  1. T minus 3 innings till BA starts talking about his Dog
  2. Bronson Koenig? He's a basketball player. You mean Brinson? We signed Bronson Arroyo to play OF for the Brewers. That would be hilarious!!!! Depressing, but hilarious. If Doug Melvin was still GM, Arroyo would have gotten signed to a 3 year 30 million dollar contract this past winter. We'd read feel good stories about his veteran leadership and the good part would be that BA would talk less about his dog and more about Bronson's singing
  3. It's a sweet story. No harm in what he's doing, good for him. Hopefully, he can see a Brewers World Series in his lifetime.

  5. I think that is certainly a possibility. I'd like to see the Brewers bring in many more pitching prospects through drafts & trades if at all possible. I do think Keston Hiura will be an elite hitter. I think Mauricio Dubon will be at the very least an upgrade over Hernan Perez. Shaw seems legit. Arcia seems legit as a .270 hitting Gold Glove candidate. Lots of question marks with the rest of the organization in terms of building a contending team
  6. Big Game tonight! HUGE!!!! OK, not really, but I'm still looking forward to it meanwhile: Free Lewis Brinson! End the Keon madness (yes I have too much time on my hands)
  7. Bet you were pretty concerned about these problems too: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rizzoan01.shtml https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/t/troutmi01.shtml https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/j/judgeaa01.shtml Hmmmm yeah I dunno. Judge is the anamoly and perhaps the best comp as Brinson is 23 .... Trout was just 19 and at least hit .220, Rizzo was 21 .... Brinson is hitting .111, but I get your point
  8. Was listening on the radio. Am I imagining things or was Uecker sounding pretty agitated that the Brewers weren't buyers at the deadline?
  9. Brinson's bat has been stunningly awful in his small sample so far. He needs plenty of at-bats to finish out the season so the Brewers have a better idea of what they have in him going into the winter.
  10. When I first started posting here, I liked it when people were reminded that this isn't the Journal Sentinel online comments section, that one needed to have some deeper understanding of Baseball & the Brewers to be respected here. It was a little intimidating at first but made for much better overall reading. The unsubstantiated negativity from some here lately is a bit much. But I still love this place
  11. Ray & Clark are having very unimpressive minor league seasons. Billy Beane hangs up on that proposal. The only question is whether you hear him laughing before you hear the dial tone.
  12. The Brewers were never going to trade Brinson and given the return the A's got they wouldn't have had to. This thread needs to be bumped in two years becuase one way or another a lot of people are going to be dramatically wrong about Sonny Gray. Unfortunately, as tempting as that is, we can't even do that. Gray reunited with Derek Johnson pitching in the NL is different than pitching for the Yankees in the AL East. We don't know how the 2 teams would take different approaches in terms of pitch counts, workouts between starts etc..... too different scenarios to compare
  13. Breaking News: By not trading for Sonny Gray, the Brewers announce that they will retain control over Lewis Brinson for 6 years
  14. Brewers will control Jeffress for a few years. Does he have options left?
  15. I'm good with the Cubs overpaying for Quintana & Wilson. It will be interesting to see if the Brewers make a major move today but if they don't I will trust in the long term vision of our front office. The one move I really want to see is Brett Phillips back to Milwaukee. I'd like to see Phillips & Brinson get a lot of reps in CF for the remainder of the season so that there is more insight on which of them is better and who is ready to be a fulltime starter in 2018
  16. I would make a friendly wager on just the opposite occurring. Mejia has an elite hit tool, but my primary concerns are his small stature for the catcher position and that reportedly there have been issues with his attitude in the past. I think Brinson has a better chance to develop into a 4+ WAR player at his peak. I sure hope you are right. He looks like he's been extremely overmatched at the MLB level so far. Very small sample of course
  17. Many (including myself) scoffed when the Indians couldn't guarantee that Lucroy would be their starting catcher in 2017. I sure wish the Indians front office was as dumb as me because I sure think Francisco Mejia (currently hitting .317/.367/.520 in AA while throwing out over 50% of base runners) is going to be a much better MLB player than Lewis Brinson (hey maybe I'm wrong on that one, too!)
  18. Is anyone else concerned that Brinson is just plain not that good? Sure seems like a lot of swing & miss and his swing looks very long...
  19. Just not sure about Brinson. That is a long, long swing.... Phillips has looked much better in a small sample
  20. is this a proposal or do you have some inside scoop?
  21. I'm not completely convinced on Brinson, but I think he's a legit top prospect. I'm OK with passing on Gray if that means keeping Brinson for 6 years
  22. I doubt he would say anything else. He wants his fans to feel good about trading their best pitcher. And how did that work out for the Cubs today? Well, Quintana got out-pitched by 2012 31st-round pick Brent Suter. Quintana pitched plenty well. His defense didn't help him out a whole lot
  23. That was an extremely entertaining game and a big win
  24. I could see them trading Knebel if they got back a bigger haul than they got for Thornburg. Barnes and even Hughes could be lower level trades. Depending on what they think of Phillips/Brinson it is possible that they could trade Santana but that is unlikely. Guerra? Maybe/unlikely Sogard could be traded
