  1. I hope you are sitting down as you read this, because I have shocking news. Ben Sheets is now on the DL.
  2. No matter how badly our season as gone, at least we aren’t the Cubs.
  3. I am a fat man who ate a cheeseburger and fries for lunch....and now Axford is coming in for the "save". I'm just going to go stand by the defibrillator.
  4. I am actually glad that the wife wants to go run errands now, so I won't be around to watch the bullpen blow this one.
  5. Nice job by Wolf. Nice to be able to say that every so often. On an unrelated note, Greinke got lit up like a pinball machine in his first inning tonight. Hope he settles down.
  6. 2-0 now without the obvious clubhouse cancer that was Stan Kyles.
  7. Living in Mesa, I listen to AZ sports talk radio a lot, and of course have it on today. They just mentioned Corbin getting pulled from a start tonight in the minors, and also mentioned a "blockbuster" for a "frontline starter and impact bat". I think Gallardo and Hart could fit that description. Also, I want to throw out that there has been a LOT of talk around here recently that the Diamondbacks have really soured a bit on Upton and Bauer. Bauer was up for a handful of starts and looked pretty bad, the D-backs talked to him about changing his really weird pregame warmp up routing and he balked at that and went down to Reno and sulked so bad that Reno basically told him to take 2 weeks off and get his head together. Maybe they'd be willing to move these guys at a little bit of a discount, just to be rid of them. *shrug*
  8. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/07/31/report-diamondbacks-aiming-for-premier-starting-pitcher/ This story from today says the Diamondbacks might be considering Gallardo, and in turn giving up Justin Upton and one arm from a trio of Trevor Bauer, Tyler Skaggs and Archie Bradley. Or not including Upton but trading 2 of those 3 pitchers. I like Gallardo but if I'm Melvin, I am considering those deals, if they are even real. Gallardo is a great pitcher, but to me he seems to have hit his ceiling, I haven't seen a whole lot of improvement from him the last year or two. He can be dominant, but he also still has a tendency to rack up high pitch counts pretty early in games, and more often than I'd like goes out and throws a 5 inning, 6 earned run clunker.
  9. I don't know what you do or how you do it, but don't you almost have to consider making a move tomorrow to just get an average bullpen arm or two in here? You can't go the next 50+ games or whatever is left with this bullpen, you just can't.
  10. I hope Morgan goes 5 for 5 with 5 home runs and 20 RBI tonight, just so someone will want to trade for him.
  11. With Kottaras gone, I am assuming Wolf's new personal catcher will be: http://www.davessportshop.net/images/TRAVLPITCH.jpg
  12. Alright, we got to 6 runs, I fully expect to give up 7 in the ninth.
  13. I will confess that a small part of me wants to see what would happen on the forum if the trade deadline comes and goes and Greinke is still a Brewer. A very small part of me. The much larger part of me wants Olt and Grimm for Zack.
  14. I may be in the minority, but I have a hard time realistically expecting Gamel to be a major contributor on this team anymore. I hope I am wrong, but sometimes the stars just don't align right for a guy, and Gamel is pretty much at that point, in my eyes at least.
  15. I am crossing my fingers that a deal gets done today. Greinke is scheduled to start on Sunday, and I have to believe any team trading for him wants to maximize what they get from him so they won't want him to miss a start. Given Greinke's anxiety issues, I would assume that the sooner he gets to his new team and gets acclimated and familiar to the new coaching staff and players, the more comfortable he'll be. I can't imagine the Rangers (or whoever) trading for him Sunday morning, throwing him on a plane so he arrives 90 minutes before game time, tossing a jersey on him and saying, "Go give us 7 good innings."
  16. Some variation of a Greinke for Olt deal just makes too much sense for both teams to pass up. I hope.
  17. Andrus is a great player, no doubt about that. I want no part of a trade for him however simply because he isn't something we can build around for the future. He'll be great for 2 years until we have to trade him because we can't afford him and the cycle continues. Here in Arizona, the basketball team has for years tried to avoid the dreaded "rebuilding" process and instead tried to patch together a playoff team around a key piece or two. It inevitably leads to season after season of not being good enough to really compete, but not being bad enough to rebuild with high draft picks, etc. I don't want the Brewers to fall into that, and the way Melvin operates, I am afraid that's what will happen. Rebuild now, it will be painful for a year or two, but hopefully the rewards will be worth it.
