  1. You can't know how things would have played out had the umpire made the correct....aww F it. Friggin' ump just gave the Cardinals the game!
  2. Cody Ransom strikes out at a stultifying rate of once every two plate appearances. Yet his .OBP is still higher than Cesar Izturis this year. I'm trying to figure that one out.
  3. Is it just me, or does Cody Ransom blink more than a kidnap victim sending a coded message?
  4. Fly safe! Keep the hurl bag ready for the late innings when the Brewers go to the bullpen.
  5. If Snoop Dogg narrated NFL Films, that's how he'd pronounce coach Lombardi.
  6. I'd hang on to Maldonado, Gomez, Aoki, Axe, and probably Hart unless someone really wants him. I'll admit that completely razing the roster and restarting feels like the best way to purge the suck out of the team but if you gut to that level you're basically the Houston Astros with Ryan Braun.
  7. Was that an optical illusion or did Aoki get called out a pitch that was literally a foot off the plate?
  8. That's nice. Brooks Conrad was hitting .405 in AAA.
  9. Nope. Weeks .308 Maldonado .327 It's all deck chairs on the Titanic at this point, but Maldonado should be hitting in front of Weeks in the lineup.
  10. TT at 60 pitches through 3. Doubt he'll go much past 5 at this pace. Might see Livan Hernandez today.
  11. That's all well reasoned. When I say he's "proven himself" I'm referring to his plate approach. He doesn't over swing (Brooks Conrad, Carlos Gomez), he hits away and up the middle, he's been pretty good at working counts. It's more of an eyeball test. And I'm sure everyone from the minor league system that gets called up wants to stay in the bigs but I simply can't remember anyone being as gung-ho and seizing the opportunity the way Maldonado has. Hell, he's already bunted for 3 hits. How many catchers do that? So where do I think he'll wind up? Maybe I'm optimistic but I think he'll hit .255 to .260 and have an OBP over .300. The question is will he and the franchise benefit from him playing every day in AAA or 2 of every 5 starts in the majors, which is realistically what he'd get when Lucroy comes back. I'm in the camp that says him seeing MLB grade pitching, albeit at the cost of playing time, benefits him more long term.
  12. Come on, man. It's one thing to be upset by his poor pitching, but you don't have to resort to personal attacks. Agreed. Obviously there's blood in the water and people are posting angry. John is as standup as a guy as there is and probably feels worse about this than anyone. But right now he's a 1 pitch pitcher and he can't even throw the fastball reliably for strikes. If the Brewers don't have a complete yard sale after this, KRod has to be the new closer moving forward.
  13. You said "decent but unspectacular" referring to his first 136 PA's. Whatever, we're splitting hairs. I don't know how many PA's and game starts it takes to get a true barometer of a rookie's hitting potential but in my mind, he's proven himself. Moreso than any rookie position player callup/promotion the Brewers have made the last two seasons, including Gamel. And he is a stud prospect from a defensive standpoint. But I understand the argument you're making and do see the value in him getting consistent starts in AAA vs. catching every fifth or fourth game. I think it's the glaring black holes in our lineup (SS, 2B, non Aoki CF) that are in part fueling the case for keeping him in the bigs.
  14. Not to nitpick because I agree with most of this, but MM is hitting .285 in his 136 PA's and has a better OBP than Weeks. That's more than decent and combined with his defense and attitude earns him the right to stay in the majors. His minor league numbers don't portend an inevitable offensive decline either, or at least not some kind of cliff drop. He hit .321 in AAA last year and .287 overall. Kid is only 25. Hart is our every day first baseman moving forward. Lucroy at 1B isn't happening. But as long as we're spitballing, what about Lucroy in right field? He's got good speed and a good arm.
  15. McCutchen has had a ridiculously good first half of the season. Braun has had a ridiculously good career. Braun's season low batting average is also the same as McCutchen's season high. It's not much of a discussion until McCutchen proves he can put up all star numbers year in and year out.
  16. I agree. Hart isn't going anywhere. Only scenario he'd be traded would be a Greinke package for the Rangers blue chip SS prospect and I see that as extremely unlikely. He's been a team guy and has stated repeatedly that he likes Milwaukee and wants to stay. Doug & Mark will repay that sort of loyalty. Throw in his surprisingly solid infield defense (to me at least) and I expect him to be our starting first basemen for the next 2 to 3 years. If anything, Gamel is traded or moved to the OF if his recovery goes well.
  17. Was there a hit and run on? How did Maldanado score from 1st on Ishikawa's single?
  18. So what infield bat in AAA is such a better option? AAA? There are women in fast pitch softball leagues that swing the bat harder than Izturus. Did you see his last out?
  19. (Posted this in the general Brewer forum but this is probably the better thread for it) Only a rumor, but Bill Michaels is claiming the Brewers have a $125M offer on the table for Greinke: http://www.billmichaelssports.com/brewers-lebron-sandusky/
  20. Don't know if this is the right thread for this as it's only a rumor, but Bill Michaels is claiming the Brewers have a $125M offer on the table for Greinke: http://www.billmichaelssports.com/brewers-lebron-sandusky/
  21. And props to Taylor Green for his impression of a blind man attempting to hit a baseball.
  22. Yes Cody, it's all a conspiracy by the MLB home plate umpires to make you look like a terrible hitter.
  23. with Kottaras/Ransom/Izturis coming up? not very likely. I'm hoping for a Kottaras walk, a Ransom K on a wild pitch, an Izturis sac bunt, an Aoki HBP, a Gomez sac fly, and a Braun salami (GRAND salami, you sickos). Well, you got your walk. Even though that was a bit of a gift. And technically, Braun's HR is only a garden variety 3 run sausage in the scenario you describe.
