  1. The plot did get a little crazy in season 3, I agree. It wasn't unwatchable in my opinion though. Another suggestion would be True Detective (HBO). First season was only 8 episodes long but it was great. Second season is coming out sometime this year but will have a whole new cast/story.
  2. May be an obvious choice but I just binge watched Homeland. The cast and storyline are remarkable - can't wait for Season 5. Definitely recommend it if you haven't seen it already. It's on Showtime, not Netflix, but it sounds like you have a subscription.
  3. I tried it this past weekend and was not impressed. Lots of issues - game would occasionally rewind a few seconds, buffering, audio was off at times. Tried sending it to Chromecast using both an iPad and Note 3 phone, both were equally bad.
  4. I'd wager a bunch of money it's your blu-ray player. They are meant to play blu-ray not run RAM heavy apps. I'd imagine the computing power on your blu-ray player is dwarfed by your ipad I'm convinced that the iPad is the best device to use for streaming. Always HD feeds and no buffering. Tried my roommate's LG Smart TV the other night and it was unwatchable. Like Baldkin said, those types of devices aren't meant for apps like mlb.tv.
  5. Really appreciate all of the recommendations. Heard a lot of good things (and some bad) about Cincy. Pretty excited to see Great American - looks like a pretty cool park.
  6. Thanks for the recommendations guys. As far as the vibe I'm looking for - I'm still relatively young so I would prefer location over quality of the hotel. That's not to say I want to stay in a Motel 6 though. Not sure if I'll have a rental car so a place downtown, near the ballpark (even a short cab ride away) would be ideal. Any recommendations as far as restaurants, bars, local attractions?
  7. I'm going to be in the Cincinnati area for work when the Brewers play there over the 4th of July weekend. Planning on meeting some buddies and heading to a few games. Anyone have any recommendations for hotels in the area, preferably close to the ball park? Considering this will be on the company dime, I can't go too crazy with cost. Thanks!
  8. You should have received an email about a week before your card was charged. Seems like they should give you more than a week to cancel the subscription though.
  9. I've had some bad buffering/quality issues in the past but that was with really basic internet, recently upgraded so I'm hoping those will be no more. The broadcast is strictly just the game though, no pre or post game. As for commercials, I think if you watch it on a laptop they throw in some but otherwise it's just a blue screen that says "commercial break."
  10. It goes by IP address. You can enter your zip code on this page to find out which teams will be blacked out in your area: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/index.jsp#blackout I love mlb.tv and will be renewing again this year. Well worth the price if you live outside of the broadcast area. I've found some devices work better than others though - laptop and iPad are best in my opinion, Apple TV works pretty well too to get it on the big screen.
  11. Sorry, I just reread that. Weekend National broadcasts (ie, Fox Saturday and ESPN Sunday Night).
  12. Stache - All Rangers and Astros games as well as any nationally broadcast game (ESPN, Fox). Check out the blackout restrictions on this page. It's a pretty lengthy list to go through. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/index.jsp#restrictions MLB.TV is still worth it though, especially if you have cable as well. The Rangers games should be on FS-SW in the Dallas area. Not sure about the Astros games though.
  13. I'm in Texas as well and used mlb.tv to watch last season. Mostly streamed through my PS3 which was good for the most part. Streaming was shaky at times but that could just be due to my old system. Bought an iPad last summer and loved streaming games on it, thought the quality was phenomenal. Will definitely be doing mlb.tv again this year but will look into buying an Apple TV to stream it on my TV. In Texas, all Rangers and Astros games are blacked out. If I recall correctly, the Crew will be playing both those teams this year. Hopefully they'll be on FS-SW. Fox Saturday games and games on ESPN are also blacked out (unless they're on locally, I believe).
  14. Did anyone notice if there was a submission along these lines? Ball and glove logo with the modern navy and gold colors? Seems to be a pretty common uniform suggestion on these message boards. I was hoping someone would have put one together.
  15. My guess would be that you can't listen to the games on your phone through the Charter Sports Package. There is a Charter app (at least on my phone) but I doubt you'd be able to stream the games. As for your other question. Yes, you type the keyword as the first word in the body of the text. 234234 is the number you send the text to. One app I will suggest you get is the Watch ESPN app. It's available for free and as a Charter customer you'll be able to watch all the ESPN programming on your phone.
  16. Couldn't agree more, HiAndTight. I can't understand why people are constantly bashing Melvin and Co. He and Attanasio have taken the team from perennial bottom feeders to contenders in a pretty short amount of time. They continue to stretch payroll in order to put a solid team on the field. They should be praised for the talent they've acquired and the moves they've made; signing Braun long-term; signing Aramis; trading for guys like CC, Greinke, Marcum, and K-Rod. Could we just stop finding ways to complain about Melvin and the front office and enjoy the success we've had in recent years.
  17. Hmm, a left-handed infielder not playing 1B. Now that would be interesting...There's a reason lefties don't play 2nd, 3rd, or SS.
  18. It would have been interesting to see what they would have done last night if they had only tied the game in the ninth and gone to extras. I believe I heard BA say they likely would have put Ramirez at SS and moved Gamel to 3B, with Ishikawa at 1B (or Kottaras?). That would have been a brutal left side of the infield! I watched a replay of the Dodgers broadcast of the ninth inning last night on mlb.tv to hear their walk-off call. They mentioned Gomez playing short and were wondering if he would be put in if the game went to extras. It was great to hear their announcers praise RR for his bold moves. Anyone listen to the post game last night? I'm sure someone asked Ron what he would have done had the game gone to extra innings.
  19. Almost anything is better than the cartoonish Native American logo, in my opinion I actually like that logo. I realize it's probably offensive to some people but I'm not Native American so it doesn't offend me. What really irks me is the fact that the Indians wear four different hats...the Brewers wear one (two if you count the ball and glove hat they'll wear about 10 times this year).
  20. I dig the new Toronto unis but personally think the Indians red "C" cap is the ugliest in baseball. Something about the blue lettering on the red cap just rubs me the wrong way.
  21. I have never looked into renting out space in a bar but I have worked in a bar in downtown MKE. I can guarantee you the bar I worked at wouldn't allow someone to rent out space and bring their own booze (and I would be surprised if you could find a bar that would). In fact, that sounds like something that could very well be illegal for a bar to do. Here's a suggestion.... http://www.frontrowmilwaukee.com/events/events.html
  22. Same here... been playing the game since '06 when it came out.
  23. I don't even own an iPad so I have no personal experience using this product (eventually I will be purchasing the new model). Anyway, I saw somebody using this and had to ask him about it. Logitech makes pretty good products IMO and this would take care of the case situation as well. http://www.logitech.com/en-us/keyboards/keyboard/devices/keyboard-case-ipad
  24. Yes! And Rickie finally has his dreads and more accurate batting stance.
  25. ...Came out today. Anyone else buy it? Disappointed Aoki isn't in the game. And apparently Manny Parra doesn't exist anymore. Guessing they didn't change the playoff format, which is disappointing. Also, doubt the Astros will move to the AL West after the first season in franchise mode. They did make some serious upgrades to ball mechanics however, which makes the game that much more realistic. Still an awesome game. Easily my favorite sports game and the only one I buy on an annual basis.
