  1. On the bright side, there appear to be a lot of "toolsy" center fielders available when we make the 12th pick in next year's draft.
  2. Hader coming out for the 6th was just not smart. Drake going 40 pitches is just absolutely indefensible. Counsell can wear this "L" like a damn champion, he earned it.
  3. Hader has no idea where his pitches are going to end up. None. I have a bad feeling about this...hope I am wrong.
  4. Is the Joker possibly Suter?
  5. If Stearns makes any move in August, which he did say there would be a lot of options available, I think you include Guerra in the trade. We don't need him, he isn't that good, but some team will see his stats from last year and take a chance on an August trade. Far as right now, maybe Garza in the pen? But they way they have been handling this season I would not be surprised to see Woodruff out of the rotation.
  6. Is there something Counsell does that he is exceptionally good at? I don't see one but there are some glaring weaknesses that just don't get better. Why does the front office basically seem to think this guy can do no wrong?
  7. I would think about Santana leading off. Hits for average, has some speed, etc. Nobody else seems able to do it, give the guy a shot.
  8. What a difference a month makes. From playing well, building a division lead and speculating about us being buyers to this unwatchable dumpster fire of a team who can't hit their way out of a paper bag. This gets so depressing year after year. 3.5 games back may as well be 30.5 games.
  9. 11-16 If we're lucky.
  10. In the last 30 years, how many pitching prospects have come out of the Brewers farm system and had results on the level of Sonny Gray? Five, maybe? Our history of developing arms is horrific. Holding on to all our pitching prospects doesn't guarantee any of them become a legit 1 or 2 like Gray. If you have to give up an Ortiz or Burnes, do it. If the team trends downward next year, flip Gray at the deadline, recoup some losses, but at some point you have to transition out of perpetually rebuilding.
  11. I agree about Kinsler as well, if he can be gotten fairly cheaply, I think there is some definite upside there. Even if Anderson comes back and is the same guy, by the time he is back, what will we really get out of him, six meaningful starts? That was why I would have been for a Gray or Staily deal. They help immediately this year, and if next year goes south on us, we could flip them to recoup some assets.
  12. 5.5 games behind a team that has played well all season, is far from "a very good chance" at that spot. Assuming we do nothing today, I think that's the white flag of surrender for 2017.
  13. This is dead on. Nice post. Why did people start taking 'controllable young talent' to mean 'We are going to go after every player out there that isn't a rental.' ? Probably because every rumor website and every baseball writer with a Twitter account has linked the Brewers to every non rental out there over the last two weeks. I don't think anyone is advocating emptying the farm system to make a flurry of moves. Even just a second tier type splash like Straily or Kinsler, all we have done is rearrange deck chairs on the Titanic.
  14. I predict that I will be glued to the TV and social media all day while I watch the rich get richer, and the Yankees, Cubs, Dodgers and Astros set cruise control to the LCS. While I sit, disappointed knowing that we did nothing to help our team, even though they played a great first half. It just seemed like for all the rumors and hype about us going to get some young, controllable talent, we ended up with Swarzak, who is gone in 2 months and isn't a difference maker, and some AAAA dime a dozen body named Tyler Webb, who we may as well file a Missing Persons report on since we got him. I know people here worship Stearns, and he does a fine job collecting prospects. Using them though, jury's still out.
  15. Please don't start Kirk N, please don't start Kirk N, please don't start Kirk N.... Whew. Villar -2B Thames-1B Braun -LF Shaw -3B Santana -RF Arcia -SS Bandy-C Brinson -CF Davies -P
  16. It appears it could finally be time for everybody to Wang Chung tonight.
  17. We burned through our entire bullpen tonight basically, so we get to cancel tomorrow's game a few hours before start time due to "expected rain", right?
  18. MLB Trade Rumors just posted a blurb that we are interested in Straily as of right now, what would you think is a reasonable package we can offer for him? I think he's clearly a tier down from Gray/Darvish/Verlander, but he is better than some of what we have. R Ray and Ortiz?
  19. If we were gonna deal for Gray, today would be the day so he doesn't waste another start for Oakland...hmm, the plot thickens.
  20. Put the alcohol and the keyboard away and call it a night. You'll thank me later.
  21. Great win! Good to feel positive after a game again. Given some of the posts I have seen around here in the past, part of me is surprised there is no "How much can we flip Suter for at the deadline?" thread yet, lol.
  22. If there is any truth to Stearns wanting Granderson, I sincerely hope someone finds Stearns, takes his cell phone and smashes it into a million pieces.
  23. When Peralta was activated a few days ago, Counsell said that he "had figured something out", apparently it was "how to suck more."
  24. Bad as this game was, gotta say, this bit of comedy was solid gold. Well played.
  25. Well, at least this frees up my day. A Sunday lineup needing at least 3 against Scherzer...no thanks.
