  1. I understand Hipster, but do you think Prince would be more likely to walk 4 times in a game or strike out 3 times in a game? How about I meet you halfway and say 2Ks and 2BBs. I can do that.
  2. Prince would never let Prince walk 4 times. That would go down as 3K, 1BB.
  3. Could you please help me understand the word y'all so that I may better understand the post and respond accordingly? I think "y'all" is a contraction of the words "you" and "all," but I am not 100% sure. That pic had me rolling for a good 3 minutes. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif I get annoyed watching behind home at Miller Park and seeing overweight guys or gals in tee shirts waiving to their friends at home. This seemed a tad elitist. I can see the angle, but did you have to document it so blatantly? What's wrong with wearing tee shirts in the diamond boxes? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. So if the Brewers are only going to win 85 games, the Cubs are going to win 103, and the Cardinals 97... why should I care anymore? I for one am not someone who likes to project wins. The game is too unpredictable for me to do so, and in my opinion a fruitless cause. It might be fun to do the math, but its a strawman's arguement for topics like this. The 83 wins last year is what it is, however I thought they could have won at least 88. After all, this time last year they were supposed to win 87.
  5. To say the Brewers have the talent of an 85 win team is purely subjective. I do like how Yost said Parra is a battler right after he shredded him for the hanging breaking pitch to Tejada.
  6. How often has missed run-scoring opportunities come back to bite the Brewers this year? Now we are probably going to see our 7th inning and 8th inning guys.
  7. I am pretty sure Ned knew they weren't going to score anymore runs, so that's why he stuck Tavarez out there in the 7th. The pre-game and post-game comments from Yost have become comical. At least that is what I am making myself believe in order to cope.
  8. Villanueva, without a doubt. He's been rock solid, and since the pitcher's spot had just cleared, he could give multiple innings. Tavarez should be the last arm out of the bullpen. Why spend one pitcher when you can spend 2 or 3? You get more for your money that way.
  9. Wow, Ned really knows how to let these close games get away late. HtR, you are so right about the vent thread, worst available option at PH, and worst available option at RP. How anyone can honestly defend Ned Yost is beyond my comprehension.
  10. This is Ned Yost managing. Of course there isn't anybody warming up.
  11. I don't think you can bunt in T-Ball, at least not on purpose anyway.
  12. The question is... how many runs does Ned let Tavarez give up? My money is on 3. Time to watch some NBA http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  13. Uh oh. I sense some insurance coming for the Stros.
  14. Another good, quality start from Seth McClung. Too bad Berkman had one big hit, and the Brewers have been horrendous at the plate.
  15. FSN in true form tonight with the count and out indicators.
  16. That's our job. There is no such thing as the perfect lineup with this team. Just better than other ones.
  17. The lineup isn't bad, but it could be better. I love Hart leading off, not a fan of Hardy batting 2nd, love Hall getting a chance at second, not a fan of back to back lefties. I would let Hall protect Prince and move Branyan and Cameron down one. Its not like Cameron is any better than Hall, I would argue he's worse. Or, move Hall or Kendall to 2nd and swap Hardy down to either of their spots. Oh well, Hardy was good in the 2 hole for about a month and a half last year.
  18. Ahh, I guess there are always excuses. I know what I see in Yost, and its nothing special for sure. He tries hard I guess, but I just don't think he (a) has the luck he needs to succeed in this game, and (b) the creativitiy needed for longevity. Do me a favor and listen to his pre-game show on TMJ a few days this week, then tell me he is dealing with a full managerial deck.
  19. It's a pretty good indicator as to how well they handle pressure.
  20. No team in its right mind would hire Ned after his tenure with the Brewers ends. Exactly. The fact of the matter is Ned Yost cannot handle the pressure of Major League Baseball in Milwaukee. In any other city he would be in the looney bin by now (with exception being maybe Kansas City).
  21. I really haven't been talking about wins and losses per se, but if we must I will use the Yost arguement for Francona in Philly, too many injuries at the wrong time. In 2000, Schilling was hurt half the year, the closer was Jeff Brantley, Paul Byrd and Andy Ashby were terrible, Pat Burrell was a rookie, Scott Rolen and Bobby Abreu were the only offensive bright spots. All in all, Francona had 4 less wins total in 4 seasons in Philly than Yost had in his first 4 seasons in Milwaukee. Again, to argue win and loss totals between the Red Sox and Brewers is like comparing apples to oranges. Like you said, the salaries are in two different worlds. I was simply comparing brain power and overall competence as an MLB manager.
  22. Give Yost a $150 million payroll and allstars at every position and I kind of think he'd be a better manager and interview. The Red Sox do not have all-stars at every position, and I doubt this has anything to do with Francona putting in Papelbon in the 8th or when he plays Coco Puffs. Nor do I think it has anything to do with his vernacular or his ability to think on the fly. It'd be nice to call up players only when they are ready to be in the bigs instead of having to bring them along to learn on the job like Ned had done wiht half this team. Francona has had to do this with many players as well. The only difference is that he does it better so you don't see the glaring weaknesses of the new players. Need and extra starter? No problem we'll plunk down 30 million just for the right to negotiate with an allstar caliber player. Who is on the DL right now. As far as how well Franona does in interviews that goes hand in hand with winning. Lot easier to be nice and happy with reporters when everything is going well. I'll concede the point that it is easier to be nicer and happier with the media, however I was not arguing this point. It has nothing to do with the quality of what is said and the consistency of methodology.
  23. Terry Francona does not Yost the Red Sox, and is an awesome interview. I have watched many Boston games and have never questioned his decision making. You could say many, but I wouldn't say any.
  24. Even keel as in a profanity laced tirade directed at the opposing manager? I'll conceed one point, Yost is doing something right. I may not be able to put my finger on it, but there has to be something.
  25. The comments do mean something. Its a direct reflection of his incompetence.
