeping the nasty heat away from them? Something like... "No way, my players couldn't possibly be playing as bad as you tell me they are. They are good players." How is this type of nurturing managing healthy to the growth of these professionals? Any way you slice it, its not.
  22. "Four errors is completely unacceptable. We have been stressing better defense since last season ended and a major league team should never commit four errors in a game". What are you up to the next 4 months? Care to manage a baseball team?
